Superfood Face Care from Lather

Lather-Caviar-Lime-AHA-Cleansing-Creme-and-Australian-Plum-Night-Creme

The word superfood is everywhere these days, in the obvious place, foods, but it’s also cropped up in skin care like in these two from the LATHER brand. Now I expect a lot out of my skin care products that I use. Multi-tasking is the name of the game!

I’ve been using their Caviar Lime AHA Cleansing Crème ($21/4oz @ lather.com) and the Australian Plum Night Crème ($43/1.8oz @ lather.com) for the past 6 weeks and I think the brand is onto something with these two.

Here’s the breakdown:

Caviar Lime AHA Cleansing CrèmeWhat it is

Reveal a smoother, brighter and more even-looking complexion with this luxurious and creamy foaming cleanser infused with Caviar Lime, a small yet powerful citrus fruit from Australia. Also known as Finger Lime or Microcitrus Australasica, Caviar Lime is especially rich in precious alpha hydroxy acids that gently exfoliate the skin’s surface to reveal more supple and radiant skin. The fruit also contains brightening, skin-protecting antioxidant Vitamin C.

With the addition of water, the thick cream transforms into a velvety soft mousse to sweep away dirt, excess oil and makeup. The formulation is enriched with nourishing botanicals that include meadowfoam seed oil, an excellent source of Vitamin E, and sodium hyaluronate (from hyaluronic acid) to keep skin’s moisture in balance.

Holding Onto Summer with Lather

Lather-Jasmine-&-Plumeria-Body-Oil
I’m still trying to hold onto the last feels of summer and LATHER’s new Jasmine & Plumeria Body Oil ($28/3.8oz @ lather.com) are helping me. I mean what’s not to like about jasmine? It’s in a lot of my perfumes and plumeria reminds me of the handful of times I’ve visited the Hawaiian island of Kauai.

And this oil is made with good stuff! Check it out for yourself:

Lather-Jasmine-&-Plumeria-Body-Oil-ingredients

caprylic/capric triglyceride (an emollient derived from coconut and glycerin), glycine soja (soybean) oil, carthamus tinctorius (safflower) seed oil, dicaprylyl ether, dicaprylyl carbonate, plumeria acutifolia flower extract, jasminum officinale (jasmine) flower extract, lavandula angustifolia (lavender) oil, citrus nobilis leaf oil, cananga odorata (ylang ylang) flower oil, fragrance*, tocopherol (family of vitamin E compounds). *natural fragrance

If I’m an ingredient reader of any beauty product, it’s face and body oils. It’s just so easy to hide fillers and synthetics inside them to take up space. I feel like they sink in so easily that I only want to put the most real ones on my skin. This one passes.

And this scent also comes in a Body Whip ($28/7oz) and a Bath Gel ($18/8oz).

This Scrub is Safe for You, Safe for Our Oceans

Wow, I have never gone this long without posting! A bad cold has gotten the best of me the past week and I’ve been in bed every day and today is the first day I’m finally seeing the light.

Lather Skincare

So onward to another review!

Check out this review of the Lather Exfoliating Scrub and Lather Cleansing Oil.

With the popularity of face and body scrubs comes the numerous products to use and with that comes the dreaded microbead. We’ve recently learned that microbeads are tiny balls of plastic that do not disappear or dissolve but rather end up in our oceans with animals eating them thinking they are food. Because these particles are so small, they wash down the drain and pass through sewage treatment plants.

Thankfully there is awareness about this and there are bills in place but they won’t go into effect for a few years, so that’s why we as consumers need to pay attention and not use exfoliating products with microbeads. Read more @ 5gyres.org.

Check out this review of the Lather Exfoliating Scrub and Lather Cleansing Oil.

One brand that’s never ever used a microbead is LATHER. Take their Chia Seed & Passion Fruit Exfoliating Gel ($29/4oz @ lather.com), It uses finely ground jojoba beads to physical exfoliate and a combination of pineapple and papaya to act as a chemical exfoliation. Great for all types of skin!

Accompany your scrubbing experience by cleansing with their Chia Seed & Passion Fruit Cleansing Oil ($22/4oz @ lather.com). I’m really loving this gentle cleansing oil, which uses organic chia seed oil to clean away dirt and makeup. And it won’t strip the skin dry as it contains omega-3 alpha linolenic acids and passion fruit seed oi, which is also known as maracuja oil, and a beauty buzz word, grape seed oil and vitamin E.

These Two are Giving Me Life

Lather-Bamboo-Silk-Foaming-Face-Scrub-and-Vaseline-Healing-Serum
LATHER Bamboo Silk Foaming Face Scrub with Lemongrass
($23/4oz @ lather.com) – I try not to overdo the exfoliation this time of year but either way, I make sure whichever one I’m using does not contain any exfoliates that will damage my skin. This one uses powdered bamboo and jojoba beads to exfoliate and essential oils to encourage cell production.

VASELINE Intensive Care Healing Serum ($7.99/6.8oz @ walgreens.com and amazon.com) – now this is a new category – a serum for the body. It contains 3 ingredients to heal super dry skin and comes in 3 different formulas – Deep Repair, Advanced Relief and Radiance Restore. The Advanced Repair shown here smells of roses and vanilla. Yum!

Lather Gives a Tint

I always say, if you have to moisturize your lips, do it with the shade! I mean, there are so many lip balm options these days that plain and dull ol’ balm with no pizzazz is not the only one.

Just out with their version is LATHER and their three shades of Tinted Lip Balm - Pink Peony (shimmery pink), Plush Plum, and Cinnabar Silk.

How to Get Your House Holiday Ready

Each year, when I’m trying to think of new ways to get my house ready for any holiday, I try to keep each of the 5 senses in mind and what appeases each when I think of that holiday.

  • What I see
  • What I hear
  • What I smell
  • What I taste
  • What I touch

Going Coconuts With Lather!

I have quite the love affair with the LATHER line. I mean, one of their products is in my Hall of Fame. *sigh* Anyway, since I got back from Hawaii a few weeks ago, there have been a few things on my mind and one is coconut. When I got home, one of the first things I did was pull out any coconut products I had stashed in my beauty closet and put them front and center so I could continue to sorta be on vacation. Thankfully some from Lather were part of this group!

Lather-Coconut-Foaming-Body-ScrubThey just came out with three based on the yummy fruit:

(new) Coconut Foaming Body Scrub ($19/4oz) – contains coconut shell and bamboo stem powder, coconut extracts and essential oils, among others. And it foams!! Love it.

(new) Coconut Crème Body Wash ($18/8oz) – this one smells like Hawaiian heaven! Coconut oil, Aloe Vera and Apricot oils give your nose a treat, while cleansing and nourishing the body with Shea Butter and Bamboo extract.

(existing) Coconut Crème Body Whip ($22/4oz) – top your vaca experience with this light crème infused with coconut oil, aloe, shea, jojoba seed oil and some major anti-oxidants like vitamins A, C and E.

All @ lather.com.

What scent brings you into Spring and Summer? Let me know in the comments!

Hall of Fame *review* Lather Bamboo Lemongrass Foaming Body Scrub

Lather-Bamboo-Lemongrass-Foaming-Body-ScrubLather Bamboo Lemongrass Foaming Body Scrub – Hall of Fame Worthy?

Pros – a really concentrated body scrub that exfoliates every inch of the skin.
Cons – not a novelty anymore.

Does it stay in the Hall of Fame?
