Easy Breezy with Firmoo
Since having Lasik eye surgery about 6 years ago, I thought, “that’s it. I’ll never have to wear glasses again!” And for someone who grew up pretty much blind without any correction, being able to see clearly before even getting out of bed was seriously something I only dreamed of.
Well hello aging and just one-of-those-things, my eyes have changed and I don’t see as well at night when driving and I for sure can notice the change if I’m watching a movie with subtitles.
So I reluctantly made an appointment to get my eyes checked last year and, yup, I’m back in glasses. Oh well. But I don’t need glasses to read yet and a lot of my friends now do, so I’m lucky in that department.
Maybe this Firmoo company heard that I was back to having to wear glasses because they contacted me last month to see if I wanted to try out a pair. Being someone who previously owned about seven different styles of frames BL (before Lasik), I said yes, for sure! I mean I need to build up my wardrobe again. And it really could not have been easier to pick out a style and order from this global optical online company. I’d never done it before so here’s how it works.
I took advantage of their Virtual Look Viewer and uploaded a photo of my head and basically went crazy trying on different kinds of frames! It was pretty fun.
The only difficult part was narrowing it down to which style looked best so I did something I don’t normally do – I took screen shots of the three I was down to and emailed them to three people for their opinion and all came back with the burgundy pair that I too was leaning towards that you see here. And of course I got my Holly-Jean in on the action. She wasn't too happy about it as you can see from below...
Since I had a copy of my prescription, I plugged the numbers in where required and the only measurement they asked for me to take was the distance between from the middle of the pupil of one eye to the middle of the pupil of the other.
As far as styles, some are middle of the road and some quite funky! And the prices are really competitive. For example, the pair I’m wearing here, #DBSN62163, these are priced at $33, which includes 1.50 single vision lenses in them (other prescription types are available for order) and free shipping to the US on orders over $39. At my optometrist, they would probably cost me well over $200 as most places only carry name brands. So if, like me, style trumps names brands, this could be the way to go, seriously!
And each pair comes with a hard case, soft cloth to clean and tiny screwdriver and extra screw.
