I think it’s more wintery around the country right now than when this Shimmer Glow The Winter Palette Collection came out from DOLCE & GABBANA last month. So I don’t feel so bad taking a few to get to it but I’m glad I did. As seen on the models in their winter runway finale, these Shimmer Lip Lipsticks and Shimmer Powder are for sure the standouts from the collection that just go with everything.

Hot Pink Lippie Love - SHU UEMURA Vision of Beauty – Rouge Unlimited in Fuschia - $30 @ shuuemura.com – I’m a sucker for hot pink lippies and this one from Shu, with its hybrid pigment, is a really nice surprise for fall.
Nude Gloss Love - AERIN Weekday Lip Gloss - $30 @ neimanmarcus.com – it’s not often that I reach for a lip gloss but for some reason, a true nude lippie makes your look, well, look the most polished. And this nude gives color! Nothing worse than a nude that skimps on the pigment.
Primer Love - COVER FX Calming Primer - $38/1oz @ sephora.com – if your skin is sensitive or you have Rosacea, this face primer was made just for you. The Endothelyol inside relieves redness and they’ve also included St. John’s Wort inside to handle inflammation.
Face Illuminator Love - MIRABELLA Faerie Sparkle Swirling Pearl Brilliant - $40 @ dermstore.com – holiday parties are upon us, so why not add a touch of pearly glow to your cheeks and décolletage? This mineral-based highlighter is one of the better quality ones I’ve seen in some time.
I thought we had a brand new product on our hands from DOLCE & GABBANA with these Passion Duo Gloss Fusion Lipsticks ($36 @ saks.com) but upon doing some research, I found that these are just new added colors to the existing collection. Doh! I just love trying out a new category of beauty product.
What It Is: A velvety smooth lipstick with a satin gloss center. (the outside core) is matte pigment and a high-shine core that delivers a burst of boundless moisture for an impeccably balanced and sensual effect. Smooth, soft, and deliciously drenching, the Passion Duo Lipstick leaves lips with a sumptuous depth and scale of color.

DOLCE & GABBANA just added some new Classic Cream Lipstick colors as part of the Spring 2014 collection and I’ve got two for you to see! Bonbon (pale pink) and Bellissima (orange-based pink).
The quality of the shiny gold tube, embossed with the Dolce&Gabbana logo, and rose scent of the actual lipstick is classy and makes me feel like a true woman. And the cap makes a “click” when it closes, which was specially designed to evoke the sound made by lipstick tubes in the fifties. I guess I never really noticed that most lipstick tubes don’t make this noise anymore. Will have to pay attention more!
LORAC Lip Luxe 8 Hour Lip Color in Orchid ($16 @ dermstore.com) – this color is so right now! It’s not the typical red I tend to gravitate towards and wow, does it last a long time on my lips. And it’s infused with good stuff like Acai Berry, Pomegranate, Grape Seed and vitamins C & E, so glad to have this on my lips for hours.
ESCADA Born in Paradise EDT ($45/1oz, $45/1.6oz, $75/3.3oz @ lastcall.com) – I think half the country has been praying for spring and this new scent from Escada just brings my nose to it full throttle! The notes are sweet and springy – green apple, guava, watermelon, pineapple, coconut milk, jasmine tea, all on a base of sandalwood, cedarwood and musk.
SUN BUM Continuous Spray Sunscreen ($15.99/6oz @ walgreens.com and dermstore.com) – every season it’s a good idea to update your sunscreen and this season I’m trusting the Bum! Available in SPF 15, SPF 30, SPF 50 and SPF 70, I think one of these will have you cover (no pun intended) and since the continuous spray is widely available, is there any other way to go?
DOLCE & GABBANA The Brow Liner - Shaping Eyebrow Pencil ($45 @ saksfifthavenue.com, nordstrom.com) – when I first saw under the cap, it instantly reminded me of this one with its teardrop shape. Though I’m a fan of a harder formula like this one, I wouldn’t say this one is soft by any means, and, dare I say, I think that it lasts longer on my brows than my Holy Grail one. Yikes! Available in 4 shades,
GILLETTE Venus Snap Razor ($12.99 @ ulta.com) – yup it’s cute (so tiny and colorful), yup it’s compact (fits in the palm of your hand), and yup it has 5 blades. Weren’t we up to 4 last check? So now here’s 5! And it’s surprisingly easy to wield in the shower and the handy blue case makes it a travel no brainer.

