Holiday Hair with #SamsClubHairCollection

Suave-Avocado-+-Olive-Oil-Shampoo-and-Conditioner-at-Sam's-Club
We are full-on into the holiday season and I have not had a chance to get my hair trimmed! What’s a girl to do? Well, improvise, for one, and since I had a huge holiday get-together this past weekend, I think my hair style came out pretty well.

Whenever I am overdue for a cut and have an event or party to go to, this wavy side look has become my go-to style. It’s dressy and hides the fact that, well, I’m due for a cut.

For this one, I start with Suave Avocado + Olive Oil Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner that I pick up in huge 40oz bottles at my local Sam’s Club. We are in frizzy season and these hair products contain avocado and olive oil, which is known for their rich emollients, which helps keep the frizzies away. And since it’s been so hot, I love that this duo protects from frizz, even in 95% humidity!

I will be in Sam’s Club a lot this season picking up essential party supplies and I always know I can depend on their hair care aisle. They make it so easy because they carry familiar brands like TRESemme, Suave Kids, and Nexxus, to name a few. You can also see more here.

What you will need for this tutorial:

  • 1” barrel curling iron
  • Duckbill clips
  • 3 French side combs
  • Fascinator

#HolidayHairHowTos with CVS

This post is sponsored by Mirum, but opinions expressed are my own.

Dove-and-TRESemme-products-in-my-bathroom
The holidays are pretty much upon us and last minute get-togethers will be common place so I wanted to create a cool hair style for when these crop up. I love that I can get all I need to create any style at my local CVS. Their hair care aisle is bursting with all the latest hair care products from brands you know like TRESemmé®, Suave® and Dove.

TRESemme-TRES-TWO-Spray-on-the-CVS-shelf

I’ve been wearing my hair in a bun lately but when I make a top knot, the bun part is kind of boring so I found a way to jazz it up with braids and what I call the braided bun. It’s really easy to do!

What you will need for this tutorial:

  • Elastic band
  • Lots of bobby pins
  • Hair spray
  • Dry shampoo

TRESemme-TRES-TWO-Extra-Hold-Hair-Spray-in-action
The key to this style is sleek and polished. The bun itself can be a little disheveled but the rest of the hair should be smooth. I achieved a really smooth finish without being crunchy with TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Hair Spray. It gives me max control and tames those frizzies beautifully. This is a key product in this tutorial.

Dove-Volume-&-Fullness-Dry-Shampoo
After putting dry hair into a high ponytail, divide the hair in half and make a braid with each side. Before making each braid, spray some dry shampoo along the hair in the ponytail. I like to use Dove Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo to give strands some grip, which will help hold the braid longer than without.

You don’t have to elastic the ends of each braid since you will be tucking them inside the bun, but you can if you want to.

Braided-Bun-tutorial-braids

Then, wrapping one braid around the middle and then the other, pin with bobby pins as you go around. Make sure you are always holding the ends of the hair as you go around so they don’t become unraveled. Top with more TRESemmé hairspray to seal it all in, and you’re done.

Have You Experienced #SamsClubHairCollection?

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum but all opinions are my own.

Buying-Suave-Avocado-+-Olive-OIl-Shampoo-and-Conditioner-at-Sam's-Club
The months of September and October seem to set my hair into a tizzy as the weather is all over the place. One day it’s super hot and the next it’s chilly. My strands get so frizzy so I use Suave Avocado + Olive Oil Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner. This duo sends the frizz packing as it smooth strands just as well as Aveda Smooth Infusion Shampoo & Conditioner but for way less $$ and the Suave duo protects from frizz even in 95% humidity! Does it work from the 100% natural avocado and olive oil used in the formulas? Not exactly sure but I always know I can pick up the jumbo sizes at Sam’s Club and they always have a truckload of all their hair care brands in stock, likeTRESemme, Nexxus and Suave Kids. Check out the details on all the hair care products Sam’s Club carries @ samsclub.com.

As we all know, nothing kills a cool looking hair style than hair frizz, and I’ve got an easy one to share that I’ve been wearing quite a bit this season. It gives my hair light natural waves.

Beachy-waves-tutorial-still

After washing with Suave Avocado + Olive Oil Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner, simply divide the hair on half on either side of your head, twist each of the two sections individually and then twist them together. Then use a flat iron starting from about halfway down to the ends. Allow it to cool and done. So. Easy!

Are You Down with #SamsClubHairCollection?

Disclaimer: Post sponsored by Mirum. All opinions are my 100% my own.

Pick-up-TRESemme-at-Sam's-Club
Where do you do most of your weekly shopping? Because I live in the city, there are not many warehouse stores nearby but I do make an effort to hit one up every other month when I visit my brother because I like to stock up on items like toilet paper, tissues, sneakers every few months, and of course hair care. They carry well-known Unilever brands like Suave, Suave Kids, Nexxus and TRESemmé. See more about the brands by clicking here

TRESemme-Repair-&-Protect-Shampoo-and-Conditioner

I love hair care items by TRESemmé like the Repair & Protect Shampoo and Conditioner shown here. These protect from chemical, mechanical and heat damage and they are formulated with biotin to help strengthen strands.

