Honey, Honey Part II

HONEY facts:

  • In order to produce 1 pound of honey, 2 million flowers must be visited.
  • Honey is fat free, cholesterol free and sodium free.
  • Not only is it quite soothing on minor burns, but can help combat infection and minimize scarring.

So using HONEY in beauty products seems like a natural fit, right? Here are some we love that love us right back in Part II of our on-going feature on products that exploit HONEY.

Honey, Honey

I have been a long time fan of HONEY. It never spoils, it’s sweeter than sugar, and it’s packed with vitamins and antioxidants. According the wikipedia, it’s the only food that includes all the substances necessary to sustain life, including water. Amazing! I really think this ingredient is highly overlooked when it comes to using it in beauty products as it proven to be able to attract and absorb moisture. So here’s out first of a four-part series on HONEY and beauty products that get it:

Leave It To Lush

Lushjasmineuse2_2Trophy2_4I have been on a LUSH tear! I mentioned a few weeks ago that I went to one of their stores when I was back east and in addition to Fever, I also picked up some new ones to try and one of them was their new Jasmin and Henna Fluff-Ease ($19.95/7.8oz @ lush.com) and wow, is all I can say.

It is a hair treatment you plaster onto dry hair and leave on for 20 minutes. Thinking that I just got lucky with my amazing results, I used it again and again, the same tah-dow results! Being the Queen of Excess when it comes to products, you’d think this one was right up my alley – instructions say ¼ pot for short hair, ½ pot for medium length and whole pot for long. I was able to restrain myself and only use about ¼ of it for my medium length and was still able to cover it all. Welcome to the Hall of Fame, Jasmin and Henna Fluff-Ease!

Hardcore Moisture from Lush

I love when I stumble upon a LUSH store as it doesn’t happen everyday. I was in Boston for the Holidays and came across one in Cambridge. Of course I had to stock up on my favorite BIG shampoo and try some new ones while I was sampling.Lushuse One of my new favorites from this excursion is Fever ($10.45/2.2oz @ lush.com). It’s an oval moisturizing bar that you simply clutch and rub on. The scent is jasmine, rose, and sandalwood. So yum! And the red lips on the bar? They are slightly tinted to rub them on your lips.
I also recommend buying the Massage Bar Tin ($4.95) to keep it neat.

LUSH Your Day Away

Lush2_10

This is one I could sit and smell all day. The Comforter ($8.45/7oz @ lush.com) from LUSH is a sugary nose and skin softening delight without the calories. Simply break off a piece (each bar is good for a few baths) of the pink Swiss roll and plop under the running water in the tub. You’ll have mucho bubbles and a sweet bubble gum smelling treat!

WARNING: DO NOT USE THIS WHEN YOU HAVE A MAJOR SUGAR CRAVING OR YOU MIGHT BE TEMPTED TO TAKE NIBBLE !
