Paula's Choice DEFENSE Collection
I’ve been thinking a lot about skin care lately as my skin seems to be on a good plateau right now, which is great. My regimen the past year is working and keeping it all in balance. My hormonal acne around my jawline has stopped, and my skin doesn’t seem overly dry. It’s funny because I love any kind of special treatments and skin care gadgets, so I’ve been thinking I might want to incorporate a new one into my routine. Then, I look in the mirror and think, “why mess with what I have going on?”
I recently spoke with the owner of Doll Face Skincare Studios, Lila Castellanos, about what we should all be doing when it comes to skin care and she said, “The two most important parts of any daily skincare routine are skin cleansing and exfoliation, both of which are vital to proper skin care. The first step is removing makeup with remover or an oil-based cream. Follow with a cleanser that is well-suited for your skin type.
Exfoliation involves rubbing the skin with an exfoliator or scrub in order to get rid of dry and dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. It’s considered one of the most important aspects of any skincare routine because it helps prevent many skin problems while increasing blood circulation, equating to healthy and glowing skin.” Woo-hoo! I’m on the right track then. I usually use a chemical exfoliator in the shower a few times a week and of course I fully wash my face at the end of each day, so good to know that I’m doing the right things.
When it comes to my daily skin care routine and what products to use on it, global warming has made me think about how it may be affecting my skin. Smog, car exhaust and just everyday pollution, can affect how we age.
And there’s a collection of skin care from PAULA’S CHOICE SKINCARE to help defend against it. It’s her Defense Collection and the four products contain antioxidants, ceramides and superfoods, which help to neutralize those pollutants to help your skin live its best life!
- DEFENSE Hydrating Gel-to-Cream Cleanser ($18/6.7oz) – a little goes a lot way in this case! They say this can also remove makeup but it didn’t really do much for a full eye look of makeup, so I’d recommend a separate one.
- DEFENSE Antioxidant Pore Purifier ($31/1oz) – use this one in the AM and PM. It contains salicylic acid and a special blend of antioxidants to help brighten the skin, which includes those pesky sunspots (I have two).
- DEFENSE Essential Glow Moisturizer SPF 30 ($29/2oz) – I’m so glad that I’m in the habit of never leaving the house without sunscreen on. And this one packs 12 antioxidants inside and blends in quickly without leaving any greasy residue.
- DEFENSE Nightly Reconditioning Moisturizer ($29/2oz) – Like the above, this one sinks in quickly without leaving my skin and hands feeling greasy. Love that! In addition to the superfoods this one has inside to help combat aging, it also protects from the HEV/blue light emitted from our cel phones. I think more brands will be jumping on this wagon shortly since we are all pretty much glued to our phones these days.
Each is available on its own but I also love that you can get all four products in a set for only $64.20 @ paulaschoice.com. Now that’s the right price!