And since we’re officially headed into the holidays, I know I’ll be entertaining at our home a lot and I never know who will show up at our doorstep! As a host, I need to be the three C’s at all times, calm, cool, collected, and I’m adding a word to this list, prepared! And it’s not just about having food at the ready. Keeping the guests bathrooms well-stocked is important as I always want my guests to feel as comfortable as if they were in their own home. That’s very important to me.

And isn’t it all about getting out of the store as quick as you can? Well Sam’s Club offers a Scan & Go app where you can use their app to scan the bar code of each product as you shop, pay for the items through the app and then show your receipt as you exit the store. No more long lines to wait in!

#YourStyleYourWay with TRESemme

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Mirum, but all opinions expressed are my own.

Festival-Ready-with-TRESemme
Does it seem like there are more music festivals around the country these days? I’ve been to 3 of them this summer, which is more than I’ve been to in one season ever! And living in California, there are more than I can count to attend so I have to be selective.

I totally have a go-to festival hair style too! I’ve tried a few different looks over the years and this half up/half down seems to work best for me. It’s relaxed yet fun and so simple to do!

Festival-Ready-with-TRESemme-2

Parting the hair down the middle, make a braid on each side starting at the front of each side and I like to make some beachy waves under the braids. I always top it off with a fascinator I’m liking at the moment. What do you think of this look?

Holding-TRESemme-Repair-&-Protect-7-Instant-Recovery-Mask

These festivals are quite the scene so you totally have to plan what you’re going to wear and yet be comfortable yet stylish, right? And dried out strands are just not going to cut it at these festivals so that’s why I rely on hair products I purchase at CVS/pharmacy from TRESemmé, Dove and Suave. I kind of live by the motto #BetterCareforFestivalHair so about 1 week before I go, I give my hair the super treatment with TRESemmé Repair & Protect 7 Instant Recovery Mask. In just 5 minutes it gives my strands an intensive moisture boost and gets it ready to handle what the desert is going to dish out. All that sun etc. really does a number on my hair.

Micellar Technology Enters the Hair Care Category with Redken

Redken-Clean Maniac Micellar-Shampoo

By now we’ve all heard of the glory that is micellar water and products. How did we ever exist without it all these years? Well, we’re at phase 2 now with other types of products coming out that use it like this one from REDKEN. It’s their Clean Maniac Micellar Clean Touch Shampoo.

As you may recall, tiny micelles inside a product act like a magnet and attach itself to dirt, oils and even odors to make them easier to remove. So it only seems obvious to use it in hair care products, right?

And they claim that this is gentler on strands than a clarifying shampoo, can be used everyday and using this won’t harm your bottle/salon hair color. Check, check and checkmate!

Pick it up for $19/10.1oz, $34/33.8oz @ ulta.com and they also offer a conditioner and styling products in the collection. Is this something you are interested in trying out?

Beauty from the Inside Out with Glow by Nature Made®

Disclosure:  I was asked by Carusele to participate in the #MoisturizeFromWithin campaign sponsored by Walgreens. Although I have been compensated, all opinion are my own.

Everyone thinks that beauty is just on the outside but how you feel inside can dictate everything in your life - from how you dress, to how you carry yourself throughout the day. Now I admit, I am not a morning person; just ask my college roommates! And for my job, I don’t have to dress up unless I have a meeting so the less I have to do in the morning before leaving for work, the better.

Glow by Nature Made®, a full review of supplements for hair and nails.

Glow by Nature Made®

On those days where I do find myself with an extra 5 or 10 minutes, I put on a little face or do my nails. Now, my nails are … not good. I wasn’t born with that gene and it drives me crazy. I mean, how can I be a beauty blogger and not have good nails to try out all the fab polish colors out there? My nails are just dry and peel and there doesn’t seem to be much I’ve been able to do about. I’ve tried all those strengthening polishes but they have not seemed to do much. So just like my outlook on life, I’ve taken to trying to do something from the inside out.

Glow by Nature Made®, a full review of supplements for hair and nails.

Glow by Nature Made®, a full review of supplements for hair and nails.
I’ve been taking Glow by Nature Made® Skin Moisture + Hair & Nails, which I picked up in the supplement aisle at my local Walgreens, for the past 30 days to #MoisturizefromWithin. As you can see from the below photos taken over the last month, my nails seem to have benefited from taking care of the inside out! The key ingredient to this product are Ceramides, which is already found in cell membranes and it’s what holds skin together, and biotin, which supports healthy hair, skin and nails. So by replenishing them with moisture, which is lost from aging and other factors, they are plumped up from moisture and are able to retain it. So in laymen’s terms, my nails are able to grow!

