What I’m Loving Right Now, the Hair Edition

What-I'm-Loving-Now-the-Hair-Edition
1. OLIVIA GARDEN FingerBrush Vented Hair Brush ($13.96/small, $14.76/medium, $15.56/large @ ulta.com) – I’ve never really turned to a hair brush to give me a great scalp massage but this one really does! The curved shape helps it hug the scalp and it has ionic bristles to help hair dry fast when used with a blow dryer.

2. OSCAR BLANDI Polish Blow-Out Crème ($25/4.2oz @ amazon.com) – Never does a blow-dry session go by where I don’t use a defrizz product. And this one from OB is doing it for me right now. The Jasmine Calming Complex it help repel humidity keep frizz and flyaways far away.

3. SHU UEMURA Detail Master Directional Fixing Spray ($38/6.3oz @ shuuemuraartofhair-usa.com) – I’ve been practicing my 40’s vintage hair waves lately and this spray really helps hold it the style in place without being crunchy.

4. KERASTASE Laque Dentelle Micro Mist Fixing Hairspray ($20.50/2oz, $36/8oz @ kerastase-usa.com) – a product that can be used with heat tools seems to be a rare find these days but I’m really loving this one as it helps my hair curls last longer than without and no product crunch when using it.

5. ECRU NEW YORK Acacia Protein Hair Masque ($25/8oz ecrunewyork.com) – with all that we put our hair through these days, a quality hair mask is simply essential. This one contains Acacia Collagen, sunflower seed oil, Shea Butter and Marine Extracts to repair strands.

6. DEVA CURL My Deva Towel ($12 @ amazon.com) – are you still using a regular ol’ towel on your hair when you get out of the shower? Terry cloth towels promote frizz and are poor at drying the hair and this can be used on any type of hair.

May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month

Time to get your sunscreen on! Don’t forget the season’s most important product! And yes, I say this with exclamation points and many of them!! I’m not perfect and I do forget so I recommend putting any you have front and center so it will become part of your daily beauty routine. And some of the below ones are the continuous mist kind that can be sprayed at any angle (all should be in this form!).

And also note that sunscreens do expire so may I recommend some new ones?

GoClear-Coppertone-Hampton-Sun-Oscar-Blandi

From L to R:

GOCLEAR Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 12 ($33/1.7oz @ goclear.com) – made specifically for the face, this oil-free UVA/UVB cream contains botanical extracts and particularly suited for those with blemish-prone skin.

COPPERTONE Continuous Sunblock Spray, SPF 30 ($9.99/6oz @ walmart.com)  - these Continuous Spray sunscreens are some of my favorites as they are no rub and come out and apply totally clear. Rarely do I ever mention a product twice on the site but these are so great and come at a great price, that I have to.

OSCAR BLANDI Capri Sun-Shield Spray ($20/8oz @ frendsbeauty.com) – another product under the category of you-spent-all-that-money-on-your-hair-color-now-make-it-last. The sun can really wreak havoc on strands, so protect them.

HAMPTON SUN Continue Mist Sunscreen SPF 55 ($32/5oz @ hamptonsuncare.com and amazon.com) – I’ve been on the hunt for non-whitening-for-15-minute one for my face and this one is good for face and body and it’s totally clear!

Dry Clean Hair With Oscar Blandi

I must say that I had a better experience with this OSCAR BLANDI Pronto Dry Shampoo Spray ($10/1.4oz, $21/3.2oz @ dermstore.com) than I have with other dry shampoos. I tried one from a very popular line a few years ago and it was a disaster. I sprayed a little in and then a little more and a littleOscarblandi more until I had it the way I liked it but I didn’t realize how much it would “bleed” because it had color in it. Boy, did I make a mess of my pillow that night. I had no idea that the color would come out but then again I might have put too much in. There should have been a warning on the bottle! Either way, that one went in the trash the next day. This one from Senor Blandi is clear so you don’t have to worry about the above. And it’s great for those days when I need a little volume but don’t have time to shower and or style my hair to the fullest. This one also contains rice, wheat proteins, Panthenol and vitamin E to fortify each strand. I never even thought of this but this product won’t cause any build up. Hot-dang!

6/4/08 - addendum - I keep forgetting to add this! I suggest spraying this on your hair outside and then styling inside. The spray has particles that not only go on your hair but everwhere else and show up on surfaces in the room you are spraying it in. Not fun to clean up after the 2nd or 3rd time you use it.
