A Star Makeup Remover from the Drugstore

Every once in a while a drugstore product comes along that blows my socks and this one falls into that category. It’s GARNIER SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water All-in-1 Cleanser & Makeup Remover ($8.99/12.5oz @ cvs.com, CVS stores nationwide and walgreens.comamazon.com).

Now I’m always on the lookout for an easy-breezy makeup remover and I have my staples that seem to work on every type of makeup, including matte lipsticks.

GARNIER-SkinActive-Micellar-Cleansing-Water-All-in-1-Cleanser-&-Makeup-Remover

What It Is: This all-in-1 cleanser is surprisingly powerful yet gentle to skin. It effectively removes makeup, cleanses skin and refreshes. A multi-purpose cleanser that contains micellar technology. Like a magnet, micelles capture and lift away dirt, oil and makeup without harsh rubbing, leaving skin perfectly clean, hydrated and refreshed without over-drying.

My Take: I’d have to say that all of the above is true! This no oil, alcohol or fragrance harnesses the power of micelle technology to sweep makeup and everyday dirt away from skin and oh, so gently! I admit I was not familiar with micelle water before so this is a nice intro.

To use this remover, just saturate a cotton pad/ball, hold it over your eye/lips for about 5 to 8 seconds and then wipe. Proof is in the … cotton pad!

And the price of this one is probably one of the best I’ve ever seen. There’s also a waterproof version available so this will be an easy one to stock up on. Big recommendation.

Get the Sweet Smell of Honey from L'Occitane's Latest!

If you are an avid reader of my site then you know I’m a huge fan of honey when it comes to skin care products. The L’OCCITANE brand just put out the Shea Melting Honey Collection and yowza, let me tell you about it!

There are 5 products in the collection and in looking at the ingredient lists on each of the below products, the Shea Butter is listed as one of the first five listed, except for the balm, which is fine. Here is the breakdown:

L'Occitane-Shea-Honey-Collection

Exfoliating Sugars ($28/6.1oz) – contains 5% shea butter in a sugar mix that smells of sweet, sweet honey.

Ultra Soft Cream ($26/3.4oz) – the second ingredient listed on this one is the shea butter and this one packs 10% inside it. And the scent of honey lasts on the skin for quite a few hours. So decadent!

Soft Shower Gel ($20/8.4oz) – I’ve been loading up my shower puff with too much of this one at once but it just smells so good!

Lip Balm ($12/.4oz) – this one kept my lips moisturized for quite a few hours and it’s become a purse staple.

There's also Shea Melting Honey Whipped Hand Cream available in the line so pick them all up @ loccitane.com

Is this on your list of must-haves?

A fragrances complementing lotion or cream. I find it's usually something someone doesn't buy themselves and finding out their favorite or signature fragrance is rather easy.

It's Cold Out So Turn Up the Venta!

When it comes to cold temperatures on the east coast, I grew up worshipping the humidifier. As soon as the first frost hit, it came out of the closet and was set up in my bedroom. And to this day I still adore it. And how could I not? It keeps my breathing passages from drying out in the moisture-depleted air and I really think it helps the skin maintain during the months too.

So when I was contacted to see if I wanted to try out the VENTA Air Washer, I jumped at the chance. Not only does it add the right level of moisture to the air you’re breathing but it also cleans the air of allergens, pollution and even germs.

Take Care of Your Skin in 2016!

Make 2016 the year you take care of your skin. I know I am and here are three I’ve been using to start my year off right.

Excipial-Hand-Chemistry-Dr-Brandt
EXCIPIAL 20% Intensive Healing Cream
($15.99/3.7oz @ target.com) – This brand just hit shelves this past fall and comes from the makers of Cetaphil. This cream has been keeping the dryness away from my seemingly always dry parts like my feet, elbows and knees. I love that it’s not greasy at all.

BRANDT PoreDermabrasion Pore Perfecting Exfoliator ($58/2oz @ dermstore.com) – I’m lucky that I don’t have big pores so maybe this one isn’t quite for me but I found that it exfoliated my skin beautifully. This one uses both physical exfoliators and chemical ones in the formula.

HAND CHEMISTRY Intensive Youth Complex $20/3.3oz @ target.com) – I have high expectations when it comes to my hand creams. I mean, why shouldn’t they do double, triple or even octuple duty like our face creams? This one does! Brightness, hydration, elasticity, texture and other things the skin on your hands dreams up.
