Are They Real? Testing Out Benefit's New They're Real! Push-Up Liner
This new gel liner in a pen is a huge launch for BENEFIT COSMETICS and the buzz on it seems to be everywhere. It complements their super successful They’re Real! Mascara and called They’re Real! Push-Up Liner ($24). This one claims to get the black color super close to lashes using their Custom AccuFlex Tip. So how did it work?
Well, it does work and it does it beautifully! And it’s all about the rubbery tip. Since the formula seems to be the same consistency as a regular gel liner found in the tiny glass pots, it spread across the lid easily without any skipping or tugging. And, the tip is somehow able to help the color get in between the lashes. Is it because its rather malleable? I'm still not sure. Anyway ...
The pen it comes in is a click-pen, so after about 25 clicks (not a big fan of these because it takes so long to get to the first use, it always seems!), the color comes out of the top. And I found the best way to use this is to gently wipe off the tip after clicking some color out, then click a few more times to get just a tiny bit of color to go above the flat AccuFlex Tip and then, holding lid taut and using a bit of pressure as you go, position the pen tip as close to the inside of the top lashes as possible and glide it across to the outer part of the lid and voila. Easy!
What else you should know about this – it’s waterproof, smudge-proof and budge-proof once it set, the black color is really sooty deep black and it has a matte finish. So how long did it last on my lids? I’ve worn it about 4 times now and it’s averaged about 10 hours each time. Wow.
They are even putting out its own remover, They’re Real! Remover ($18/1.7oz).
