A New Line of Brushes from Cult Fave, Artis!

Cybele Says shares a review of the Brushcraft line of brushes from popular makeup brush brand Artis.
Have you heard of the new BRUSHCRAFT line that came out last month? It was put out by Artis brush brand, which I’m sure you’ve seen by now as they are seen everywhere, and I was surprised by the release. I mean, they have a solid line already with quite a few different designs so I’m kind of thinking of each like this: Artis is the Varsity team and BrushCraft is the Junior Varsity team. Things that make you go hmmm... But in the name of beauty, I bought all 4 up to try out.

So let's break them down - the shapes of the handles are more curved than the Artis brushes and the BrushCraft ones are only available in black.

Here are the brushes:

  • Oval 6 ($24.50) – great for applying blush, foundation and contouring.
  • Oval 3 ($18.50) – applying eye shadow on the lid, concealer.
  • Linear 1 ($18.50) – made for lining eyes, brows.
  • Circle 1R ($18.50) – applying eye shadow or blending out shadow, applying concealer, lip color.

The bristles of these are made of a synthetic fiber they call NuFibre instead of animal hair and this fiber is able to retain its shape. Artis brushes use CosmeFibre, also a synthetic material, is very similar to NuFibre.

So how do these differ from the Artis brushes besides the bristle fibers and angled handles? From what I have gathered, they wanted to create a line that was accessible (affordable) to every makeup wearer.

So with the above info, would I say these BrushCraft brushes seem/feel any lesser than the Artis brushes? They don’t feel that different on the skin but then again I am comparing the large Oval 6 BrushCraft with the new Palm Brush and the Elite Oval 7. So while I don’t feel that I’m comparing apples to oranges, it's more like I’m comparing a granny smith apple to a delicious apple. And these seem to blend in the shadow/bronzer/blush etc nicely so I wouldn't say they cut any corners when it comes to how these perform versus the regular Artis brushes but they must given the price. I’ll try and do a head-to-head comparison in an upcoming post when I’m able to purchase some of the smaller Artis brushes as they are on my bucket list, along with about 60 other products!

One trait I am glad they changed with these are the handles. They seem sturdier than my Elite Oval 7 as I’ve always felt like I might snap the handle off!

Right now, there are only 4 BrushCraft brushes available and I’m not sure if they are going to expand the collection but really, how can you beat the price of these if you just are curious to try this kind of brush out?

The only thing I don’t quite get when it comes to these brushes are the acrylic case each comes in. Since I’m a crafter, I’ll be able to find something to do with the boxes, if I don't use them for storage on my dressing table, but I think they are kind of excessive given the purpose of this collection. Otherwise, these are pretty great brushes and a nice release! Will you be picking any of these up? How about for a Christmas gift?
