Colgate Covers a lot with Their New Optic White Products

Since I almost went to dental school after high school, I’m always curious when it comes to the latest in toothbrushes as they just seem to get better and better with each one that hits the market. The latest I tried is from COLGATE and it’s their 360º Optic White toothbrush ($5.99 @ target.com) and besides looking oh-so-fun, it’s quite functional. To start, the bristles form small cups for what I’m guessing it so all the surface area is covered when brushing. But what I really like about this one is the rough texture it has on the back of the brush head as it massages the cheeks! This is a first. Love it!

(a note about the photos here – that’s Barney in the background. Anytime I go outside to take some pictures in the back of the house, he follows me and plops down on the pavement to roll around and purr. And yes, he's a huge 20lbs. He made a good background for the toothbrush!)

Colgate-360-Optic-White-toothbrush The other new product they just put out is their Optic White Toothpaste in Sparkling Mint ($4.29/5.5oz, $3.79/4oz) and this one claims to whiten teeth within one week from the inside out using the same hydrogen peroxide technology that whitening strips use. As I read the small print, the whitening starts at one week but for the best results continue for 4 weeks, so I will do just that as I didn’t really notice any big whitening difference. Pick up both @ drugstores nationwide.

What's Beautiful About Reach?

Reach-Total-Care-floss I don’t usually write too much about oral care products but if you think about it, they really are part of the beauty spectrum. So I am standing tall with my recommendation of REACH’s Total Care with Listerine flavors Fresh Mint Floss. What, did you think that a floss was a floss was a floss? Nope! What I like about this is that the flossing string has some give to it like stretchy jeans, so it makes it easier to get around each tooth. And really anything that’s going to make me want to floss gets points, right? $3.29 @ amazon.com.

Seasonal Product Update

This sunscreen feature got me thinking - with the upcoming warm temps, you need to make sure you have up-to-date versions to look your best. I mean, technology is moving right along and every year we see improvements on standard products. Here are some we take them for granted and are oft overlooked so give your medicine cabinet a scan today and see what could use updating!

Tweezerman-Skintimate-Lady-Speed-Stick-Colgate

TWEEZERMAN Animal Print Slant Tweezers ($25 @ bloomingdales.com) – a good sharp pair of tweezers go a long way and surpass all seasons! And these come with a free sharpening and lifetime guarantee.

SKINTIMATE Moisturizing Cream Shave ($3.99 @ walgreens.com) – this non-lathering formula contains exfoliating pearls, olive butter, soy and antioxidant white tea. I thought the pearls might get caught in the blazes of the razor but they don’t!

LADY SPEED STICK Stainguard in Daringly Fresh ($3.49/2.3oz @ walgreens.com) – hate those yellow stains on white t-shirts? This one contains stain defense technology and prevents white marks on clothes.

COLGATE ProClinical Daily Renewal Toothpaste ($4.99/4oz @ walgreens.com) – they just came out with this ProClinical collection. Choose from Daily Whitening, Daily Cleansing and Daily Renewal. Each uses the latest in dental technology.

Spring Color Picks 2010

Pantone-Fashion-Color-Report-Spring-2010 If you follow any aspect of fashion, you’ve heard that the Pantone Color of the Year for 2010 is Turquoise. Just hearing that news recently made me want to redo my living room or at least add some turquoise accents. Did I? No but I it did make me think of beauty products and how I could reflect the trend in my everyday makeup look with a splash of liquid on my nails or powder on my lids. “Combining the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green, Turquoise inspires thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a comforting escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing.”

Other colors of the Spring Season? Tomato Purée, Fusion Coral, Violet and Tuscany, to name a few. So what does that mean to you? I’ll be highlighting some products that showcase the colors in an on-going feature called Spring Color Picks. First up? Turquoise and Tomato Purée. I’m pairing the soothing blue-green and the tangy classic red in one feature as I think they balance each other out nicely.

So you wanna see the product picks?

Gift the Gift to the Person Who Has Everything

Zapi-Toothbrush-Sanitizer Have a germaphobe in your life? I think we all do at this point. I never even thought of something like this but someone did and soon you’ll be seeing them in lots of households. It’s a Toothbrush Sanitizer from ZAPI. Just stick your toothbrush in the top of the weeble-wobble looking base and the next time you go to use it, 99.9% of the germs like E. coli, staphylococcus and strep are wiped out. It uses UV technology and has a blinking light that tells you when it’s working. Don’t think that this replaces the need for you to change your toothbrush every three months or so. Choose from 6 colors (gotta match the bathroom, right?) for $29.99 @ shoptiques.com.

Attack the Mouth With New Technology From Scope, Crest and Oral B

Scope-Outlast-Mouthwash I love being privy to new technology and the Procter & Gamble line just added a major one to their SCOPE, CREST AND ORAL B products to fight bad breathe. It’s called Outlast and it binds tightly to select receptors in the mouth to keep the fresh sensation longer than your average mouthwash or toothpaste. The technology was co-created by one of the founders of their famous Whitestrips, and I think they are onto something with these.

And look for a big push going into this campaign as Ryan Seacrest is the spokesperson and at the launch party they showed the really cheeky commercial.

Choose from:
Scope Outlast in Long Lasting Mint and Long Lasting Peppermint ($5.99/25.4oz)
Crest Extra White Plus Scope Outlast ($3.25/4oz)
Oral-B Advantage Floss Picks Plus Scope Outlast flavor ($3.49/75 picks)

I definitely think the mouthwash was the best of the three in terms of keeping my mouth freshly presentable longer than my usual brand. Let me know if you are able to try any of the products and what you think! Pick yours up @ target.com.

Crest Puts Out the Next Wave of Teeth Whiteners

Crest-Whitestrips--Advanced-Seal I got my hands on CREST’s new Whitestrips Advanced Seal ($44.99/14 pouches with upper and lower strip inside @ amazon.com) just in time. My teeth were in dire need of a pick-me-up and can you believe that we’ve never tried Whitestrips?? Heard all the hype but just kinda didn’t fully digest it. And just like I have read about Whitestrips in general, we agree that they are some of the best teeth whiteners for the money. Each top and lower strip of the Advanced Seal adheres to your teeth so you can just stick them on and go about your business. They even say that it’s okay to drink (no booze!) with them in your mouth. They also say these are a clean removal. Well they do come off with a little bit of prying with your nails so I would recommend you brush after using these as they do leave some residue behind, which is fine. You should see results after using this 3 times for 30 minutes a day but I swear I saw results after just one use. Maybe I was dreaming but I know I’m not now as my teeth are noticably white.
