A Great Way to Clean Your Brushes

Real-Techniques-Brush-Cleaning-Palette-in-box

I wrote about some REAL TECHNIQUES makeup brushes the other day on my site but I think the real star of their line has to be their Brush Cleaning Palette ($15 @ realtechniques.com, kohls.com, target.com). It’s made of silicone, and the part that holds the soap and water kind of looks like of like a soap dish in that the edges are raised up. On the bottom is a strap you slide your hand through to hold it. Then, just add some cleanser and a little water and scrub or work that brush along the textured dots and x’s on the surface and voila, clean brushes!

And I like that I’m not wasting cleanser like I normally do when just using my hands as the surface to work the product out of the bristles. The cup shape keeps it all in one place as you clean brushes. Highly recommended.

So did you make any beauty resolutions this year? I have a friend who proudly declared that 2017 would be the year she learned to apply false lashes! So how has she done? Well, I just checked with her before writing this post up and she hasn’t practiced that much. I’ve tried to tell her, there are all kinds of tools and tricks to help but in the end, it really just does take practice.

Take That, Chest Wrinkles!

Sio-Overnight-Decollete-Wrinkle-Smoother-Decollete-Serum-and-Decollete-Cleansing-Discs

Sio-Overnight-Decollete-Wrinkle-Smoother-back
Have you ever given a thought to how you could be damaging your skin while you sleep? I know, what next? If you’re a side sleeper, like me, or seem to forget to apply sunscreen and other anti-aging products to your décolletage, like me, you probably already have wrinkles and age spots there. It’s for sure become something I am self-conscious about it the older I’ve got.

Welcome SiO (pronounced see-oh), a three-step beauty regime to help temporarily get rid of wrinkles. I tried something like this, or actually, very much like this here a few years ago but their process also preps the skin beforehand and treats it after using the disc.

Step 1 - Decollete Cleansing Discs ($45)

Step 2 - Sio SkinPad ($99.95/2 pads)

Step 3 - Decollete Serum ($135/1oz)

Katching Up with Kleenex

Kleenex-moist-Facial-Cleansing-Wipes-and-Exfoliating-Cushions
Are you up to speed on the KLEENEX brand? I know, what’s to get up to speed on when it comes to tissues? Well, they’ve quietly expanded the line with moist Eye Makeup Removers, moist Facial Cleansing Wipes, Shine Away Sheets, Cotton Soft Pads and Exfoliating Cushions. Where have I been?

I was quite excited to try the Exfoliating Cushions and moist Facial Cleansing Wipes. Now, I don’t know about you, but I kinda get excited over beauty “tools” like these and love trying new ones out.

Let’s talk about the Exfoliating Cushions first. These 3” round discs infuse a provitamin complex into the cotton pad so while you’re exfoliating, you’re also getting good-for-skin ingredients.

Kleenex-Exfoliating-Cushion-up-close

If you look at the pad, one side is, what they call, a polishing wipe, and looks like little bumps on the cotton, and the other side has holes cut out of the white pad revealing a blue pad underneath, and is the gentle exfoliating part.

The ingredients are activated by water and all you have to do is decide which side you’re feeling, use and toss. It’s that easy. And they sell a dispenser for these for $9.99/12 Cushions and Refillable Dispenser and then $4.99 for Refill Packs @ kleenexfacialcleansing.com, target.com.

The other product I tried from the brand was the moist Facial Cleansing Wipes. Now I’ve all tried a lot of wipes at this point and I mean a L-O-T of them! What I liked about these is not only how my skin felt after using one of the textured wipes (very soft, not stripped dry), but also how the wipe itself told me it was, well, used up. Not only by the dirt or makeup that showed up but that the wipe itself short of shriveled up a little and didn’t look so new. I sometimes feel like I have to keep using a wipe on other parts of my body or the table in front of me just to feel like I got the most out of it. Do you ever feel like that?

These wipes also contain a provitamin complex, as well as aloe and vitamin E, and is delivered in a water-based formula so there is no residue left on my skin.

Pick these up for $9.99 for 25 Wipes and Refillable Dispenser and $4.99 for a Refill Pack @ kleenexfacialcleansing.com, target.com.

All I Want for Christmas!

Are you ready to start Christmas shopping? Check out these 5 Awesome Holiday finds from Cybele Says.

It seems like the holiday season arrives earlier and earlier each year, dontcha think? Or do I just say that each year? Since we are all so inundated, I don’t begin my holiday gift coverage until the day after Thanksgiving but I have been known to run an early post here and there, so consider this one of those posts.

So how did I pick these? I really looked at each selection as a, “would I love to receive this as a gift?” So below are ones that I so approve for anyone on your list.

1. BUXOM Stone Cold Babe Set ($42 @ sephora.com) – I’ve always said that if you are looking to buy yourself some new makeup, the holidays are some of the best times to do it and you can really score some serious deals like this set from Buxom. This set contains their limited edition Fire & Frost Eyeshadow Palette with 12 gorgeous shades and a Mini Buxom Lash Mascara.

