Finally! Safe Color Contact Lenses with AIR OPTIX COLORS

I’ve always wanted to try color contacts, so what’s stopping me? Well, I’ve heard some pretty awful horror stories about the color inside the lenses scratching the eye and how uncomfortable they can be since the ones you see online are usually a one-size-fits-all situation. But I’m not going to lie and say that I haven’t been tempted when I’ve gone shopping in downtown Los Angeles’ Santee Alley and see them for $10 a pair, but now with this next development, I’m glad I didn’t cave.

Air Optix Colors

Just out is ALCON AIR OPTIX COLORS contact lenses. They use a 3-in-1 color technology that’s able to blend with your own eye color so it looks natural.

And the actual lenses themselves were made with comfort in mind. Yes, they are a one size fits all, however, the material is super comfortable and breathable. I couldn’t seem to find out exactly what the material was that these are made of on their website but it probably wouldn’t make much difference to me in the end anyway.

The contacts are available in 9 shades that are categorized as Subtle Colors and Vibrant Colors shown below in the pamphlet and they even have a way for you to upload a photo of yourself to try the different color on in what they call their AIR OPTIX COLORS Color Studio here. How cool is that?

Because these go in your eye, you can’t order them online. They require a prescription from a qualified eye care professional and you can find an optometrist that carries them here. I made my appointment at the LensCrafters, which is a few miles up the road from me, and after a full eye exam, we tried on the different shades. I tried on 3 different shades – Gemstone Green, Green and Honey and decided that the latter two looked the best. And with these lenses you can get them with vision correction or without.

So how did they feel in my eyes, pretty darn good! The left one took to my eye really easily. The right one took longer for my eye to adjust to it, so I did feel the lens in my eye for about 45 minutes each time I put it in my right eye. Then it pretty much settled in to where I didn’t feel it.

Each pair of AIR OPTIX COLORS is good for 1 month and they are sold by the box, which each box containing 6 pairs of lenses (so 6 months' worth of wear, with 1 box per eye) retailing for $94.99. Check out more about these and see other colors @ airoptixcolors.com.

Disclosure: I received the eye exam, contact lens fitting, and contact lenses free of charge from Alcon. All words are my own. Serious eye health problems may occur as a result of sharing contact lenses with your friends. Very cool! Gemstone green is gorgeous. Just sayin - your normal brown is quite nice too!

Thanks Audrey! Like I said, I've always wanted to try them as it's fun to mix it up!

Gemstone green is GORGEOUS on you!! I have light eyes, and have always been curious to try a dark brown!

Thanks Amber! It's so worth it to just try different colors in your eyes. Think of the makeup looks you can do with "different" colored eyes!!
