3 Vastly Different Fall Scents

How do you pick your scent each day (if you don’t have a signature one)? Do you pick by mood? If I spray one on, would I have chosen a different one two hours later? If this is indeed the case, these next three scents would fit your behavior too. Though they seem to be polar opposites, each struck a chord (no pun intended) in me when it was time to choose a scent.

LaVanilla-Pure-Vanilla-Sage-Onyx-Dolce-&-Gabbana-Intense
{mood: strong, present, independent} LAVANILA Pure Vanilla EDP ($42/1oz, $58/1.7oz @ sephora.com) – when you find something that you do well, keep doing it well. I think that should be the mantra of the Lavanilla line; they have a formula for what they put out and don’t stray too far from it with the new scents. This one combines Madagascar vanilla, Freesia, Patchouli, Heliotrope and Tonka Bean, for a scent that has staying power and will all day.

{mood: enigmatic, ladylike, stylish} SAGE Onyx ($45/1/8th oz roll-on @ thesagelifestyle.com) – this one seems to have the staying power of an ox! And it should with so many base notes in it like vanilla, amber, and musk. The oakmoss, tobacco and black coconut give this one an air of mystery and I like that the scent doesn’t seem to change much throughout the course of the day. This is probably because this one only contains pure essential oils and no alcohol, water or other chemicals. Wanna learn more about Ms. Sage Machado (yes a real person is behind this line!), click on over to Beauty Bender blog and read a cool Q&A they conducted with her.

{mood: mysterious, feminine, unique} DOLCE & GABBANA Pour Femme Intense EDP ($79/.8oz, $93/1.6oz, $112/3.3oz @ sephora.com) – though the brand’s fragrances are known for being anything but light, this is one of the more enjoyable ones they’ve put out in the past few years. With notes of Raspberry, Green Mandarin, Neroli, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Tuberose, Musk and Sandalwood, you get a dab of sweetness on a bed of pure seduction. Do you dare?

So what are you wearing this season? Do tell in the comments!

Spring Scents Part 3

Spring-Scents-Kat-Burki-L'Occitane-Lavanila
KAT BURKI Tubereuse
eau de parfum ($95/3.4oz @ katburki.com) – I wore this one quite a few times on my recent trip to Kauai and wow, just love the combination of peach nectar, orange, green leaves, tuberose, gardenia, jasmine all on a base of amber, rosewood and musk. Gorg!

L’OCCITANE Shower Gel in Jasmin & Bergamote ($18/5.9oz @ loccitane.com) – nothing wakes up my nose like an intoxicating shower gel. This one contains jasmine absolutes from Grasse (located in the south of France near Cannes) and Egypt and essential oils from Italy. This one is not one of those faux-scented products that overwhelms upon opening. It’s subtle and very pleasant.

LAVANILA Fresh Vanilla Lemon eau de parfum spray ($58/1.7oz @ sephora.com) – I thought this one might smell like a floor cleaner but phew, it doesn’t and the vanilla base makes it last on the skin. This also comes in a super convenient Eau de Parfum Rollerball for $19/.23oz.

New from Lavanila!

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Lavanila-Forever-Fragrance-Oil-in-Vanilla-Grapefruit Like a good wine, the LAVANILA line just gets better with … every product they put out. I can’t think of one line where I’ve not only tried just about every product in the line but also liked them (I’m an antiperspirant/deodorant girl and theirs is only antiperspirant so I’ve never tried it). In looking at the order of which products of theirs I like the most, I’m moving their new Forever Fragrance Oil in Vanilla Grapefruit ($25/8ml only @ dermstore.com) up towards the top of the list, if not at the top.

One of the major reasons I’m digging this one is because of the overall sweet oriental scent but the other is because it lasts a long time on the skin. No apply-it and then where’s-it-at here! The base of this scent is sweet almond oil and there’s no alcohol inside so it’s super concentrated. It’s made with essential oils and contains notes of grapefruit, bergamot, lime, orange, cedarwood, heliotrope, and Madagascar vanilla. Big recommendation. Also available in Vanilla Coconut and Pure Vanilla

Lavanila for Shower and Shave

Lavanila-The-Healthy-Body-Wash-2-in-1-Shower-&-Shave LAVANILA just came out with a 2-in-1 called The Healthy Body Wash 2-In-1 Shower & Shave. And while the price tag of $15/8oz may seem a tad steep, think about the price of a body wash that you use and shaving cream and you are cutting down on the amount of waste by using a 2-in-1. Before I tried this one, I took one of my regular body washes I had in the shower and applied some under my arms to wash and then took a razor to see if this was just a gimmick and you know, it’s not. The body wash I used didn’t seem to give me the razor the same glide. Should I have tried another body wash? Ok, let’s not get crazy!

And like all other Lavanila products, this one is made without parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes and other nasties we should all try to avoid in our products.

And this one comes in all their scents, Pure Vanilla, Vanilla Coconut, Vanilla Grapefruit, Vanilla Lavender and Vanilla Passion Fruit. Pick up yours @ sephora.com.

Will Lavanila Help Lure Love My Way?

Lavanila-Vanilla-Passionfruit-Eau-de-Parfum Today may be the official day of love around the world but every day is Valentine’s Day on Cybelesays because day after day I declare my love of various beauty products! And I think I’m getting some off-line help on the love front with this next one. There are very few brands that are featured over and over on the site but LAVANILA is one that has been consistent. The latest product added to the line is the Vanilla Passion Fruit Eau de Parfum ($58/1.7oz @ dermstore.com). Like their other six fragrances in the line, this one is also free of a lot of things like parabens, synthetic dyes and fragrances, phthalates and sulfates, among others so they call this a healthy fragrance.

So what does this one smell like exactly? It’s in the oriental family and is a blend of passion fruit, guava, and peach nectar on a warm base of sandalwood and Madagascar vanilla.

And how does this one help me on the love front? It contains a blend of aphrodisiac oils like Blue Lotus, Clary Sage and Juniper Berry, so I’ll let you know if this one works in attracting a winner!

Lavaniladuo_3We loved their healthy fragrances when they came out and LAVANILA has just added some decadent moisturizers to the line. The Healthy Body Butter ($25/8oz @ sephora.com) is 100% pure Shea and cocoa butters dosed with 'good for you' ingredients like Goji Berry, essential vitamins and minerals.
