Spring (Scents) Are in the Air!

Everything is coming up … springtime scents right now and here are just a few that are at the top of my list. Each highlights a floral or fruit we often associate with spring. Are any of these your favorites?

Spring-Scents-2013-Part-1EMINENCE ORGANIC Apricot Sugar Scrub ($48/8.4oz @– this one smells like the definition of Spring and it’s made of all things good for the skin like Alpha Hydroxy Acids, apricot juice and pulp and their signature Biocomplex, which is a concoction of antioxidants and vitamins.

INEKE Hothouse Flower ($95/2.5oz @ and – If you are all about gardenia, this is a good one to investigate. Know that this is not your typical gardenia though; it’s a little complex with the mix of notes like earl grey tea, green foliage, fig, frankincense on a base of guiaiacwood and musk.

THYMES Temple Tree Jasmine Body Wash ($19/9.25oz @ – another one you have to have to really welcome Spring and that’s jasmine. This one puts it front and center with a mix of jasmine, honeysuckle, ylang ylang, damask rose and coconut milk.

HOUSE OF HOUBIGANT Orangers en Fleurs ($180/3.3oz eau de parfum, $600/3.3oz parfum @ – how could you welcome Spring and not do it with orange? This one highlights orange but really steps up the sexiness by adding Rose Absolute, Egyptian Jasmine Absolute, middle notes or Tuberose, Eau de Brouts, Ylang Comores and Nutmeg on a base of Cedar Wood and Musk. Really unique! It also comes in a lotion and crème for layering.

Fall Scent Pick – INeKE Sweet William Eau de Parfum

INeke-Sweet-William-eau-de-parfumReady ... SWITCH!! As in, switch perfumes! The new season is upon us and it’s time to put your light, airy scents at the back. New some new recommendations? I’ve have a few I’ve been trying out and have some hot off the presses ones for you to consider.

One at the top of my list that has Fall written all over it was created exclusively for the Anthropologie stores as part of their Curiosities Perfume Collection, it’s Sweet William from San Francisco-based perfume house, INeKE, and yes, it does have some association with the royal couple. Kate Middleton included it in her bridal bouquet. How cool is that!?

This eau de parfum soliflore (a fragrances replicating the scent of a single flower and yes, I had to look this word up), is described as,  opens with a peach note, then warmed with cinnamon, clove and cumin essential oils. The dominant wood notes are a blend of cedarwood, sandalwood and patchouli, softened with Bourbon vanilla. You really have to smell it to appreciate the depth of this one. Big recommendation but I am so into it right now and officially ready for fall. $68/2.5oz @

Ineke's Latest Brings Us to Paris

Ineke-Field-Notes-from-Paris-fragrance The INEKE line just came out with a new scent called Field Notes from Paris ($88/2.5oz @ and It’s unisex and is a Woody Oriental, which can be overwhelming for some. Unlike other categories in beauty, that’s the beauty (pun intended!) of fragrances, if you know your notes, then you can simply read about a fragrance and pretty much know if it’s one you should check out. So if you already know you like the sexy Woody Oriental or are looking for a fragrance that makes a statement, read on.

  • Top: Coriander Seed, Orange Flower, Bergamot
  • Middle: Tobacco Flower & Leaf, Patchouli, Cedar
  • Base: Tonka Bean, Leather, Beeswax, Vanilla

Up Close And Personal with Ineke

I’ve heard that when a woman wears a fragrance, only those physically closest to her should be able to smell it. It’s like her own secret that she chooses to share with a select few. And this next one is just up that alley and has great staying power. Please help me welcome INEKE’s newest scent Evening Edged In Gold ($88/2.5oz @ It is not overwhelmingIneke2_2 when I put it on and could only smell it when I waived my wrist about five inches past my nose. Wrangle him closer with top notes of gold osmanthus and plum. He’ll come a few inches closer when he smells that middle notes of angel’s trumpet, saffron and a dash of cinnamon. Know that he’s all yours when he gets whiff of the base notes of midnight candy, leather and woods. Also, check out their sample collection, which allows you to sample a 1/5ml vial before committing to the bigger sizes.
