Is this the Biggest Skin Care Trend Right Now?

Can you name one skin care trend that’s hotter than the sheet mask trend? What it is: Coming to us from Asia, a sheet mask is a piece of cloth or fiber infused with skin-benefiting ingredients.

I’ve seen the prices range from $6 all the way up to over $100. And what I like is that this skin-treat doesn’t have to break the bank! It just depends on what you are looking for when it comes to one of these and what your budget is. Here are a few I recommend if you’re looking to indulge.

Dermovia-Lace-Your-Face

DERMOVIA Lace Your Face Healing Yogurt Milk ($15/1 or $55/pack of 4 @ dermovia.com,nordstrom.com) – this one works as a healing mask to calm red or irritated skin. It’s infused with yogurt, mulberry leaf and real pearl extract to work with sensitive skin.

When In Doubt, Mask It!

I seem to go in and out when it comes to using face masks. I know it's good to give the skin some extra attention with specific ingredients but like washing my hair, it's work and I've just been uber lazy the last few months! On the other hand, I have seen some good results alternating between the below ones this summer so I'll be keeping it up!

Masks-from-Chella-Tatcha-and-H2O+

CHELLA Anti-Fatigue Eye Mask Kit ($30/4 sets @ chella.comdermstore.com) – great for a quick under eye pick-me-up that will depuff and lessen dark circles. It’s a two-part system where you squeeze out the activator packet onto the pads and then apply them to the skin for 15 minutes.

H2O+ Oasis Moisture Lock Mask ($42/2oz @ h2oplus.com, ulta.com) – this one smells sooo good and is a summery blue color! Hydrate and smooth the skin all in 10 minutes.

H2O+ Infinity+ Youth Reveal Peel ($44/2oz @ h2oplus.com, dermstore.com) – I know this one doesn't fall straight under the face mask category but I've been using it as one. It seems a little more intense than the above one and does its thing in only 3 minutes. In addition to super hydration, this one also exfoliates using alpha hydroxy acids.

TATCHA Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask ($28/single mask, $95/four-pack @ tatcha.com, net-a-porter.com) – have you tried a sheet mask yet? I see some people on Instagram that swear by them, like @missfamenyc on Instagram. This particular sheet mask contains Red Algae from Japan’s Okinawa and the brand’s signature HADASEI-3 Bioactive complex, which smooths skin out using coconut fruit, green tea and royal jelly extract, among others. I like putting my sheet masks in the refrigerator to cool my skin down this summer.

Getting Smoooth with the Latest from Tatcha

Tatcha-Indigo-Smoothing-Black-Sugar-Body-Gommage
I don’t think I know of one person who has ever tried a product in the TATCHA line and not instantly became a fan. Just like I’ve come to expect from a Japanese brand is the attention to detail and the quality of ingredients with a product so I was excited to try this one.

From the Indigo Collection comes the newest addition of the Smoothing Black Sugar Body Gommage ($20/1.7oz, $74/9.3oz @ qvc.comtatcha.com). And this ain’t you average sugar scrub! This one uses Japanese Black Sugar from the Okinawa Islands, Camellia Oil and Japanese Indigo (a botanical extract used to calm inflammations and irritation in the skin).

What I’m Loving Right … Now!

What-I'm-Loving-Right-...-Now
HYLAMIDE SubQ Eyes
($35/15ml @ target.comurbanoutfitters.com) – this new-to-me line is made to work with your current skin care products in that it has the ability to penetrate deep into the skin to nourish and fix that targeted area. This SubQ Eyes contains some major ingredients to fix all around the eyes – puffiness, dark circles, hydration and fine lines. Yes, I could list all the ingredients but really, they’ll probably mean as much to you as to me. The proof is in the … serum and this one works and doesn’t take weeks to see results. So keep using the products you’re using and just add this eye serum!

BEAUTY 360 Portable Manicure Kit ($9.99 @ cvs.com) – this kit contains 5 interchangeable tips for giving yourself a manicure or pedicure at home: Buffing Tool, Emery Tool, Shaping Tool, Fine Shaping Tool and a Cuticle Pusher.

