5 Unconventional Beauty Products

What triggered this post’s topic was seeing this YouTube video by NikkieTutorials and her declaration that Nivea Men Sensitive Shave Balm worked as a great makeup primer! It got me thinking of other items that have been used in ways other than intended.

5 Unconventional Beauty Products

So these are a few that I could think of off the top of my head. Do you have any to add? Let me know in the comments!

5 Unconventional Beauty Products that you can use in your routine.

1. Preparation H – I think this trend came from the drag world of using it for under eye bags, and well, to deflate them.

2. Credit Card – In addition to Scotch tape, I’ve seen a few videos of using a card to get the perfect winged eyeliner. Just place it at an angle at the outer corner of the eye as a guide when applying the liner pencil or liquid.

3. Spoon – I’ve seen this used like the above not only as a guide to get a good winged liner but also as a guide to getting a clearly defined line of color along the bottom of each brow.

4. Milk of Magnesia – Again I think this trend came from the world of drag and has been around for a long time. Some swear by this one as a face primer for keeping makeup on long and strong.

5. Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm – And as I mentioned, this one started the thought behind this post. And of course I will be trying it out!

Apply Your Body Lotion IN the Shower ... huh?

Count me in for anytime I can cut a step out of my regular beauty routine. One that I want to avoid is that time between getting out of the shower and donning clothes. It’s freezing and who wants to stand in the cold bathroom/bedroom applying body lotion? Well the folks at NIVEA just came out with one you use while you’re still in the warm shower. I seem to recall something like this quite a few years ago but I digress. This new In-Shower Body Lotion (7.99/13.5oz @ walgreens.com target.com) from Nivea is a liquid form of moisturizer that’s applied as your last step before exiting the shower and they break it down easily …

Wash

    Apply

        Rinse

            Go!

Easy right? They’ve made 3 different formulas: Hydrating In-Shower Body Lotion, Smoothing In-Shower Body Lotion and Nourishing In-Shower Body Lotion (shown here).

Nivea-In-Shower-Body-Lotion

They claim 24hr+ moisture but how does the average person measure that? I mean the few times I’ve used it in the past week, my skin felt hydrated the night after showering but it’s not like all of the sudden BAM my skin was dry after the 24hrs+.

Anyway, the bottom line is this one made my skin feel hydrated, smooth and not one iota of sticky, so no waiting around for it to absorb.

Spring Scents are Knocking at My Door

Which season excites you the most? I love the Christmas season, well, that’s not really a “season” per say so if I have to pick one, it has to be Spring. The colors the smells, it’s just exciting. To celebrate its arrival, I’ll be doing an on-going feature of some of my favorite scents that have come out recently that are really helping feel the season. Will you be picking any of these up for yourself?

FRUITS & PASSION Avocado Lip Balm ($5 @ fruitsandpassion.com) from the Nourishing Collection – Mmm, I love me some avocado this time of year and this balm has all good things for lips like Shea Butter and 10% avocado oil.

LISE WATIER
Folies Neiges Eau de Toilette Spray
($75/1.7oz @ lisewatier.com) – this may have come out last fall but the timing is so fitting right now! It showcases citrus notes, imbued with fruity, refreshing accents of orange and mandarin.

NIVEA
Touch of Sparkle Cream Oil Body Wash
($6.99/16.9oz @ walgreens.com) – I have just come to realize that I love the smell of the White Calla Blossom and this one is more than satisfying my desire. The name of the product makes it seem that it will leave behind some kind of shimmer or sparkle but I didn’t see any, which is probably better.

HILLHOUSE NATURALS
100% Soy Wax in Tin Candle
in Bloom ($12.50/5oz @ hillhousenaturals.com) – if you really need to set the mood on a warm evening, light this one to disperse the smell of water lilies, fresh bamboo, jasmine, teak and pure lotus flower. So lush!

CARESS Velvet Bliss Beauty Bar ($9.99/4-pack @ drugstores nationwide or target.com) – soap scents are getting creative these days. How about this combination of Blackberry and Vanilla Essence?? Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat …
