NYFW may sound like it brings a lot of glamour (it does) and totally unwearable hair styles (some are, some are not) to the catwalk but you’d be surprised at how many are totally doable. So about 1 week after the shows are done, I look up some of the styles that were shown. Not only for the clothes but for the hair and makeup that goes with each outfit.

And this season, in partnership with TRESemmé, I’m creating one of the looks that inspired me and using TRESemmé products to do it. Don’t have to twist my arm!

Like makeup, a good base to your hair is important in order to be able to get the best style out of it, so I started with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Marula Oil Shampoo & Conditioner. The newly revamped twosome is now safe for color-treatment strands and is specially designed to fight frizz, detangle knots, boost shine and tame flyaways, all of which are problem now that temps are dropping! These help smooth out my hair, especially if I’m going for a sleek look. And I pick up all these products around the corner at my local CVS

Also used in this look is TRESemmé Dry Shampoo. It helps tame oily hair and give some grip when creating hair styles. And the formula is infused is vitamin B12 and keratin to strengthen.

And lastly, a staple in my routine is TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist, Level 2 Hair Spray. It has rivaled my favorite since I discovered it as it gives my hair superior hold while looking so natural that I can run my fingers through it without getting all caught up in my hair. Now that’s impressive!

Now, onto the style. I was most inspired by the “It’s Not Easy to Look this Effortless” Hair from Rebecca Minkoff in the Spring 2018 show. Its part boho, part street cool, and all the way, I-woke-up-like-this. #RunwayReadyTRESemmé.

I start by washing my hair with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Marula Oil Shampoo & Conditioner. Love the smell of these two!

Next I hit my hair with a blow dryer and round brush after my strands are about 75% dry. Parting the hair down the middle, I’m blow drying my hair straight all over with no curl under with the end.

Sectioning my hair into 3 (each side and the back), I use my conical iron (can also use a curling iron) and taking 1” sections, curl vertically, alternating wrapping the hair forward around the wand and wrapping the hair backwards on the wand. And I don’t wrap the ends.

Next after all the sides are cooled down, I run my fingers through all sections to break up the curls and lift up sections to spray TRESemmé Dry Shampoo to give the curls some grip and texture. I also give a blast to the roots to give some height. Since the hair is so clean, my hair can sometimes not hold these waves long but this one helps it last.

Just before I leave the house I give each section of my hair the once over with TRESemmé Compressed Micro Mist, Level 2 Hair Spray. This one helps keep the style in place and keeps frizzies away, which can happen with this style if you aren’t careful! I like to also wear this as second-day hair but the frizzies can be brutal so glad I have this Micro Mist to help out.

So what do you think of the final look? I think I’m channeling Suzi Quatro quite a bit.
