#TREStouchablestyle with TRESemmé Micro-Mist

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum but all opinions are my own. Please see below for additional disclosure.

How are you taming your hair this season? Each year I pick a go-to style where it’s up off my neck. In the past, I’ve had hair almost down to my waist so I was able to get pretty creative. Now that it’s shoulder length, I feel slightly limited in my styles but I’ve been scouring the Internet lately and found one I love. And just like applying makeup, your hair style has to hold and I’ve been using TRESemmé’s compressed Micro-Mist hairsprays found at CVS and I found the superfine mist really helps keep humidity at bay for hours but my hair is still touchable.

#GetYourNEXXUSPhix with Keraphix Collection from NEXXUS

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum but all opinions are my own. Please see below for additional disclosure.

I think most of us have some kind of damage to our hair at least some time in our lives. What do you do to help keep your strands healthy in between hair treatments? Hair color, chemical treatments, curling irons, even blow drying all are stressful to hair, so if you want to keep it healthy and in shape, you want to pay attention to the products you use on it, especially your shampoo and conditioner.

Right up my alley is the NEXXUS Keraphix Healing System for Severely Damaged Hair that’s rolling out at local ULTA stores and The brand created a Keraphix blend that contains a PROTEINFUSION blend of Keratin Protein and Black Rice, which penetrates hair to heal strain on the strands. With prolonged use of their three-step process of Keraphix Shampoo for Damaged Hair, Keraphix Conditioner for Damaged Hair and the Keraphix Gel Treatment for Damaged Hair, your hair will thank you by being more resilient.

#SpringIntoCVS with ApotheCARE Essentials

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum but all opinions are my own. Please see below for additional disclosure.

I feel like everyone is in the spring cleaning frame-of-mind right now! I went to a party over the weekend and the hosts had all kinds of items set aside in their garage for a yard sale this coming weekend. No, I didn’t go and see if there was anything in the stash I wanted to buy. I was good!

This month my motto is Spring Into Beauty, #SpringIntoCVS. And since there’s a CVS located just down the street from me, I visit a few times a week. And you know that I’m always on the lookout for new brands they’re carrying like the ApotheCARE Essentials line. I discovered them recently and like that the products contain natural ingredients like cold pressed rosehip oil, Aloe Vera and Rose Oil in this Booster Shampoo that’s been on regular rotation. It’s made to give my hair volume, which I always need and you won’t find any silicones, parabens, or dyes in the formula.

I’m pretty picky about a conditioner so the Colorist Conditioner also sits within easy reach tub-side. Not only does it protect my newly lightened color but it also contains Moroccan mint and steamed distilled lavender to stimulate the roots and keep my strand nourished. And like the above, this one doesn’t contain those pesky parabens, dyes or silicones in the formula either.

#TakeANewLook18 at Spring!

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum but all opinions are my own. Please see below for additional disclosure.

Spring is here, finally, and though we here in Los Angeles certainly did not get the brunt of the storms this past season; I’m still hankering for the warmth and mega sunshine. Each year my family and I designate a specific March weekend day to do what we call, the “change over,” where we each go through our own clothes, shoes, etc. and pull the winter items out we want to store. Each of us puts our items in the hallway and my husband comes by with a huge bin (sometimes two) marked 'winter' where everything goes in and it goes downstairs for the season.

Do you do something like this? After the clothes are taken care of, I immediately visit the beauty closet to change up my products for the season. You should always change in your beauty routine and products based on the time of year. In the colder months, heavier creams are great and also darker nails colors, etc., whereas with the warmer times of year like spring and summer, body oils, fruity-smelling products and pastel shadows are my thing.

NYFW Looking Strands with TRESemmé Micro-Mist

This post is sponsored by Mirum. All opinions expressed are my own.

It’s officially New York Fashion Week (NYFW) where all the fashionistas gather to see what the clothing industry has to offer to the upcoming season. Hair and makeup are a major part of every show and I made a tiny resolution a few weeks ago to try and style my hair a few times a week and this next product is helping me do that and be fancy like those at NYFW.

