Benefit Cosmetics Drops Air Patrol
Just out is BENEFIT COSMETICS’ Air Patrol BB Cream Eyelid Primer ($29 @ sephora.com) and it seems to be breaking some ground.
It’s a shadow primer, has SPF 20, an EnviroDefend Complex, which is supposed to protect from environmental stress, hydrates the skin, and comes in a one-color-fits all shade, which seems to blend into being invisible on the skin.
Air Patrol comes in a click-pen, which as I’ve mentioned before, I’m just not a big fan of. But when it comes to keeping the actual product bacteria-free, it’s probably one of the better ones that does it.
In addition to the beige cream, the brand is also touting the “Cushion Calm” tip. It was inspired by the gel foam found in mattresses and pillows and is supposed to help you blend it into your lid so you don’t have to use your finger. I guess that’s something I’ll have to get used to as I’m so conditioned to using my finger.
Now the most important trait – does this help eye shadow last longer on lids? It passed my test and I got about 9 hours of shadow wear but most importantly, my shadow didn’t crease. We’ve been having a heat wave in Los Angeles so I wasn’t sure what would happen with this but it held up nicely under powder shadows. I haven’t had a chance to try cream shadows or other types so hopefully this will perform just as well with those.
