This Nail Polish REALLY Stays Put

Sally-Hansen-Color-Therapy-nail-polish
When it comes to nail products, I’ve tried them all and will probably continue to do so, as I was just not born with that gene of strong nails. So when I heard of SALLY HANSEN Color Therapy polishes, I knew they were a must-try and a what-the-heck-I-got-nothing-to-lose!

What It Is: Color Therapy blends a complex of natural argan, acai, and evening primrose oil to condition weak, dry nails. Argan oil contains high levels of unsaturated fatty acids, as well as vitamin E, an antioxidant vital for healthy skin and nails. Acai berry oil is rich in omega-3, 6, and 9 essential fatty acids that are valued for nutrition and conditioning in skin and hair care. Evening primrose oil features essential fatty acids that are known to help reinforce hair strength.

My Take: I’m in love! I’ve pretty much given up on nail polish unless it’s a gel formula as they never seem to last on my nails no matter how much prep I do to ensure no chips. But these shades last, if you can believe it! I've rotated between 4 of the colors in the past few weeks and each seems to go about 5 days before starting to chip, and that's really good for me. And check this out – you apply the color straight to bare nails; no base coat! That way the nourishing oils can sink into the nail beds

And how great is this brush? I love when a nail company goes the extra mile and makes a good brush. It really does make a difference when applying. Also know that these are polishes are 3FREE and come in 33 shades. I think I’m officially in love!

Shown here #270 Mauve Mantra (bubblegum pink), #210 Re-nude (peach-tinged taupe), #340 Red-iance (cherry red), #190 Blushed Petal (nude), #250 Rosy Glow (fuchsia).

Get to Know the 3 P's of Self-Tanning

Have you heard of the 3 P’s of Self Tanners? Yup, it’s a thing, well at least I’m making it a thing right now, so learn more about each below. And while the formulas are getting better these days, I really wish there was more progress when it came to that darn tanner smell! Yes, some are able to mask it better than others but it's still there.

In the meantime, let's check out the 3 P's!

Skinny-Tan-Tan-&-Tone-Kit

Primed - SKINNY TAN Tan & Tone Kit ($54.99 @ skinnytan.com) – if you are looking for the whole kit and caboodle, this might be your answer. This one includes an oil-free skin exfoliator, Pre-Tan Primer, so you get the smoothest application you can. And the 7-Day Tanner gives skin an instant bronze loo that develops into a tan shade in a few hours and sticks around for up to 7 days. And make sure you give a healthy helping of this on your backside as they didn’t put the name Skinny in the name for nothing.

Why I Threw Out All My Nail Polish

Unless I get the most perfectly applied prep, an at-home manicure never lasts past 3 days without chipping or peeling off. It’s frustrating! That’s why I’ve thrown out all my regular polish and become a full-time gel-polish convert. When they first came out a few years ago, they were only available in salons (the CND brand). Then, brands started making at-home versions that included a lamp to cure the polish. Ok, getting better, but now we have a handful of brands that have gel polishes that don’t require a UV lamp to cure. Some need a topcoat, some do not , so I put an asterisk next to the ones below that require you to use more than one product, like a base coat/primer and/or top coat, with it.

Are you going to join the “throw-your-regular-polishes-out” movement?

Which Nail Appliques Are Worth the Price Tag?

Nail Appliqués have never been hotter but don’t be deceived as not all are created equal. The market is pretty saturated with so many different styles that is easy to be won over by a design only to have it start peeling off within 12 hours of putting them on.

I’ve tried quite a few brands so do you want to see which ones survived the scrutiny? Click after the jump!

Review - Sally Hansen Insta-Gel Strips

I think we’ve reach a plateau when it comes to the nail appliqués/gel manicures. And now a product that seems to combine them both – SALLY HANSEN Insta-Gel Strips Starter Kit. It combines the quickness of the nail appliqué with the curing of the LED lamp. So how did it fare? Click after the jump to find out!