I guess the closest I will get to NYFW is a night out with friends or to a fancy dinner, which is fine by me and these events don’t always mean an extreme updo. In fact, when I googled, “top hairstyles for shoulder-length hair,” this style I’m about to show you came up in many pictures. And I can see why. It’s simple, elegant and easy to do and I'm sure many versions of it will end up on the runways. #TresRunway2018

And I’m creating it in celebration of TRESemmé Micro-Mist Line just launching at CVS stores nationwide and @ It’s the latest from the brand that helps achieve and hold the latest styles with natural movement without the stiffness. These sprays use a superfine micro-mist that’s able to penetrate through the top layer of hair to provide deeper coverage throughout hair. This is due to the blend of duo polymers inside the spray that forms bonds to hold hair in place but still allowing it to move. Because the spray inside these Micro-Mist Hair Sprays are compressed, the cans are smaller (5.5oz) than the traditional 11oz size so it will last just as long. And look how sleek and sexy the can is! It fits nicely on my hand and I have a good grip on it.

Wet Brush Hair Detangle Brush

File this next product under ‘how did I miss this??’ I grew up with very knotty hair. It was quite a task to untangle it after a bath/shower. My hair would grow really long and my mother would get so frustrated and cut it all off. I was asked a few times if I was a boy back then.

She would have been in heaven if this brush existed back then as I still have knotty hair here and there and this WET BRUSH is just heaven-sent!

So you’re thinking, “it’s a brush. How gentle can it be?” Well it is and the secret is their IntelliFlex bristles with SofTips that are not only thin but strong and flexible. This all but eliminates breakage as I hate the thought of breaking hair off because of a knot.

Superfood for Hair from Pureology

Lotta buzz around the word ‘superfood’ lately, or at least on my blog, and we have one here for the hair. When I think of superfood, I don’t really think of something for the strands but it makes sense but the PUREOLOGY brand has come out with their definition of it with these two Superfood Treatments for hair. One is the Hydrate Superfood Treatment and the other is Strength Cure Superfood Treatment.

Both are vegan and silicone-free and great for this time of year.

  • Hydratemade with coconut and avocado oils to nourish hair with moisture.
  • Strength Cure made with goji berry extract oil to protect and olive oil for smoothness and shine.

And these only require 5 minutes in the hair to do their work! While these didn’t do much when it came to detangling, it really made my hair soft and it just felt healthier overall. Like all Pureology products, these are made just for those who color-treat their hair.

$44/6oz each @,

Truly Natural with NaturALL Club

How much do you pay attention to what’s in your beauty products? Specifically, hair care products? I do somewhat because of this website but the long list of ingredient names can be a little confusing, so here is NATURALL CLUB to help take some of the guess work out of it.

I recently tried their Fresh Avocado Deep Conditioner ($19/4oz = two servings @ and I have to say with the two times I used it, I was delighted each time. Since we are in the dead of winter, my strands can use the extra moisture that these deliver. Check out the ingredients in the Dull Hair Solution one I tried: avocados, water, shea butter, extra virgin oil, avocado oil, honey, coconut oil, tea tree oil, lavender essential oil, vitamin E, guar gum (made of actual beans and used for its thickening and stabilizing properties) and citric acid. That’s it!

And while I’m only giving this a B when it comes to detangling, I found the soft and smooth strands it gave me made up for it.

What I also liked about this conditioner is that it is applied to damp hair (you leave it on for 20 to 40 minutes). So no need to jump in the shower, wet your hair, jump out, apply the mask, wait and then get back in the shower to rinse out. They do recommend storing the conditioner in the freezer between uses, which they recommend every two weeks (I wrote the date I need to use it next right on the package), and then using a dime size of the shea butter leave-in-serum once a week.

Choose from the Dry Hair Solution, Damaged Hair Solution, or a Dull Hair Solution.

