The word superfood is everywhere these days, in the obvious place, foods, but it’s also cropped up in skin care like in these two from the LATHER brand. Now I expect a lot out of my skin care products that I use. Multi-tasking is the name of the game!

I’ve been using their Caviar Lime AHA Cleansing Crème ($21/4oz @ lather.com) and the Australian Plum Night Crème ($43/1.8oz @ lather.com) for the past 6 weeks and I think the brand is onto something with these two.

Here’s the breakdown:

Caviar Lime AHA Cleansing Crème – What it is –

Reveal a smoother, brighter and more even-looking complexion with this luxurious and creamy foaming cleanser infused with Caviar Lime, a small yet powerful citrus fruit from Australia. Also known as Finger Lime or Microcitrus Australasica, Caviar Lime is especially rich in precious alpha hydroxy acids that gently exfoliate the skin’s surface to reveal more supple and radiant skin. The fruit also contains brightening, skin-protecting antioxidant Vitamin C.

With the addition of water, the thick cream transforms into a velvety soft mousse to sweep away dirt, excess oil and makeup. The formulation is enriched with nourishing botanicals that include meadowfoam seed oil, an excellent source of Vitamin E, and sodium hyaluronate (from hyaluronic acid) to keep skin’s moisture in balance.

My take – As we get older, cell renewal on the skin slows down, so anything that will help is welcome in my routine! As the description says, this one contains a very powerful AHA, so my face feels clean, not tight. I wouldn’t recommend using this as an eye makeup remover as the ingredients will irritate eyes.

Australian Plum Night Crème – What it is – Considered a superfruit, Kakadu plum is identified as the world’s richest fruit source of Vitamin C, and also contains potent polyphenols, gallic and ellagic acids. These antioxidants help protect skin from oxidative stress (from pollution, UV and free radicals), that can lead to wrinkles and dull-looking skin. They support healthy collagen, helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging. 

The advanced formula is enriched with a 3 Amino Acid Peptide that promotes firmer, fuller and denser-looking skin. Ribose, a sugar molecule that provides energy in living cells, helps to recharge and fortify tired-looking skin and promote more a supple and smooth texture. 

My take: this cream is really rich and thick so a little goes a long way. I’m not sure if it’s one of these products or both that seems to have helped even out my skin’s tone, especially along the cheeks. Big recommendation!
