What It Is: TOO FACED Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Palette ($49 @ sephora.com and ulta.com) - The Chocolate Bar experience begins as soon as you open the palette and the smell of sweet chocolate envelops you. The eye shadows are pigmented with pure, antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and includes 16 matte and shimmer shades of natural browns, delicate pinks and luscious plums. (This also) Includes our signature how-to Glamour Guide with three looks to get you started.

Jerrod Blandino was inspired to combine the power of antioxidant-rich cocoa powder and makeup while having a chocolate facial and learning the benefits of cocoa at a Hawaiian spa. Based on this inspiration we created our best-selling bronzer Chocolate Soleil and then Milk Chocolate Soleil and have now added the Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Palette.

My Take: Before I broke open this palette I went to my makeup table to see how many neutral/nude shadows/palettes I currently had on my tabletop that I regularly use. (And this is so embarrassing) and the number is 9. 9! 9 different single shadows/palettes I currently use in my everyday life for neutrals/nudes. Ugh, so I’m hoping to free up some space with this new palette as it seems to house all the necessary ones.
I also really like that this palette offers many different textures when it comes to the colors: matte, satin, shimmer and really shimmery. The shimmer ones performed really well where the satin/matte ones, well, not so well. They were pretty sheer and not very consistant but the originality of a handful of them makes up for the ones that didn't turn out to be favorites.

Here are the colors (and these are all new colors to the brand!!): Gilded Ganache (satin dark brown w/micro gold shimmer), White Chocolate (matte beige), Milk Chocolate (satin cool-toned brown), Black Forest (burgundy w/shimmer), Triple Fudge (matte dark brown), Salted Caramel (matte warm nude), Marzipan (pink/peach Champagne shimmer), Semi-Sweet (matte medium brown), Strawberry Bon Bon (satin light pink), Candied Violet (violet shimmer), Amaretto (copper shimmer), Hazelnut (warm brown w/copper shimmer), Crème Brulee (brown/gold with shimmer), Haute Chocolate (brown with pinky shimmer), Cherry Cordial (red burgundy w/micro glitter), Champagne Truffle (baby pink shimmer).

This one has a mirror inside like you can see in one of the pictures, a magnetic closure, and an insert on how to get 3 great looks using a few of the shades and a clear insert with the color names listed that goes over the shadows. And did you hear when you open the palette you can smell chocolate? To me it smells like a really powdery chocolate perfume and surprisingly it doesn’t bother me, when I usually don’t care for food-smelling beauty products.

Favorite colors from L to R on my fingers – Gilded Ganache, Salted Caramel, Candied Violet, Haute Chocolate, Cherry Cordial

What It Is: URBAN DECAY 'Electric' Pressed Pigment Palette ($49 @ urbandecay.com) – It’s the ultimate fix for the color addicts: ten of the brightest, most amazing shades you’ve ever laid eyes on, plus a double-ended brush. Inspired by the brilliant matte blue of Chaos from The Vice Palette, we created the ultimate fix for color addicts – packed with ten of the brightest, most amazing shades you’ve ever laid eyes on, plus a double-ended brush. All the shades are brand new in this palette except Chaos and Revolt, which appeared in the Anarchy Face Case.

My Take: Pictures of this palette were leaked a few months ago and when I saw one I knew this would be a must-try palette. Brights are certainly my thing these days so I knew this one would be so up my alley and it is! I mean, the palette was inspired by the bomb stand-out shade Chaos from the Vice Palette and the other shades take their cue from it. And just like Chaos, these shades are rich in pigment and not a single miss in the bunch, which is rare.

Here are the colors: Revolt (bright metallic silver shimmer w/silver glitter), Gonzo (bright turquoise matte w/floating tonal pearl), Slowburn (bright red-orange matte w/floating pearl), Savage (bright metallic teal), Chaos (bright blue matte w/floating tonal pearl), Jilted (bright metallic fuchsia w/blue shift), Urban (bright metallic purple), Freak (bright green w/gold shift), Thrash (bright lime green matte w/floating gold pearl).

So many choices in this palette and so far, I’ve been wearing a few of them solo. I find the best way to get the color to stay so vibrant is to apply a white pencil like Nyx’s Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk Lait. I apply a shadow primer, this white pencil and then the color and I press it on my lid with a flat shadow brush.

Favorite colors from L to R on my fingers: Chaos, Gonzo, Urban and Fringe. The Kermit the Frog green and lime green will have to grow on me and I’m sure they will when I find I’m needing a change in the eye shadow department.
