Light & Simple with the Latest from Clean Perfume

Clean-Air-&-Coconut-Eater-and-Rain-&-Pear-fragrances
There’s nothing like the power of fragrance to take you away and boost your mood. I think we can all use a little dash right now. I’m getting my fix from the latest from the CLEAN brand.

They came out with two new ones a few months ago: Rain & Pear (fresh with notes freesia, of dewy pear, melon, violet and muguet, among others) and Air & Coconut Water (fresh with a little more floral than the aforementioned with notes of bergamot, lemon, coconut nat neo, freesia, rose, clean air musk, among others).

Both are light and airy and nice for the current season but I’m leaning more towards the Air & Coconut Water.

Something I’ve always been interested in is layering different scents, or what Clean calls it, fragrance pairing. And they show you how to pair theirs!

You should know that the above two are eau de fraiche. What does that mean exactly? See the bullet points below!

  • eau de parfum -- 15 to 22 percent essential oils
  • eau de toilette -- 8 to 15 percent
  • cologne or eau de cologne -- 4 percent
  • eau fraiche -- the most diluted version of scent with just 1 to 3 percent.

So if you like your scent to be just a wisp of scent and not overpowering, these could be just for you.

4 Favorite Spring Scents

My nose seems to come out of hibernation this time of year when the seasons change and everything just smells so much richer right now. Here are some of my favorites I can’t get enough of! What are some of your favorites?

4-Favorite-Spring-Scents

CLEAN Blossom Eau de Parfum ($40/1oz, $72/2.14oz @ ulta.comcleanperfume.com) – released early this year, this one seems to fit perfectly right now. This floral contains notes of neroli, lilac, orange blossom, lily and musk and sandalwood. Super feminine and a little heavier than a traditional floral.

FRESH Rose Deep Hydration Cream ($40/1oz @ freshbeauty.com and sephora.com) – made for normal to dry skin, I almost like applying some of this each night just to smell the roses! This cream will increase the skin’s hydration by including hyaluronic acids in it as well as rosewater and vitamin E to nourish.

SALVATORE FERRAGAMO Emozione Dolce Fiore Eau de Toilette ($79/1.7oz, $99/3.1oz @ macys.com) – this floral releases top notes of bergamot, grapefruit and white peach, heart notes of rose buds and peony and a base of white musk, vanilla and suede. Really unique and calming.

ST. IVES Nourished & Smooth Oatmeal Body Scrub ($5.99/9oz @ target.com) – this gentle body scrub uses walnut shell powder to slough off the rough winter skin to reveal a softer side.

Clean Gets a Tad Heavy with their Latest Scent

I kinda figured that once I smelled one or two CLEAN fragrances I’ve smelled them all but their new Air Eau de Parfum ($38/1oz, $69/2.14oz @ qvc.com) is changing my mind.

It’s described at a woody floral aldehydic* so it’s a heavier than their tranditional scents, yet clean with floral notes. And what a fitting scent for the season transition we are going into with spring right around the corner!

  • Top notes: Mountain Air Accord, Bergamot Blossoms, Lush Green Accord
  • Middle notes: Sparkling Freesia, Powdered Aldehydes, Dewy Peony
  • Base notes: Enveloping Musk, Cashmere Woods, White Amber

*aldehydic means luminous sparkling top notes that give the fragrance it’s body or opening fizz. Some of the Chanel frags are known for this as is one from JHAG.

CLEAN Grows Up with Skin

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Clean-Skin-perfumeI love that the CLEAN fragrance line is getting a little more sophisticated in its scents. I mean, how many times can you do clean? Their latest is an eau de parfum is called Skin and overall it’s much headier than I’m used to from this line and that’s a good thing. As I inhale the scent right now from my skin, it smells like a wet, dewy, juicy flower. The notes include sheer honeydew, lotus blossom, fresh air accord, dewy petals, aquatic notes, blue rose, white musk, amber wood and creamy vanilla. This just might be my most favorite from the line yet. $69/2.14oz @ kohls.com.

Clean Perfume Poofs It Old School

Clean-Original-Body-Veil I’m a sucker for two things in beauty, the poofs attached to the perfume bottles and the poof that used to come with body powders. Thankfully CLEAN PERFUME is bringing it back into vogue with their Moisture Absorbent Fresh Body Veil ($28/4oz @ sephora.com). This talc-free powder contains their original scent and is somehow time-release! So when I first smelled the powder, it did not jump back at me with the notes, instead a light fresh scent just lingered on my skin after I poofed it on. Thankfully there are still some warmer days ahead this month so I can really test the moisture absorbency of this one.

What Season Is It Anyway?

ApothiaIt seems like any on-going cable drama is good. I was hooked on the first two seasons of The L Word but blah, fell off in the third season. So I was very intrigued by APOTHIA’s L Eau de Parfum ($75/1.7oz and $30/deluxe sample @ barneys.com) when this came out early last year. What in the world could this scent be about?? It was created by input from 7,500 fans and what they think would best represent. The result? A light sensuous fragrance with notes of angelica, violet leaf, vetiver and sandalwood, among others.Cleanlather I expected a very watered down, trendy scent but surprisingly enough, it wasn’t.

The CLEAN line has pretty much revolutionized the fragrance industry with their fresh scents. I don’t know the last time a fragrance line has consistently put out several no nonsense fragrances that have sold so well. The latest is Lather Eau de Parfum ($76/2.14oz @ qvc.com) and it’s just what you would expect from this line – clean and shower fresh with notes of citrus, florals and a touch of musk and wood.
And the best trait about both of these? They are great to wear no matter what season.

The Look ... The Feel ... The Smell ... of Cotton

What fabric do we love next to our bodies in the hot sticky summer? Breathable cotton, of course. I’ve found Cleancotton2_2 two products that bring that freshly driedFarm_2 linen smell of cotton right to your nose.

CLEAN PERFUME Warm Cotton Eau de Parfum ($76/2.14oz @ sephora.com) captures  the fresh feeling of a fluffy, warm towel just pulled from the dryer or slipping into soft clean sheets at night. Notes of citrus, lilac and jasmine over a blend of amber and musk make this fragrance so uniquely say summer.

I love using an absorbing powder in the summer and here comes High Cotton Body Dust ($22.50/3.5oz @ farmaesthetics.com) from FARMAESTHETICS, organically made with love from Texas’ Brenda Brock. Good for you natural and herbal ingredients make this perfect for cooling off after a shower on a hot summer day. I even sprinkle some on my bed sheets for an absolutely dry, fresh smell of cotton, which is mixed with lavender and white thyme flowers. The ingredients work together to absorb moisture without drying out your skin. Live it up in cotton this summer! ~Lisa