1. DOLCE & GABBANA ‘Dolce’ EDP ($90/1.6oz, $112/2.5oz @ bluefly.com) – this scent was released to take the wearer, “on a sensual journey through the heart of Dolce&Gabbana’s DNA: the noble and evocative land of Sicily.” The scent opens with Neroli leaves, Papaya flower, White Water Lily, White Daffodil, White Amaryllis on a base of musk and accents of Cashmeran (a musky/powdery note) and floral accents.
2. HAMSA by Celine Leora Perfume ($65/3.4oz @ hamsa-perfume.com) – fascinated by the Hamsa amulet since child growing up in Morocco, the Creator of this fragrance wanted to use the symbol of it to provide the wearer with good fortune and protection, which the centuries-old symbol is known to have. She chose notes that represented the Easter, Western and Middle Eastern cultures by combining notes of White Lotus, Frankincense (not usually a fan of this scent but it works really nicely in this perfume), black currant and coffee. Another great one if you want to be the only one in the room wearing this.
3. MOLTON BROWN Heavenly Gingerlily Candle ($49/30 hours @ saks.com) – this floriental is just so…. Spring, summer, fall, really anytime kind of scent to smell but I’m really feeling it right now. The mix of cardamom, peach, ginger, jasmine, and plum really speak to me.
4. ATKINSONS 1799 Fashion Decree EDT ($175/3.3oz @ atkinsons1799.com and barneys.com) – this may say it’s an eau de toilette but it wears more like an eau de parfum as the notes just dance and dance for quite a bit of time before dying down; more than a traditional EDT. This one combines Pink Peppercorn, Chinese Magnolia, and Patchouli. If you like your scents tré unique, this might be one for you to check out.
5. Love2Love in Freesia + Violet Petals EDT from COTY ($9.98/3.4oz @ Walmart stores and walmart.com) – such a simple scent and so fitting for right now as we transition into a new season. And it won’t break the bank! It has top notes of peach blossom, lily petals and lavender; middle notes of freesia, rose and violet blossom; and bottom notes of sheer musk and heliotrope. So if you like your scents light and airy, this is one to check out. An eau de toilette is the lightest of all the perfume versions and this one for sure won’t enter the room before you do.

I'm starting a new on-going feature called "5 Favorite ... " where I list my 5 current favorite products in a particular category. So this week, I've chosen Pantone's Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid.
It’s almost like they picked it just because it’s such a great color when it comes to makeup! Here are my favorites when it comes to this color. Are you wearing any radiant orchid these days on your features?
THE BODY SHOP Bunch of Violets Shimmer Cubes Palette #23 ($22 @ thebodyshop.com) – this quad is great for creating an overall orchid-colored eye look. The cube shades are: Orchid Purple, Candy Pink, Pearly White and Velvet Plum. Use wet or dry and apply with brush or your finger and blend, blend, blend.
MARC JACOBS BEAUTY Shameless Bold Blush in #212 Outspoken ($30 @ sephora.com) – blend in this surprisingly workable shade on cheeks. So unexpectedly fun.
DOLCE & GABBANA The Nail Lacquer in Passione ($24 @ saks.com) – along with the Beauty Addicts, this one is a spot on perfect shade of the trending color. Gorg!
BEAUTY ADDICTS Lip Addiction in Seduce Fierce ($17 @ beautyaddicts.com) – I think this shade perfectly describes the shade. The coverage is sheer to medium depending how much you apply.
KANEBO Sensai Rouge Everlasting Colour in #115 Iwatsutsuji ($40 @ sensai-cosmetics.com) – this one is just a smidge more purple so if you want your trending shade more on that side, this would be a good one to try. And these lippies are really smooth and last quite a few hours.
With the huge success of nude makeup these days, I found a cool eye shadow quad in this family from the DOLCE & GABBANA brand. It’s The Eyeshadow Smooth Eye Colour Quad in Desert ($59 @ saksfifthavenue.com). Besides the usual, “are these shades something I would wear?” question, I like that each is a different finish – one is matte, one is metallic and one is satin and one is pearl. And to answer the previous question, yes, I think each of these four shades is totally wearable for all skin types.
