Orly Nails It for Fall
I am so feeling ORLY’s new Birds of a Feather Collection of Nail Lacquers. The colors are along the lines of this collection and really broke some ground in the nail industry as far as finishes go. The colors are inspired by the colors found is bird feathers found around the globe. With that in mind, I expected more reds and purples and out of all the colors, the one I’m feeling the least is the Peachy Parrot one. I just don’t feel like it goes with the others and certainly don’t feel it for the coming months; darker more vibrant is what is on deck for my fingertips right now.
Color picks: Fowl Play (purple sparkle), Lucky Duck (green crème), Nite Owl (beige shimmer), Sea Gurl (grey shimmer), Sweet Peacock (blue shimmer). Which colors are you feeling? $7.50 @ jcpenney.com, orlybeauty.com

Orly Spring and Summer Nail Polish Collections
To state that ORLY knows how to paint up spring and summer would be an understatement. Just check out some of these new Nail Lacquers from their Precious, Spring 2011 Collection and Pinup, the Summer 2011 Collection. Overall, the two are pretty opposite and there are stand outs from each.
Spring is inspired by a fresh approach to spring and fashion and a renewed appreciation for the exotic workmanship, ornamental engravings, and sumptuous fabrics known to accompany the luxe life. Here are my picks: Pure Porcelain – beige crème, Sapphire Silk – deep teal crème, Royal Velvet – purple blue shimmer (apply 3 coats at least to get the full effect!).
Summer is inspired by the unapologetic glitz and free-spirited attitude of the most iconic pinup girls. Here are my picks from this summer collection: Va Va Voom – pink neon crème and Bubbly Bombshell – purple glitter. $7.50 @ orlybeauty.com, jcpenney.com, Sally Beauty and Ulta stores.

Ok, we’re down to the wire and you gotta make sure your nails be did! There are quite a few you could go with – traditional red or green or go a little off beat with a glittery gold or sexy merlot. Will you be rockin’ any of these for the last of the Christmas parties this weekend?

Have You Seen the Latest from Orly Beauty?
I really didn’t want to take off this manicure but it was time and oi, was I excited to try ORLY’s new Nail Lacquer Cosmic FX Fall 2010 collection! Each one looks just so exciting. Each polish combines natural rock minerals, crystals and glass to give nails an optical effect. Unlike most polishes, because this has particles inside it, the formula is a little bit on the sheer side so you’ll probably find the color looks best with at least three coats.
Lunar Eclipse – blue w/pink purple Fx
Out of this World – purple w/pink silver Fx
Space Cadet – green w/purple gold Fx
Galaxy Girl – purple w/blue green Fx
Halley’s Comet – turquoise w/green yellow Fx
It’s Not Rocket Science – green w/gold blue Fx
One of the cool aspects of this collection is that a color can look one way and appear another. I’ve been wearing Halley’s Comet quite a bit and inside, it looks like Christmas tree ornament green but go outside into the sun and the color looks teal.
$10 @ orlybeauty.com jcpenney.com. Two really big painted thumbs up for this collection!

Not All Nudes are Created Equal
These two nail polishes would both fall in the category of “nudes” but how far from each other are they in real life? I mean ORLY’s Dream Boat ($7.50 @ jcpenney.com) is more of a white tan, I think and the BORGHESE Biscotto Beige ($8 @ ulta.com) I’d call more of a brown nude. But like any shade, each of these has a time and place and as any good nail polish wearing girl will tell you, it’s not always the same!

Spring Color Pick 2010 ~ Violet & Tuscany ~
Let’s continue exploring Pantone’s color picks for the season in an on-going feature I’m calling Spring Color Picks 2010. The next two picks are Violet and Tuscany. I just love violet and it’s a great accent to any outfit or to help put the focus on a specific feature with makeup, like eyes and even nails.
And when it comes to the warm beige hue of Tuscany, this one is a smart choice if the focus of your look is on a stronger color like the above violet or if you want to look polished and not really made up.
Will any of these be taking center stage for you this season?

Spring Color Picks 2010
If you follow any aspect of fashion, you’ve heard that the Pantone Color of the Year for 2010 is Turquoise. Just hearing that news recently made me want to redo my living room or at least add some turquoise accents. Did I? No but I it did make me think of beauty products and how I could reflect the trend in my everyday makeup look with a splash of liquid on my nails or powder on my lids. “Combining the serene qualities of blue and the invigorating aspects of green, Turquoise inspires thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a comforting escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of wellbeing.”
Other colors of the Spring Season? Tomato Purée, Fusion Coral, Violet and Tuscany, to name a few. So what does that mean to you? I’ll be highlighting some products that showcase the colors in an on-going feature called Spring Color Picks. First up? Turquoise and Tomato Purée. I’m pairing the soothing blue-green and the tangy classic red in one feature as I think they balance each other out nicely.

Speaking of, I have been wearing CND’s Asphalt since Sunday and my fingers and it’s now Friday morning and NO CHIPS WHAT-SO-EVER. I even had to help a friend move a room the other night, which usually totally does a mani in but this is holding up. So did CND perfect the formula when they tweaked the packaging? Wow, loving this!