2. ARTIS Palm Brush ($65 @ artisbrush.com, dillards.com, spacenk.com) – really any brush from the Artis line would be considered a gourmet gift to me. The latest release is this brush that can be used to apply lotion, self-tanner, face cream, really anything that needs max coverage. It was designed to fit comfortably in your hand and feels so luxe on the skin, like you’d expect only from Artis.

3. PIXI BEAUTY Rose Oil Blend ($24/1oz @ pixibeauty.com, target.com) – anything with roses is always an acceptable gift and this one is just so good for the skin. It contains almond, jojoba, rosehips, rose geranium, orange peel and pomegranate seed oils, among others. Use this as an additive to your existing moisturizer.

4. J.O.I. Spotlite HD ($59.95) Spotlite HD Professional ($89.95) – what you use to put on your makeup is just as important as the makeup you use. Believe me, I know. I grew up with one of those 3-tiered poorly lighted  mirrors that probably did more harm than good! This J.O.I. portable mirror I wrote about a few months ago will make sure you to always have the right lighting at the tip of your fingers. Both @ wearejoi.com

5. MAC Nutcracker Sweet Red Mini Lipstick Kit ($35 @ maccosmetics.com, dillards.com, nordstrom.com) – no makeup brand does holidays better than MAC! And every recipient on your list is sure to open this cute box with 4 lippies in it and say, “ohhhh!”. Guaranteed winning set here.

Until recently, I didn’t even think there was another option to keeping this paper towel on my makeup table to wipe off my mascara wand or any other makeup tips or items when they were messy.

The Makeup Show Haul

I attended The Makeup Show in Los Angeles a few weeks ago and picked up some products I’m uber excited to try out! Some I had not seen before and some I had on my list to pick up.

Since it’s tax season, I had to really be watchful on my dollars this time around and thankfully the show had a blogger preview so some of the products that were on my list were in the bag the show gave us. Yeah!! I've just started trying some of them out so do you see anything you like?

The-Makeup-Show-Haul

1. ESUM Pro Finishing Sponges ($20/2 sponges @ musebeauty.com) – here’s a new twist on the makeup sponge – these combines the wedge and oval sponge in one so you can get every inch you’re trying to get to.

2. BÉSAME COSMETICS Boudoir Short Hair Contour Brush ($48 @ sephora.com) – this one is in the same category as those oval brushes that are blowing up everywhere. It feels so nice on the skin and is able to get into all the angles on the face … flawlessly!

3. SENNA COSMETICS Lash Detail Mascara ($20 @ sennacosmetics.com) – I’m really picky about my mascara and don’t like many. I’ve worn this one twice and what I like about it is the super skinny fine brush that seems to be able to maneuver color on ever lash. If you’re looking for natural looking lashes, this might be one to try.

4. NYX COSMETICS Soft Matte Lip Crème in Transylvania ($5.99 @ bedbathandbeyond.com) – I’ve been needing this shade in my life since it came out and has been sold out at my Ulta since it came out.

5. SEPHORA PRO Press Full Coverage Complexion Brush #66 ($36 @ sephora.com) – this seems to be Sephora’s answer to the oval brush craze and I can’t wait to see how it performs!

6. SMASHBOX Photo Finish Primer Water ($32/3.9oz @ smashbox.com and sephora.com) – there’s been quite a buzz on this primer water since it emerged recently. Can’t wait to try this out!

7. VERA MONA Color Switch Duo ($19.99 @ veramona.com) – a genius product! Stroke your brush against the black to remove the color so it’s ready to dip into the next shade. And the white middle part can be soaked in water if you feel like applying shadow with a wet brush.

8. KAT VON D Tattoo Liner in Trooper ($19 @ sephora.com) – from the queen of liner. Need I say more?

9. PUR Browder Perfecting Brow Powder in Medium Brown ($22 @ kohls.com) – this combines a powder with fibers to help fill in sparse areas. Interesting application pointer!

10. MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Sculpting Lip 2-in-1 Lip Sculpting Pen in #40 Carmine Red ($27 @ sephora.com) – quite a unique twist on giving lips a multi-dimensional look. Can’t wait to try this out!

Make this a Beauty Staple in 2016!

Is there one place in the drugstore that you always visit to see what’s new? For me it’s the nail and lash section. And I noticed some new ones in the KISS section of lashes this past trip. I love that the brand is always putting out products to help make applying lashes easier and their release of So Simple Lash ($4.50) is supposed to do just that. Now I have practiced and practiced applying lashes so I pretty much have my technique down but I know it is hard to do the first … 20, 30, 50 or so times.

This pair comes with a built-in, what they call, LashLock, which grips the front of the lash from side-to-side so that when the glue you apply is tacky, the lash is angled with this mechanism and ready to apply.

So did the lash applicator help? Click after the picture to find out!