Buy each product separately or join their monthly box club and save. Starts at $25/month and here are the contents of your Fresh Avocado Deep Conditioner Solution Box:

  1. NaturAll Club Deep Conditioner
  2. Spray bottle (only included in the starter box)
  3. NaturAll Club Hair Serum
  4. Hair Tie
  5. Hair Cap
  6. Ingredient Info Sheet

New in the Beauty Aisles at CVS - ApotheCARE

Disclosure: This post is sponsored by ApotheCARE. All words are my own.

I’m not sure if it’s an age thing or what, but I’ve become more meticulous about what I own in my house and have in my life. For one, I’ve cut down on eating meat, which hasn’t been easy. Growing up in a French household, the bread and meat were always central to the meal but they don’t have to be.

Along with this thinking comes a more judicious path of what I’m putting on my hair and skin, which brings me to this new to CVS line called ApotheCARE Essentials™. You can check out the line in their stores or buy them @ Their approach to their hair care and body care products is to combine cutting-edge science with nature. Each product takes nature’s offerings like lavender, rosehip and coconut milk, among others, and follows a 3-step scientific approach to craft each item:

  1. Precise selection of ingredients curated from 5 different continents!
  2. A unique technique to create an exclusive phyto-blend.
  3. An exclusive slow infusion process to maximize the potential of each ingredient.

The two I tried were for my hair - The Booster Dynamic Volume for Fine + Flat Hair Shampoo and The Booster Dynamic Volume for Fine + Flat Hair Conditioner. Formulated with cold pressed rosehip oil, steam distilled geranium and aloe vera, this shampoo and conditioner not only boosted my strands but made it really soft. And I really like the smell of these, which I think is the aloe vera, It’s really refreshing and not sweet, which is a nice surprise.

And don’t you like the packaging? It’s very modern and pretty middle of the road so my SO shouldn’t have an issue using these products as he says most in my shower are ‘too girly.’ His words not mine.

For someone who will do anything for bigger hair (me), I’ve used The Booster Shampoo and Conditioner a few times now, and I’m for sure seeing more volume and bounce to my hair, which I wasn’t really expecting. My hair is pretty flat in everyday life and if I don’t use anything to give it a boost, it’s pretty boring. ApotheCARE Essentials™ to the rescue!

And if you are watching your intake of preservatives etc. when it comes to the beauty products these days, like I am, you’ll be happy to know that neither of these contains parabens, dyes or silicones. Quality beauty products can be budget-friendly.

Customizable Hair Care with Mon Shampoing

We don’t really give much thought when it comes to hair care, just short of a few traits like if it’s for color-treated hair or moisturizing. What if you could really personalize your hair care products? Let me introduce you to the MON SHAMPOING brand. It’s the first customizable shampoo and conditioner. How it works is that they give you the base products like the Mon Shampoing Gentle Shampoo with Keratin – Neutral Base ($42/8.45oz) and the Mon Shampoing Gentle Conditioner with Keratin – Neutral Base ($43/8.45oz)and then options for add-ins of select essential and vegetable oils of various scents and ingredients for however your hair is behaving at the moment.

Both the Shampoo and conditioner are gentle and contain Keratin and no SLS’s, parabens or silicones.

For the 5 vials of essential and vegetable oils, choose from these:

  • Oily Hair: mint, rosemary and jojoba
  • Colored Hair: orange, ylang-ylang and Limnanthes Alba (known as meadowfoam)
  • Soft/thin/brittle hair: orange blossom, sage, grape seed
  • Dry/curly hair: lavender, geranium, argan
  • Delicate hair: lemon, lemongrass, sweet almond

So just choose your add-in, pour it into your shampoo/conditioner and you’re ready to go.

As mentioned above, why not just decide your concern while you are in the store shopping and pick a product made for your hair type? Like most products on the shelves, most contain preservatives and you basically get what you pay for in terms of quality. If your hair is your “thing” is your hair (my “thing” is my brows and feet), you want to use quality products on your strands to help hair look and act its best. I mean, if you buy a Ferrari, I don’t think you would use Turtle Wax on the finish, right?

I think this brand is onto something.
