URBAN DECAY
just came out with a new makeup palette. So do you need it? While they are all new shades to the brand, I’m sure there are quite a few dupes inside. Let’s take a closer look.

Naked Honey Eyeshadow Palette ($49 @ urbandecay.com, sephora.com, ulta.com) - Raw and sticky sweet—just the way nature intended. Get hooked on the Naked Honey Eyeshadow Palette, with 12 all-new, golden neutrals that feature classic golds, warm ambers, and rich chocolate browns. High-pigment matte, shimmery, and metallic shades are perfect for creating a swarm of looks, from bright and sunny to dangerously seductive after dark.

  • Flyby – ivory satin
  • Sweet – neutral beige matte
  • Swarm – soft mustard matte
  • Amber – metallic copper shimmer
  • Keeper – mustard brown matte
  • Golden – rich gold shimmer
  • Queen – golden brown shimmer
  • Hive – warm brown matte
  • Drip – warm reddish-brown matte
  • HBIC – rosy bronze shimmer
  • Sting – deep warm brown matte

At first open, the fact that they are all warm shades is a huge plus for me! While I’m always looking for those neutral basic shadows I wear so much of (it’s the one thing I keep buying over and over, besides this one dark pink shade of lipstick) and this palette offers four nice ones I’m sure I’ll use quite a bit.

Sting is a nice crease shade and Flyby will be good in the corner of the eyes as well as a dot under the brow. Seven of the shades are matte. So far, so good.

As for the shimmers, I just don’t use them as much unless I’m going out for a night on the town. The standouts for me are Amber and HBIC, for sure, as I tend to gravitate towards coppery/reddish colors when I use any metallic or shimmers.

The big question is – do you need this? The overall formulas for Urban Decay shadows is always pretty great, so on that tip alone, I would pick this up if you don’t own any of theirs. When it comes to this palette specifically, I think it has some really good job of including light to darker matte shades as I think most of us use those the most in a look. The shimmer/metallic colors are pretty basic and I wish there were some more duo chrome options. I’m a sucker for those! Like I don’t think I will wear the straight gold shade of Honey much, but if it had some shift to it, I would probably reach for it.

I’d give this palette an A- if you don’t own a basic warm palette and a B- if you do already own something similar. Do you think you will buy this?
