Everyday Minerals with Colorescience

Colorescience-Beauty-On the-Go-main
When I think of the COLORESCIENCE brand I think of their iconic sunscreen, face powders and the like, not an eye, lips, cheek, everything palette! But that’s what we have here with their Beauty on the Go Palette ($54 @ colorescience.comdermstore.com).

Now this one is not super crazy with all the bright colors and textures. I’ve had a couple of people write me about suggestions for an everyday palette and this is a good one to consider.

It’s 5 neutral-colored mineral powders that will flatter every single skin tone out there. And while I rarely hit pan on most of my makeup, I think I just might on this one and I view that as quite an accomplishment! What I like most about this one is the tote-ability of this. I mean, it’s eyes, and cheeks in one easy-to-carry palette.

What's On Your Beauty List?

Spring-has-sprung
Spring is finally here so perk up your parts with some new products. Are you ready? I am  and here’s how I'm doing it.

1. Hands TOUCH GermBlock ($5.99/1oz @ walgreens.com) – this one claims to protect hands from germs for up to 6 hours! How do you know it’s working? Well, I can’t think of a way to test it so just have to take their word for it or better yet, test it out. Available in Unscented, OceanMist, Tropical Breeze, and Mint Green Tea Aloe.

2. Refresh - PIXI BEAUTY Vitamin Wakeup Mist ($15/2.70oz @ pixibeauty.com) – when temps rise I make sure I always have a face mist at the ready and Pixi just came out with a few news ones. This one sure wakes my skin up!

3. Skin ACURE Purifying Fruit Peel ($22.99/1.4oz @ acureorganics.com) – this one uses acids found naturally inside mangos, bitter cherry and raspberry, among others to exfoliate. A thin layer on the face and neck for 5 to 8 minutes 1 or 2 times a week is all it takes.

4. Hair CUVÉE BEAUTY Champagne Spray ($45/5oz @ revolve.com) – I find that when I spray this one and this one both on towel dried hair, I get the perfect blowout that lasts for a few days. A perfect tousled/piecey look!

5. LipsHIGHLIGHT Liquid Lipstick in Sahara Rendezvous ($25 @ highlightcosmetics.com) – lipstick is good but metallic lipstick is better this season! And this coppery/bronze shade will go with any tan. And this one dries down all the way but not dry like a desert.

6. CheeksBENEFIT GALifonia Powder Blush ($29 @ benefitcosmetics.com, macys.com) – a pinky blush with a touch of sunkissed gold and smells like grapefruit and vanilla. Yum!

7. ComplexionCOLORESCIENCE Tint Du Soleil Whipped Foundation ($54/1oz @ colorescience.com, ulta.com) – this is one of those all-in-one foundations that includes SPF30, nourishing vitamins for the skin, and it wear beautifully. Available in 4 shades.

8. Clean - LE COUVENT DES MINIMES 3-in-1 Micellar Water ($19/13.5oz @ ulta.com) – time to lighten things up now that the temps are going up! So gently remove makeup and clean the skin with this one.

Why You Need to Be Using This Sunscreen

Colorescience-Sunforgettable-Broad-Spectrum-SPF-30

I really thought I wrote about this one when it came out and I certainly could of back when Cybelesays.com was a monthly before May 2007. Well it’s good enough to write about again and I still  don’t know of any other sunscreen that comes in this kind of powder form. COLORSCIENCE Sunforgettable Mineral Sunscreen Brush SPF 30 ($57/6g, $64/6g for SPF 50 @ colorescience.com, dermstore.com) comes in one of those self-dispensing tubes with a brush at one end. And it’s easy to use. Just move the brush in a circular motion and this will active the loose mineral powder to come in between the hair bristles.

And it has a retractable hard plastic brush sleeve that will help you close the tube after each use. So convenient for toting!

Apply this to your face, hands, body, everywhere really and each application gives up to 80-minutes of water-resistant UVA/UVB sun protection.

Probably my favorite trait of this is that it easily sweeps the protection over a made up face without messing it up like a liquid can. That’s worth it right there as I have not found any other sun protection product that will apply without messing up makeup. Look for about 90 days of protection with daily use.

This one comes in 5 different shades with just a hint of tint and there are matte and shimmer versions.

Fall Product Standouts – Skin Care

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Quite a few skin care products have come out and here are three I am giving my stamp of approval.

COLORESCIENCE PRO Illuminating Cleanser Mineral Powder Formula ($37.50/1.4oz @ dermstore.com) – this powder looks like diamond dust and is great at not only cleansing and exfoliating the skin with Salicylic Acid but it also removes makeup. No tightness of the skin after using this one. Big recommendation.

BURT’S BEES Sensitive Night Cream ($15/1.8oz @ ulta.com) – part of the new Sensitive line they just put out, which includes a Cleanser, Moisturizing Cream and Eye Cream. These contain Cotton Extract to help minimize the effects of potential irritants, as well as aloe. So your skin is getting what it needs but gently.

PREVAGE Day Intensive Anti-aging Moisturizing Cream SPF 30 ($129/1.7oz) – Liz Arden’s Prevage brand has received rave reviews and they just came out with two new products. This day cream not only guards against UVA/UVB rays, but it also contains the powerful ingredient Idebenone to protect the skin from daily environmental assaults. The other new one is their Night Anti-aging Restorative Cream ($132/1.7oz). Get them both @ macys.com.

Bobbi Brown & Colorescience Pro Are Your Answers for Sun Protection

Colorescience-Pro-Sunforgettable-Bobbi-Brown-Oil-Control-Lotion Powder, lotion, cream, spray – sunscreens come in all forms now and sun protection is an added bonus in a lot of products now-a-days. Here’s two that I’m loving right now.

BOBBI BROWN Oil Control Lotion SPF 15 ($45/1.7oz @ neimanmarcus.com) – keep that oil slick off your face during the day with this oil controlling one.

COLORSCIENCE PRO new Sunforgetable Eyescreen SPF 30 ($20/.14oz @ skin-one.com) - the skin around the eyes can be sensitive and it needs protecting. This one not only protects but is also water resistant.
