A New Brand on the Scene - Velvet 59

Sometimes it’s hard to keep my makeup products straight. Take these VELVET 59 to the max Liquid Lipsticks ($20 @ velvet59.com), for example. I should have reviewed and swatched these a few months ago and misplaced them. But better late than never!

You may have remembered my review of their other lippies here and I was tre-excited to experience these babies!

In order to get a good feel for any liquid liquids, I like to try the red, my favorite lippie color by far, and then one of the more neutral colors because even though it’s the same product, colors can make a products performance vary from color to color.

What Did I Get at the Stila Cosmetics Warehouse Sale?

Who doesn’t love a great sample sale? Especially when the items on sale are makeup? I went to the annual STILA COSMETICS Warehouse Sale last weekend on the hunt for some more shades of their liquid lipsticks. I didn’t find any of them in the sale but I did pick up a few items I had not tried and so far, I’m pretty delighted.

Nyx Cosmetics Gets In on the Liquid Lipstick Craze!

Nyx-Cosmetics-Liquid-Suede-Cream-Lipsticks
It’s no secret that I have a great love of liquid lipsticks (for this post I will call them LL) and as I mentioned here, and I’m seeing different formulas emerge and I continue to explore this category. Of course I was super curious about the Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks from NYX COSMETICS ($7 @ ulta.com) I heard about a few months ago. They’ve been selling out everywhere (I checked Ulta 3 times) and couldn’t seem to get my hands on any until their PR people sent me 3 to try, so thank you!

As the name states, these Liquid Suedes are not straight-up LL’s. The formula is a little thicker and not as drying, more like these from Laura Mercier. So while I like each formula as each has their pluses and minuses, it comes down to how well they performed.

Meet the Luxury that is OYOBox

How many times do you forgo matching your sunglasses to your outfits? I have about 20 pairs and I keep them stored in their cases in a drawer so they don’t get scratched. So they fall under the category of outta site, outta mind and I absolutely hate that!

So I was on the hunt for some kind of nice case I could keep on my dresser to store some of them and came across the OYOBOX Luxury Eyewear Organizer. Now I can store up to 8 pairs of sunglasses inside a beautiful box and it’s made just for your sunnies.

Click after the jump to see all the pictures of this one! And don't you love the way it looks on my shelf below the Barbie paintings?

If You Color-Treat Your Strands, You Need This!

Acure Organics Shampoo Lemongrass + Argan Stem Cell
In looking at my arsenal of shampoos recently, I grabbed about 3 that were clarifying shampoos. Now I’ve never been sure of clarifying shampoos and what I mean by that is, I’m not sure they are safe for use on color-treated hair. I have used them on-and-off for years but most have SLS’s in them, which are not recommended if you color-treat your hair.

Well I came across this shampoo that contains some amazing ingredients and my worry may be over. It’s ACURE ORGANICS Lemongrass + Argan Stem Cell Shampoo Clarifying Keratin Boosting and it contains organic argan oil, argan stem cells and CoQ10, which helps support hair keratin, and adds moisture with avocado oil and vitamin B12. So what does the clarifying? Lemongrass! I had no idea this ingredient was capable of not only cleaning strands but removing product build-up $9.99/8oz @ acureorganics.com and walgreens.com.

Note that I think they just changed their packaging for this as the bottle I have is different from the container I’m seeing online.

Are MAC's Vamplify Your Lip Gloss Answer? #MACVamplify

I’ve really put the lip glosses down in place of the lipsticks in the past few years but these Vamplify lip glosses from MAC might be changing my mind. They infuse a new colour-boosting technology where I don’t think any gloss can touch it when it comes to color saturation! There are 17 shades available and I didn’t have to apply layer after layer after layer of gloss just to get a hint of color.

Michael Todd Soniclear Elite

Michael-Todd-Soniclear-Elite
By now you’ve either used one of these electric brushes to clean your face or are currently using one. I still have one friend who still thinks they look too harsh and will upset her skin. Wow, that’s so 2007 just before Oprah named the very first one as one of her favorite things!

And wow have they come a long way since then. Like now there is one MICHAEL TODD Soniclear Elite  comes with a patent-pending C-Boost Collagen Technology button to stimulate circulation, which is a first. But the real selling point for me is the antimicrobial brush heads to protect them from growing bacteria. With another brand of brush, I kept a small spray bottle with rubbing alcohol inside and sprayed the brush head after each use. Now I don’t have to!
