I’ve actually been to Bali so when this brand, BALI BODY contact me to see if I wanted to try a few of their products, I automatically said yes! So what does this brand have to do with the Island of Bali? Well, not much. Like the hosiery brand, Bali, a name is just a name.

Bali Body is created in Melbourne, Australia and I know the island holds a sweet spot to a lot of Aussies since it’s a close vacation spot. So I’m guessing that’s the tie-in.

Looking at their product line, they make tanning oils, moisturizing lotions, and a few different types of self-tanners. I opted to try the Self-Tanning Mousse (6.7oz), Luxe Moisturising Lotion (5oz), and Face Tan Water (3.4oz), which makes up the Self Tan Heroes set they have ($75.95 @ balibody.com).

Overall, I love giving my bod some color but no so much my face. I have my foundation and concealer shades all set and don’t want to mess with trying to find my new match.

So for me, I was all in on the tanning mousse and lotion!

The fine folks at Bali Body also threw in one of their Luxe Tanning Mitts, much to my delight as I always use them. I’ve used some pretty crappy ones before and I liked everything about this one - no seem in the cloth that can scratch the skin while applying product, soft material, and reusable. The one trait I did not like is that the lining inside didn’t 100% protect my hands from getting stained. Sad face. That con is a big one for me as I hate scrubbing my hands afterwards. Getting the tanner out from around the nailbeds can be a total pain, so I’d give the glove a B.

Ok, onto the products.

Besides the color it leaves behind, the other big make-it-or-break-it for me is if there is a scent while the color is developing. I’ve scrubbed a tanner off myself if the scent has been too strong. This one didn’t make me want to do that but the scent was for sure there. On the scale of having-to-deal-with-it, I’d give this a B.

As far as the color goes, I really liked it! And this one is adjustable. For a light tan, wash off after 1 hour. For a medium to dark tan, leave on for up to 4 hours, and for the deepest color, leave it on for 8 hours before taking your next shower.

As far as ingredients, the formula contains some antioxidants like coffee seed and pomegranate extracts to nourish the skin as it penetrates.

The color lasted about 5 days on my skin and I’m sure it could last longer, depending on how often you shower, moisturize etc.

Speaking of, after applying the mousse, I used their Luxe Moisturising Lotion on areas that tend to get rough and might not let the tan look right like knees and elbows. They put aloe vera, shea butter and camellia oil inside, yum! They say it smells faintly of grapefruit but I didn’t think that at all. To me, it does smell citrus-y but not like a specific fruit. I can't put my finger on it!

What part of the year to you find yourself applying self-tanner the most?
