This Face Mask Could Save Your Skin

The-Body-Shop-Ethiopian-Honey-Deep-Nourishing-Mask

We are knee deep in face mask season! And I just love it. One of my all-time favorite ingredients in skin care has to be honey and this one by THE BODY SHOP highlights it nicely.

We’ve been quite cold out here in LA lately, so their Ethiopian Honey Deep Nourishing Mask ($28/3oz @ thebodyshop-usa.com, ulta.com) has been giving my skin back the moisture it needs right now. Honey is a known humectant (it preserves moisture) and it’s the second ingredient listed in this product after water.

Also inside is mask are quite a few other nourishing ingredients, like Marula and olive oils, but most notably, the honey, Marula and olive oils are all sourced through their community trade program meaning that these ingredients are purchased from people and areas that offer their workers a fair salary and satisfactory working conditions in addition to other basic details. You can read more about the company’s commitment to using fair trade ingredients in its products here.

So I’ve been using this twice a week while sitting in a warm bath and it’s really made me felt pampered for just pennies each time. What’s your at-home pampering ritual?

5 Favorite Radiant Orchid Products

I'm starting a new on-going feature called "5 Favorite ... " where I list my 5 current favorite products in a particular category. So this week, I've chosen Pantone's Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid.

It’s almost like they picked it just because it’s such a great color when it comes to makeup! Here are my favorites when it comes to this color. Are you wearing any radiant orchid these days on your features?

Pantone-Color-of-the-Year-2014-

THE BODY SHOP Bunch of Violets Shimmer Cubes Palette #23 ($22 @ thebodyshop.com) – this quad is great for creating an overall orchid-colored eye look. The cube shades are: Orchid Purple, Candy Pink, Pearly White and Velvet Plum. Use wet or dry and apply with brush or your finger and blend, blend, blend.

MARC JACOBS BEAUTY Shameless Bold Blush in #212 Outspoken ($30 @ sephora.com) – blend in  this surprisingly workable shade on cheeks. So unexpectedly fun.

DOLCE & GABBANA The Nail Lacquer in Passione ($24 @ saks.com) – along with the Beauty Addicts, this one is a spot on perfect shade of the trending color. Gorg!

BEAUTY ADDICTS Lip Addiction in Seduce Fierce ($17 @ beautyaddicts.com) – I think this shade perfectly describes the shade. The coverage is sheer to medium depending how much you apply.

KANEBO Sensai Rouge Everlasting Colour in #115 Iwatsutsuji ($40 @ sensai-cosmetics.com) – this one is just a smidge more purple so if you want your trending shade more on that side, this would be a good one to try. And these lippies are really smooth and last quite a few hours.

Spring Product Must Haves

Spring-Product-Must-HavesCHANEL Anti-Pollution Sunscreen SPF 50 ($55/1oz @ chanel.com) – wrinkles are not sexy so be sure to apply a good one that protects from both UVA and UVB rays. And the formula totally disappears when you apply it so no yucky white residue leftover.

NORDSTROM Lip Gloss in Tropical Shimmer ($9.95 @ nordstrom.com) – every spring or summer look is perfect with a coral-y color swiped across lips. It has come back into fashion this time every year and its popularity probably won't wane next year either.

THE BODY SHOP Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil in Honey Kissed ($22/3.3oz @ thebodyshop.com) – consider this your last touch before heading out the door and much more purse-friendly than that other really popular tan-enhancing shimmer one we’ve all seen. And I think this one smells better as it’s one of my favorites, like the name says, honey.

NYX COSMETICS Setting Spray in Dewy Finish and Matte Finish ($8/2oz each @ amazon.com) – setting sprays are your best friends this time of year. It keeps things in place for at least a few more hours than you’d normally get. And these come in two different finishes.

PIXI BEAUTY Beauty Bronzer + Kabuki in Summertime ($21 @ dermstore.com) – this bronzer is a matte version great for sculpting and making features stand out. Use this one with this great tutorial I saw from Allure recent blog winner here to get the most out of it.

Spring Color Pick 2010 ~ Coral ~

When I’m walking down the street or in the mall and see someone with a pop of color on like a shirt or bag, I always end up saying in my head, “That looks cool. I gotta get me something in that shade.” And I do make an effort but I find myself gravitating back to the blacks and beiges. Why is this? I mean a pop of color always feels so fun and right. One area I seem to be successful in adding a pop of color to is my makeup routine. Lips or eyes or cheeks, why not add one of the colors of the season, coral to your look?

Here are some more picks in the on-going Spring Color Picks feature. Consider picking up any of these.

Fall Color Pick - Mossy Green

I consider greens, as in mossy greens, a very neutral color. They are so earthy, warm and natural that they could take the place of nudes in most cases. Olive, tarragon, and the creatively named products below, all make up our 2nd Fall Color Pick, Mossy Green.
The way I’m thinking about this piece is if I were to paint a picture of moss using different shades and textures, which ones would I use? Here are our picks to make up our portrait:
