I just love the blotted lip-look but try as I may, it’s not always easily obtainable. The BUXOM brand is trying to make it easier with their PillowPout Creamy Plumping Lip Powder ($22 @ buxomcosmetics.com, ulta.com, sephora.com).

What It Is: A unique lip powder that delivers a blotted, semi-matte finish for all-day, comfortable wear.

 

My Take: What an interesting lip product this one is! The color is stored in the cap and it looks like a creamy powder sitting on the sponge tip. It applies relatively smoothly and you can see the powderyness of the formula only at this point as it truly melts into lips and feels like a lipstick on lips.

What they are striving for is the aforementioned blotted-lip look. So does this achieve that? Yes and no. If you use one of the darker colors, you can tap the sponge lightly on lips, but you better take that picture quick because it doesn’t last long on lips. I only got an average of 2 hours of wear with most of shades I tried before they started to fade and while I did feel a slight minty feeling upon application, it faded quick and my lips didn’t look any plumper. Would I recommend any of these? I think the darker shades like Seduce Me and Want You are really nice if you are looking to achieve that blotted look, otherwise, I think I’d skip these.
