This Product Gives Me the Heebie-Jeebies

I’ve often shared the fact the most lip glosses make my lips feel suffocated. I don’t think this is a serious issue, or maybe I do have issues! In my defense, it’s really the only category that makes me feel physically uncomfortable, well, in addition to this next one, which I’ve never talked about until now.

So which other beauty product gives me the heebie-jeebies?? Click after the jump to find out!

Juliette Has a Gun AND a New Universal Atomizer!

When I first came across these fragrance atomizers, I was sooooooooooo excited! I got about 6 of them and loaded ‘em up with my favorite perfumes. But the course of a few months, I noticed that the fragrance seemed to just disappear from each of them. I thought they might have spilled but upon checked the interior of my purse with my nose, that didn’t seem to be the case. So I refilled two of them and kept a close eye on both and a short period of time, what I suspected besides spillage was true. It seems that if you put perfume in these, it evaporates and I’m positive that that’s what happened, so they are off my list of must haves. So much so that I really want to just delete them from my website, but I think people should know that perfume can evaporate in them and have noted that in an update to 2 posts that I have on them. What I really liked about these is the way you filled them up. Just click here or above to see. I’m so beauty sad and disappointed, to say the least.

Anyway, I must move on, right? I’ve always been fascinated with the JULIETTE HAS A GUN brand and they just revamped their Universal Purse Spray ($35) so now I have a new one to fall in love with! I have their Purse Bullet Perfume Oil (Roll-on) that was one of my gift picks a few years ago and I still love and wear the Lady Vengeance fragrance that was made to come with it. With this one, it’s a perfumed oil and you slide the glass vial in from the bottom, so I’m sure that inspired this new one.

This atomizer comes with a small funnel and the PR company also sent me the Not a Perfume scent that comes in bottle with a dropper so it’s easy to transfer some of it into the bullet sprayer.

Shhhexy Shadow Shades!

Shhexy-Shadow-Shades
How much can you really say about an eye shadow? Not a whole lot besides the overall quality of it and maybe some swatches. So here are some that are tickling my … lids right now.

1. ESSENCE Metal Glam Eyeshadow in 02 Coffee to Glow ($2.99 @ ulta.com) – warm summer nights deserve a little glam and gold sparkle and this one does just that to lids without the steep price.

2. CHANEL Soft Touch Eyeshadow in 106 Hesitation ($29.50 @ chanel.com) – this medium plum burgundy can like the below, can be applied wet or dry. Seemed to perform best for me when it was dry.

3. NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Desdemona ($29 @ sephora.comnarscosmetics.com) – this is a brand new formula from the brand, can be worn wet (for more intense opaque color) or dry and it just so darn smooth going on and blending in! And isn’t this color pink tha bomb?

4. And to keep these shadows from moving around in the hot temps, I recommend the new Photo Finish 24 Hour Shadow Primer ($20/12ml @ sephora.com and smashbox.com) from SMASHBOX

How to Flawlessly Apply False Eyelashes

I just started co-hosting Alayna’s Beauty Talk once a month (the next show is July 23rd and you can hear it live here. There are also links on the right side to hear past shows) and I talked quite a bit about false eyelashes on the show last week. It totally got me thinking about how long it took me to learn how to put them on and since I’ve gotten so much better, I decided to do a How To… on what works for me.

So up first, the lashes! I’ve tried probably about 20 or so different brands and in the end I just pick the majority of mine up at Ulta, CVS or Walgreens. Some brands will be made with real hair and some synthetic. Does it matter? I don’t think so but when you are looking at these different brands, look for lashes that look to have a really thin band or look at the different words on the box that will give you an idea of the band malleability (you’ll thank me later).

Hello Inglot! How's Your Freedom Palette?

Have you heard of the Polish line, INGLOT, yet? I first saw them at The Makeup Show about 3 years ago making their stateside debut and wow, was their booth busy! This Freedom System palette is my first experience with the brand so let’s explore how it works.

What It Is: A palette you can customize by picking your own eye shadows, brow colors, lipsticks and concealers. First, pick a blank palette by selecting the number of pans it holds (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20 and 40, price range $7 for the single to $39 for the 40). Then choose your color pans. From eye shadows to brow powders to lipsticks, you can put one together for each type of look you wear, like daytime, to a night on the town and even one for your purse.

Review+Swatches - Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with lip gloss. While I love the look of a nice glossy colored lip, I don’t always like the feel. Some make me feel like my lips are suffocating. Does this happen to you? I’ve mentioned it here a few times but I do have to say, these TARTE COSMETICS LipSurgence Lip Gloss ($19 @ tartecosmetics.com) DO. NOT. SUFFOCATE! This is an extremely important issue for me. Like if I’m wearing gloss or testing one out, if I can constantly feel it on my lips, I’ll usually not wear that one again, which is why I tend to review more lipsticks on the site.

Have You Seen Too Faced The Little Book of Bronzers Yet?

I swear if there was a hands-on class offered here in LA on all things bronzers, I’d take it in a minute! I mean, I get the basics of bronzers (applying in a #3 seems to work best for me) and the purpose but I still feel like I missing something, especially when it comes to the shades. I had put bronzers down for a few when I was playing around with HAC-ing (highlighting and contouring) but I’m back to them now that I have the TOO FACED Little Black Book of Bronzers ($139 @ sephora.com - this product is long sold out but you can pick up one of their bronzers here) in my hands. And this ain’t just any regular palette with pressed bronzers in it. It’s 8 full size bronzers and really any type you will ever need in your lifetime!

So maybe the feeling of never being sure if a bronzer color is for me will go away after I play in these for a few? I’m hoping so. Or I can just look for that class at my local college, right?
