Hedonist - someone motivated by desires for sensual pleasures.
I’m always on the hunt for a great fragrance. Yes, I own many and love many too but I’m open to find more to titillate my nose with; I guess you could call me a fragligamist! The latest that dazzling me is Hedonist eau de parfum by VIKTORIA MINYA. Ms. Minya is Hungarian and studied fragrance in the scent capitol of the world, Grasse, France. Independently released fragrances are some of my favorites and this one is quite complex. It’s described as a woody chypre and I can’t believe how many layers it seems to have to it, at least according to my nose - it’s floral but not soft, feminine and yet strong and certainly not overpowering like some of my favorites from this brand can be but it reminds me of the brand for some reason.
- Top notes: Rum CO2, bergamot, peach
- Heart notes: Indian jasmine absolute, Tunisian orange flower absolute, osmanthus absolute, tobacco
- Base notes: Haitian vetyver, Virginia cedar oil, Indonesian Patchouli, and vanilla
And the presentation, which is so important with perfume, is just as beautiful. It comes in a gold tinted bottle with bohemian crystals inside that dance around the liquid as you move the bottle around.
One another note (no pun intended … really), how do you know if reading a review about a scent like this will be one you will like? Well, I have a list of notes I keep in my iPhone that I know I like as most are found in some of my favorites. So I think the best is to look through yours and make a note of the top and middle notes you see in some of the bottles and go with that. You can also try a sample of any fragrance that Lucky Scent carries for $5, which is great.
