Overall, I've pretty much had a good experience with just about every KAT VON D beauty product I've tried. But this next one really hits the ball out of the park! It's her new Lock-It Powder Foundation ($36 @ sephora.com). 

When it comes to full-coverage powder foundations, I've only experienced a handful of them and really the only one I can remember is Bare Escentuals. 

What It Is: A vegan powder foundation that delivers full-coverage, instant blurring, and extreme long wear, in a sexy compact. Lock-It Powder Foundation is formulated with rice powder extract to blur away imperfections. FIRST AID BEAUTY just added five new shades of their Ultra Repair Tinted Moisturizer ($28/1oz @ firstaidbeauty.com, sephora.com, ulta.com, dermstore.com). Since temps are warming up, perhaps a heavy foundation is not in your wheel-well. The formula contains a broad-spectrum SPF 30 and is whipped like a mousse. It meets all the basic requirements for a tinted moisturizer like building up to a medium coverage, so if you’re in the market, this would be a good one to consider, especially if you have sensitive skin as all their products are formulated for it.

This product had quite an interesting launch! Their Unframe the Beauty campaign was launched inside manila envelopes with Confidential written on the outside and given out to peeps attending NYFW this past February. Inside was a liner and a way to vote KEEP or DROP the liner. With some experience under the Flowfushi name in Japan, a successful launch in that region gave them hope for this side of the world.

I was contacted via email and sent a sample of the black and posted some Instagram Stories about it, though I admit, I was kind of confused by the campaign and the voting on it. .

I was pretty fascinated with these when they came out and since these INNISFREE Vivid Cotton Ink ($12 @ innisfree.com) are also from Korea, I was not too surprised when they kinda acted the same.

Now this is a differently textured shadow! It’s wet. It’s jiggly. It’s Jelly. It’s JILL STUART Jelly Eye Color ($20 @ jillstuartbeautyusa.com) and is part of the K-Beauty storming out shores right now.

Lately, I’ve been watching quite a few videos by Australian YouTuber, Schellea Fowlwer, on her fabulous50 channel. She focuses on tips and tricks of applying makeup for those who are older. I’m not 50 yet but I have hooded lids and lines around my lips, and she shares tips on how to work with these aspects. There’s almost nothing I love to watch more on YouTube, and she just gives me the most useful tips and they are easy to replicate.

Her '5 Biggest Makeup Mistakes On Mature Eyes Tutorial Over 50 by Fabulous50s' was my introduction to her and I've referred back to it a few times. Since gravity is already working against you to drag the outside corners of your eyes down, her whole point of this video is that you should always look for ways to bring the eyes up in that area and not down. I was doing a few of her "don'ts" so it was nice to see what they were and why some are not flattering. 

Pull away tips:

• A thick line of liner on the mobile lid will make your eyes appear smaller. Tighlining the top lid is better.
• Black liner on the bottom water liner can make eyes look more almond shaped.
• Don’t follow nature when applying shadow! Don’t bring the shadow all the way down on the outside.
• Neutral or nude eyeliner pencil can open up the eye look.
• Eye primer is a must!
• Only apply a highlighter in the middle just under the brow, not all the way across.

Since I’m loving the new PIXI BEAUTY Eye Reflections Shadow Palette in Natural Beauty ($24 @ pixibeauty.com) I thought I’d try it out using some of her tips. The palette has both mattes and shimmers in it so this sole one can be used to create a whole look.

Have you ever heard of a tinted oil or a foundation oil? It seems that a new brand, KOSÅS, has put one out. They call it a Tinted Face Oil ($42/1oz @ kosas.com, neimanmarcus.com, nordstrom.com) and the base of it is made up of six active botanical oils that seem to do double-duty – nourishing skin with ingredients like oils from avocado, red raspberry, green tea, meadow foam, jojoba (second ingredient listed) and rose hip, while adding a touch of color.

stain /stān/ noun 1. a colored patch or dirty mark that is difficult to remove.

I can’t tell you how any many lip products I’ve come across that call themselves a stain. Keeping in mind the above definition, I consider a true stain is something like this or this.

I feel like this Korean lippie, KAJA Cushy Vibe High-Pigment Lip Stain ($18 @ sephora.com), is what every lip stain out there wants to be but misses the mark, or is as close to a great lip stain as I’ve gotten, which I’ll get into.

I could have gussied up these pictures of the NYX COSMETICS, but these new lippies really take center stage all on their own! I When I saw this picture on Instagram, I knew I had to have whatever the lippie was in the picture. Turns out it was NYX COSMETICS ‘Glitter Goals’ Liquid Lipstick ($9 @ nyxcosmetics.com, walgreens.com, ulta.com), shown in the hot pink shade of Reflector. How fun!

Since I currently can’t seem to find where I put these two, I was on the hunt for these new ones and found them at their store at the Westfield Mall Century City.
