Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel & Precleanse

Dermalogica-Special-Cleansing-Gel-and-Precleanse
Have you heard of double cleansing yet? It’s funny because I didn’t even know the process had a name. I mean, you remove your makeup and then you wash your face right? Well the process is now known as double cleansing.

When I first heard the name (before the definition) I thought, wow, this is really going to overdo it on the face, no? But it actually doesn’t and I think it better for your skin in the long haul.

Removing makeup will also get rid of dirt, sebum and anything else hanging around that shouldn’t be there. And then you have a bare canvas to give a cleaning to. Makes sense, right?

Will This Be a New Skin Care Trend?

Dermalogica-Daily-Superfoliant
Charcoal seems to be quite a common beauty ingredient in the last few years whereas a powder face exfoliator like this one is more uncommon. I've come across a powder ones like this and this a few times over the years, so is it safe to say that a powder exfoliators are going to be a new trend in skin care? Only time will tell!

DERMALOGICA Daily Superfoliant ($58/2oz @ dermalogica.com, ulta.com) is a powder exfoliant that’s activated when mixed with water. It contains alpha hydroxy acids and a new anti-pollution technology, which uses Binchotan Charcoal, to help purify the skin from daily toxins from the environment. And then it uses Niacinamide, red algae and Tara Fruit Extract to keep new exterior toxins at bay. The environment is a major anti-ager with all that the skin has to face! So to give your face a thorough cleansing with this one, they recommend mapping out the face and massaging the activated product in small circles around it. There is a brochure inside the box that goes into more detail.

What I like about this one is that it stays fresh until you activate it so no rush to use it up in a specific amount of time.

Just tap out half a teaspoon to wet hands and create a creamy paste. Then rub around the face for about 1 minute and rinse. And it’s formulated without fragrance, color or parabens.

Are you ready for a new trend in the beauty category?

A Cult Fave from Dermalogica?

Dermalogica-Daily-Microfoliant-2 I was at a BBQ over the weekend and got to talking with a few girls about beauty (go figure) and face exoliants and what makes for a good one. One of the girls said all the ones she tried were much too harsh and irritating until she discovered the Daily Microfoliant from DERMALOGICA. This was odd timing as I had used it three times in the past few weeks and didn’t think it really did much for my skin but this girl swore up and down that it worked for her and that she has super sensitive skin.

It comes in a powder form you mix with water and uses a unique rice-base enzyme powder to exfoliate. It also has salicylic acid and a special skin brightening complex as well as a blend of green tea, ginkgo and Colloidal Oatmeal. So maybe that’s the secret with this one – since my skin is quite normal acting, it just doesn’t do much for me? Not sure but I'm going to keep on using it as she really was super into it. What about you? Have you tried this one? $50/2.6oz @ ulta.com.