Glow by Nature Made® supplements are able to hydrate the skin in as little as 15 days*, and are so what I nails need right now.

So now I get out of bed when the alarm goes off instead of hitting the snooze a few times, just so I have time to put some color on my newly growing fingernails!

Pick up Glow by Nature Made® Skin Moisture + Hair & Nails at your local Walgreens in the vitamin section.

And make sure to take advantage of the $3 off coupon on every box of Glow by Nature Made® at Walgreens stores nationwide.

"Survive the Summer" with Ralphs

Disclaimer: This post is sponsored by Kroger. All words are my own.

Where do you pick up most of your everyday beauty products? I’ve pretty much been conditioned since I was a teen and started shopping, to get them when buying my weekly groceries. I mean, who has time to go to this store and that store? And in my house, when something is running low our out, it has to be listed on the pad of paper on the refrigerator and thankfully almost every item on my weekly list is available at my local Ralphs, which is part of the Kroger Family of Stores. They carry what I need and there’s usually some kind of sale going on for shampoo or sunscreen so of course I can take advantage of that!

And now that the temps are going up, the kids want to be outside, I can spend more time with them since I have Ralphs and they everything I need at the ready and at great prices.

Here are two of the items I regularly pick up:

Pick-up-Shea-Moisture-at-Ralphs
Shea Moisture African Black Soap

Garnier-SkinActive-Micellar-Cleansing-Water
Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleaning Water

And some others I regularly buy, which includes Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer, CoverGirl Plumpify BlastPro Mascara, as well as John Frieda Frizz Ease Flexible Hold Hairspray with Keraflex.

Ralphs wants to help you “Survive the Summer” so beginning May 28 through June 10 you can download over $40 in digital coupons, including the ones shown here, @ Ralphs.com/Beauty.

Are You In On the Latest Hair Trend?

Hair-Texturizers-Kerastase-IGK-Oribe
Texture is king these days and since I get the heebie-jeebies from those sea salt sprays, I am always on the lookout for other that will give my hair some. Here are 3 that are tops in my house right now.

KÉRASTASE V.I.P Volume In Powder ($37/6.8oz, $20.50/2.5oz @ kerastase.com) – this one can be used like a dry shampoo and I use this along my part to give the hair on either side of it a little lift. And this one is perfect to use on second-day hair.

ORIBE Dry Texturizing Spray ($46/8.5oz, $22/2.2oz @ oribe.com, nordstrom.com) – Yes, this one is a tad expensive but it has a huge cult following so it must be something, right? I like using this on dry hair to give my hair some grip so it’s not so smooth. And I love that this one doesn’t make my hair tangle, which texturizers can sometimes do.

IGK ‘Sold Out’ Curl Priming Basecoat ($27/5oz @ igkhair.com, sephora.com) – this is a good one for conditioning and defrizzing wavy and curly hair. Since my hair has a slight wave, I like to use products that can help show it off once-in-a-while and this one helps me do that. Use on wet hair before styling or dry to re-activate the style. And I love that this one has what they call the IGK New York scent, a blend of black pepper, blackberries, violet, geranium on a base of leather accord. So this could also be your hair perfume!

Disclosure: Some of these items were provided for review purposes. Some I bought.

Spring is finally here so perk up your parts with some new products. Are you ready? I am  and here’s how I'm doing it.

1. Hands TOUCH GermBlock ($5.99/1oz @ walgreens.com) – this one claims to protect hands from germs for up to 6 hours! How do you know it’s working? Well, I can’t think of a way to test it so just have to take their word for it or better yet, test it out. Available in Unscented, OceanMist, Tropical Breeze, and Mint Green Tea Aloe.

2. Refresh - PIXI BEAUTY Vitamin Wakeup Mist ($15/2.70oz @ pixibeauty.com) – when temps rise I make sure I always have a face mist at the ready and Pixi just came out with a few news ones. This one sure wakes my skin up!

3. Skin ACURE Purifying Fruit Peel ($22.99/1.4oz @ acureorganics.com) – this one uses acids found naturally inside mangos, bitter cherry and raspberry, among others to exfoliate. A thin layer on the face and neck for 5 to 8 minutes 1 or 2 times a week is all it takes.

4. Hair CUVÉE BEAUTY Champagne Spray ($45/5oz @ revolve.com) – I find that when I spray this one and this one both on towel dried hair, I get the perfect blowout that lasts for a few days. A perfect tousled/piecey look!

5. LipsHIGHLIGHT Liquid Lipstick in Sahara Rendezvous ($25 @ highlightcosmetics.com) – lipstick is good but metallic lipstick is better this season! And this coppery/bronze shade will go with any tan. And this one dries down all the way but not dry like a desert.

6. CheeksBENEFIT GALifonia Powder Blush ($29 @ benefitcosmetics.com, macys.com) – a pinky blush with a touch of sunkissed gold and smells like grapefruit and vanilla. Yum!