TATCHA Silken Pore Perfecting Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 35 ($68/2oz @ tatcha.com and barneys.com) – just because we’re changing seasons doesn’t mean you should ditch the sunscreen. New from Tatcha is a lightweight and non-comedogenic one that protects skin from both UVA and UVB. This one doesn’t feel greasy and I didn’t have to wait for it to absorb before applying makeup.

BUXOM True Nude Lip Foundation in Bare ($19 @ sephora.com) – not sure how I missed these when they came out a while ago but I’m glad I did. This one shown here in Bare, a chestnut brown, looks like a regular ol’ lipstick but it adheres to lips beautifully and acts more like a liquid lipstick. And it dries down to a super matte finish that doesn’t budget for hours. I’m in! Available in 7 shades

VOTRE VU Silk Stockings ($34/4.06oz @ votrevu.com) – nylons are still so uncool to wear but sometimes you want a little color but not a tan. This skin nourisher will give skin a dash of glow and it contains some  nourishing ingredients like vitamin E and extracts of calendula and Saint John’s wort. And what’s great about it is that it won’t wear off until you wash it off.

5 Favorite … Moisturizers

All areas of the body need moisture now. Here are some of my favorites!

5-Favorite-...-Moisturizers-Phyrra-Pretty-Little-Elixir-Rituals-Tatcha-Kiehls-tarte-cosmetics

Hair - PHYRRA Pretty Little Elixir Hair Masque ($39.99/8oz @ phyrrahair.myshopify.com) – who knows hair better than someone who puts it through the ringer like fellow beauty blogger, Courtney from Phyrra does? She just came out with a major hair mask and I couldn’t recommend it more! Pretty Little Elixir is  cruelty-free and will snap your strands back in shape no matter how harshly you treat it. And I recommend you use it with this product

Hands - TATCHA Indigo Soothing Silk Hand Cream ($38/2oz @ tatcha.com) – your hands are out in the elements a lot in the cold months, so give them some TLC with this nourishing cream. It uses the stems, leaves and petals of the Indigo plant to calm sensitive skin due to the cold, dermatitis, eczema and even rosacea.

Face - KIEHL’S Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque ($35/4.2oz @ nordstrom.com) – help your skin retain the extra moisture it needs to be fed during these burrrrr months by using this face masque. It’s a 10-minuter that will help your regular moisturizer work overtime.

Eyes - TARTE Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment Cream ($38/.35oz @ ulta.com) – this one uses their patented C-brighter technology that uses the power of the Maracuja fruit that super hydrates the thin skin around the eye that a heavy moisturizer just can’t conquer.

BodyRITUALS Honey Touch Rich and Nourishing Body Cream ($25/6.7oz @ barneys.com) – I have a soft spot for honey and wow, does this one do right by it and I’m not just talking about the gorgeous scent! It uses Himalayan Honey and Indian Rose Oil to nourish the nose and skin as well as Shea Butter, Cocoa Seed Butter. Thick and rich, just what the skin needs right now.

Tatcha Classic Rice Enzyme Powder

Tatcha-Polished-Classic-Rice-Enzyme-PowderWhen was the last time you went through your makeup to throw out old items? Hair care products? What about skin care? Lately I’ve become a little sketchy about a face product if it comes in a pot and I have to put my finger in it to grab some. I usually try and use one of those small spatulas that come with some of them but most of the time I don’t have one handy. It gets me wondering how much I contaminate my own product over and over every time I use it.

One that I know I am safe with in more ways than one is with this TATCHA Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder. First, it comes as a powder that activates when you apply water so it won’t spoil over time and secondly it has a small dispenser that you slide open and tap-tap about 1 teaspoon's worth into the palm of your hand, so no sticking any fingers anywhere inside of it.

Now about the formula itself – it’s composed of rice brand, papaya and their own HADASEI-3 Bioactive Complex to help gently exfoliate, as well as finely crushed seawater pearls that help brighten the skin. $65/2.1oz @ qvc.comsephora.com.
