Tarte's New Totally Matte Lip Paints Are Here!
Well here we are, another day, another liquid lipstick! And this is another version of the product but a little different. It’s from TARTE and it’s the Tartiest Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint ($20 @ dermstore.com). I reviewed the first round of them here so how are these different from the others? One difference is that these have a full dry down.

Like these, these are rich with pigments but the formula is thinner and like I said before, these dry all the way down. While I have tried many liquid lipsticks with a full dry down, the quality of these falls in the middle of them. They don’t wear badly but they are not the best I’ve ever tried.
What makes a good one? Check out my post here but in a nutshell, comfort is probably the most important factor – no cracking or flaking off and it's also important that the finish doesn’t look like a desert on lips. I've experienced a lot of those and they are so uncomfortable to wear!
Another detail they paid attention to is the wand. It looks like a ballet dancer's foot on point so it hugs the lips nicely while applying the color. I've been asked a few times about wearing lip liners with a liquid lipstick and I don't and don't recommend them and here's why. The formulas of liners are very different from a liquid lip product and sometimes can be waxy thus affecting the wear of anything that comes in contact with it. I know that precision is so important especially when dealing with the super dark shades and sometimes the end point of the wand is just too wide but for now, it's the only option when it comes to lining the lips, I feel. Maybe someone will read this that can develop a liner made just for wearing with liquid lipsticks!
And like most liquid lipsticks, the lighter shades seem to perform better than the darker ones when it comes to the above traits and the peachy nude one in this collection called Homeslice is my favorite one of the bunch for sure. If I had to give these an overall grade, I’ve give them a B+, as they wear pretty evenly and last quite a few hours.
