Who doesn’t love a nice spritz on the face when it’s hot out? How about if it adds some benefits like priming and setting makeup? That’s what you get with CIATE’s new Dewy Spritz ($25/4.22oz @ ciatelondon.com, sephora.com). I’ve always been a big fan of sprays when the temps go out and I like to keep them in the frig to so they’re cool going on.
I think I’ve been around the liquid lipstick block a few times now and with the latest ones I’ve tried being on the indie side, I have some more observations. It seems that just about every brand is coming out with their own version these days, which is great, but not so great when you kinda know what formula works for you, and you don’t get it when you open the tube. If you’re on the liquid lipstick (will abbreviate to LL) bandwagon, do you know which form you like best? I think I do, now that I’ve tried quite a few different brands:
Chanel, Wet N Wild, Tarte, Buxom (part of BareMinerals), ColourPop, Motives, Cailyn Cosmetics, L’Oreal, Make Up For Ever, Stila, Laura Mercier, Merle Norman, NARS, Lime Crime, Ofra Cosmetics, Fyinnae, Maybelline, Ciate London, L'Oreal, Napoleon Perdis, Houglass Cosmetics, CoverGirl, LipSense by SeneGence, Giorgio Armani, Sephora, Kat Von D, MAC, Makeup Monster, LA Splash Cosmetics, Caked, Beauty Bakerie.
Brands on my list to try: The new ones from Smashbox, Anastasia Beverly Hills (I know, I know, I'm like the only one on the planet but I've read mixed reviews), Jeffree Star, Milani (drugstores are always out of the Amore Mattes!), Lonely Planet.
The CIATE LONDON line is really branching out from nail polish to other makeup categories like with these Cooling Eyeshadow Slick Eyeshadow Primers ($16 @ sephora.com). These shadow primers are different from others that I’ve tried as the formula is super thin, and almost immediately dry down after applying and don’t move.
Even though the category of liquid lipstick is still relatively new on the scene, there seems to be two different kinds that I’ve experienced - those that dry down on the lips and *BAM*, they don't move. These ones seem to be the most matte and drying but do last the longest, with some up to 12 hours. You can pretty much eat and drink anything without having to worry about your lip color coming off, unless what you're eat contains oils. And then there are those that are a tad more moisturizing than the aforementioned thus making them a tad more transferable. These seem to last about 4 to 5 hours but overall feel better on the lips.
The latter is what the latest from CIATE LONDON fall into with their Liquid Velvet Matte Lip Slicks ($19 @ sephora.com) I was surprised when I read about these as I thought the brand was just about nails and would pretty much always be about nails but it’s great to see this new direction!
These contain Hyaluronic Acid and their own blend ingredient called PlushPigment, which helps with the staying power and moisturizing feel on the lips.
