A New Breed of Liquid Lipsticks in Town
By now, most of you have tried liquid lipsticks and know what you like with them and what you don’t. For me, I just like that the color lasts on lips and not on everything else. Yes, some are more transferable than others but these next two really threw me for a loop as I thought I’d seen it all when it came to liquid lipsticks and what to expect.
The new breed has the thin formula, the high pigment and the slight stain left behind on lips but there really is no dry down to be had. And this is something I’ve come to expect from something with these.
Like when I tried the BUXOM Wildly Whipped Lightweight Liquid Lipstick ($21 @ sephora.com) and there was no dry-down, I thought, pass, and I whole-heartedly did until I stumble upon the NARS Lip Cover ($28 @ narscosmetics.com and saks.com). Then I thought ok there is something here with these and if more than one brand is doing it. There must be some interest somewhere for them. I mean, these are two major brands.
So if you love everything about a liquid lipstick without the, um, I guess, major commitment of the longevity, these might be for you.
The NARS ones are part of the Summer 2016 Color Collection and shown here in Get Dirty(pinky nude) and Do Not Disturb (orange red). And each formula contains passion fruit seed oil and vitamin E.
And the BUXOM ones are more of a whipped formula, as the name states, and comes in 12 different shades. Shown here in Dominatrix (red), Centerfold (nude), and Devious Dolly (mauve).
