I’ve pretty much come become accustom to the white residue powder that comes with the territory of using a dry shampoo. So I was mucho surprised then I started using REDKEN’s Powder Refresh 01. There’s pretty much no white powder to contend with! It’s part of their Style Connection Collection and comes in a large and mini size, just in case you need some on the go.

Like all the good ones, this absorbs oil, extends the life of a great blowout and, as I find myself mainly using it for, over using a product in my hair. My girlfriends love stopping over my house when they can, just to gawk at the products I have and when one of them saw REDKEN’s relaunch of the All Soft collection, she recommended I give them a good try out. She shows and grooms dogs for a living and the original line is one of the ones she uses quite regularly! Seems strange to use people products on the dog’s coats but she swears by just a handful of lines/products so I’m listening.

The season once again is on deck to change! Will you be updating your hair styling products and tools? Here are a few to get you at least thinking about it.

BUMBLE AND BUMBLE Mending Masque ($37/5oz @ sephora.com) – let’s face it, if your hair is ratty and out of shape, nothing you try is going to help so make sure you get it back in line with a good hair mask like this one.

A change in the season means a change in my hair brush. After all, the materials that style and go though your hair have a life span as well. And they don’t have to look all boring and functional anymore. Take these two for example. This SPORNETTE Hypnotique #5902 Purple Paddle Brush ($26.95 @ spornette.com) combines nylon and 100% boars bristles and is a great staple everyday brush while SEPHORA’s Bamboo Boar Brush ($12 @ sephora.com) has a ceramic-coated barrel and, as the name states, all boar hair bristles. And the thinness of it makes it easy for wielding.

Do you think we’re at the height of high hair on the runways or on the streets? According to REDKEN, we’re not even close cuz here comes their Aerate 08 Bodifying Cream-Mousse ($16/2.3oz @ walgreens.com) and I’m sure this will be a popular one at NYFW kicking off today (it came out last fall but I just missed it until now). Like the Prius, it’s a hybrid of frothy mousse and conditioning cream that will give hair the ultimate boost in volume. Work a small amount of the patented formula through towel dried hair and then blow dry. The aerated cream uses cellulose to plump the hair up and build body and texture and it’s ok for those of us who color our strands. Love it!
