SKIN RESEARCH LABORATORIES Complexion Kit

I never ever thought it would happen but I kind of with the masses right now – I’m more interested in skin care right now. I never thought it would happen and that I’d be somewhat bored with makeup. Don’t get me wrong, I still love trying out new liquid lipsticks but otherwise, I’m bored with it. Not sure how long it will last but it is a woman’s prerogative to change her mind!

So with that said, let’s talk about some skin care --

I was recently sent SKIN RESEARCH LABORATORIES Complexion Kit ($120 @ skinresearchlabs.com) to try out and wanted to share my thoughts with you on it.

This kit contains neuREFLECTION Complexion Perfecting Polish and two masks - neuINFUSION Contouring DRY Face Mask and neuINFUSION Contouring DRY Neck Mask. Mask are all the rage these days and I see so many of them when I visit ULTA and Sephora. I like that not only are they full of concentrated ingredients to help boost what ails skin but it’s also a nice me-time treat.

Anytime I come across an exfoliator, I have to look up every ingredient to make sure it doesn’t contain  ocean pollutants. We all have to do that until the law goes into effect.

The only ingredient inside this neuREFLECTION Complexion Perfecting Pollish that I can see that does the exfoliation is sucrose aka table sugar. It’s towards the end of the list. And after it is Shea Butter, which is nice. At the beginning of the list (3rd ingredient) is kaolin aka clay. Towards the end of the list is charcoal powder. Maybe that does some exfoliating?

The first ingredient listed in this product is Butylene Glycol, which is an ingredient derived from petroleum and is used mainly as a preservative. This one also contains sodium bicarb, which is baking soda, kaolin (clay), magnesium oxide (a pH adjuster), glycerin, hydrogenated vegetable oil, dimethicone PEG-8 (a conditioning agent).

Overall I like the way this scrub feels on my skin. It’s very concentrated so I really feel like I’m exfoliating every millimeter of my skin when using it. The jar is only 1.23oz, a little goes a long way.

The two masks included in this kit are reusable up to 6 times. Woohoo! I grown to dislike single-use products so this is a welcome trait and hopefully more brands will encorporate this practice in their sheet masks.

To activate the ingredients inside the neuINFUSION Contouring DRY Face Mask and the Contouring DRY Neck Mask, simply apply the mask, printed side inward, on a freshly-washed and dry face. Then, massage all around the skin a few times over the mask to activate the ingredients and release them.

Looking at the ingredients in these masks, the first few are stearic acid (an emollient and emulsifier), shea butter, soybean oil and sorbitan oleate (emulsifier).

Love that they hydrate with shea butter and I especially liked using the neck mask as I don’t think there are many on the market and there is a need!

For best results, they recommend using these masks in the evening for 2 consecutive days, every 10 days.
