Review+Swatches - Cailyn Gelux Eyebrow

Seems like a lot of beauty buffs are quite obsessed with Anastasia’s DipBrow and though I have not tried it, I came across one that I think works much the same way – adds color and holds hairs in place, and they claim it will even hold up while swimming in a pool or the beach! It’s CAILYN Gelux Eyebrow and they pack some technology into the formula with what they call 3D Smart Film Former. It’s able to stabilize the pigment powders so they don’t fade over time and once this sets, it’s set for hours.

Review+Swatches - IT Cosmetics 'No Tug" Waterproof Gel Eyeliner

IT-Cosmetics-No-Tug-Waterproof-Gel-Eyeliner-in-Brown-main1
At first I thought these were these but they’re not. These new ones are the gel formula you love and only find in a pot form now in a liner form - IT COSMETICS 'No-Tug' Waterproof Gel Eyeliner. You read correctly! You love the gel eyeliners and IT has put them in a pencil form! File this under #whydidntsomeonethinkofthisearlier?

The “no-tug” tag in the name is totally accurate as these just glide on, so much so that I dare you to apply this with one hand and not use your other one to hold the lid taut like we all usually do! You won’t skip a beat with these.

Shown here in Black and Brown, the Black formula is one of the darkest black liners I’ve seen in a looong time. And speaking of long, I actually had a hard time removing these from my lid after a full day of wear. I guess because it’s waterproof, it stays on extra well so must make sure you have an extra good eye makeup remover so you’re not rubbing and tugging a lot in the eye area, which is not recommended.

And one last cool trait? Pull at the other end and off comes the sharpener.

5 Favorite ... Makeup Brushes

5-Favorite-..-Makeup-Brushes-Crown-Brush-Guerlain-Make-Up-For-Ever-Bdellium-Tools-Pixi-Beauty
1. CROWN BRUSH Set 700P – 5 PC. Essentials Set w/Purple Tips ($19.95 @ crownbrush.us) – the perfect set of tools for on the go. This cloth pouch contains all your essentials – Powder Dome, Oval Foundation, Oval Shadow, Oval Detail and Angle Liner. And the purple tips of the brushes are really chic.

2. PIXI BEAUTY Precision Brush ($12) and Shadow Brush from their new Brush Collection – both and more @ dermstore.com – the Pixi line is really expanding the brand! First this and now brushes. The Precision Brush is stubbed, which is great for creating a smoky eye or for smudging shadow or liner.
And I’m a sucker for a great all-purpose Shadow Brush, which is the perfect size for many different applications on the lid and above.

3. GUERLAIN Terracotta Bronzing Powder Brush ($42 @ nordstrom.com) – this is the Rolls Royce of bronzing brushes. Everything about it says luxe! From the deep red bristles to the bronze-colored suede pouch with magnetic closure it comes in.

4. BDELLUIM TOOLS All-Purpose Blusher #964 – part of the Anti-Bacterial Brush Collection ($14.75 @ bdelliumtools.com) – confused about all the different blush brushes out there? This one is a good option then! As the name states, it’s an all-purpose and can handle any blush you buff on it. This 8.5” long  brush uses natural and synthetic fibers in the hair.

5. MAKE UP FOR EVER #158 Double Ended Sculpting Brush ($53 @ sephora.com) – love the brand’s newest makeup brushes and this double-ended brush covers a lot of uses – blush, face powder, and bronzer. Only use animal-free products? This one’s safe for you.

Review+Swatches - BITE Beauty Matte Lip Crayons

Kind of obsessed with bright lip colors so when I got hold of BITE BEAUTY Matte Crème Lip Crayons ($24 @ sephora.com), ooo, I was in heaven! I mean, look at these juicy bright shades! And each triple-milled lippie contains orange peel wax, which makes these smell great too, organic fruit butters, jojoba and castor oil and 5mg of resveratrol to fight free radicals … on the lips. I didn’t know lips aged really. We know around them does but on them?

And one other question is that with all those butters in the formula, how in the heck do these maintain a matte finish? This is true technology at its finest cuz I’m truly wow’d by these.

Are You Married to Your Color Support Hair Products?

I recently read a post on Instagram from a bottle redhead that was giving up on products to help her maintain her red color in between dye sessions. And I have to admit that for a split second I considered it too. I mean, there’s shampoo and conditioner, using a heat-protect spray when using hot tools, making sure to wear a hat when out in the direct sun, not washing your hair too often and I’m just kind of sick of the maintenance of it all. So-much-so that I also considered going back to being a brunette, however, I really like the bright red and it’s just so much fun… Ah, to be a woman and change your mind 100 times a day, right?

So with all these thoughts running through my brain, I tried the latest from the FEKKAI line that happens to be for color-treated locks. It’s the re-formulated and re-launched Technician Color Care trio comprised of the Technician Color Care Shampoo ($5/2oz, $20/8oz), Technician Color Care Conditioner ($5/2oz, $20/8oz) and Technician Color Care Conditioner Luxe Color Masque ($8/1.69oz, $25/7oz) or pick the full sizes up as a set for $60.

Fekkai-Technician-Color-Care-Shampoo-Conditioner-and-Masque

While this set is made especially to keep hair color vibrant and also to help strands give off a multi-dimensional shine, than using hair products not(it) made for color support, I still wonder, why does a shampoo that is supposed to support color-treated hair contain Sodium Laureth Sulfate/Sodium Laurel Sulfate (this one contains the first ingredient listed), which are both known to kill bottle hair color? I’ve brought this topic up a few times on the site in the past and was able to address this question to a Bumble and bumble PR person a few years back and they said that it depends on what ingredients are inside as there are ones that are able to counter act SLS’s in a shampoo. I’m not sure I believe that.

So how do I know that these, especially the shampoo, are keeping my hair color as vibrant as it can be? Well I don’t. I mean I didn’t notice any strong fade in using these in the past 3 weeks that would lead me to believe that these don’t work. But wouldn't the only true way I would be able to fully know that these work to the max is to conduct the following experiment? Used these for a few weeks, then had my hair color dyed the exact same color/depth and then try a different brand and at the end of the time period as the previous test, compare strands. Things that make you go hmmm...

So I guess this review can’t really tell you anything new. If you are a Fekkai user, then you know that these products have been re-formulated and re-launched. If you are not a Fekkai user, then you now know they are here and that’s about all I can say about these since I really can’t share anything measurable with you. So there you have it. Review+Swatches - Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm

Like BB Creams, it seems that every line has gotten into the chubby lip balm but ain’t complaining! CLINIQUE’s Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm ($17 @ clinique.com and sephora.com) are big on moisture (Shea and mango butter) and have a better color payoff then most of these thick balms with color that I’ve tried.

5 Favorite ... Hair Tools

5-Favorite-Hair-Tools

1. SPORNETTE Ion Fusion 3” Aerated Hair Brush #186 ($24 @ amazon.com, ulta.com) – I have about 6 different styling brushes next to my hair dryer and this one has certainly become by go-to in the last month. It has Ion-Charged and Anti-Staric Crimped bristles, which quickly dries and styles strands. And the handle is one piece so no worrying about hairs getting caught.

2. ROWENTA BEAUTY Expertise – Versa Style ($229 @ bedbathandbeyond.com) – this was only a matter of time – an iron that curls and and can straighten. It has 1” floating Ceramic Titanium plates that will smooth frizz and straighten and the edges of either side of the long part of the tool are rounded so you can get curl too. And it heats up to 400 degrees in 30 seconds. This is major, people!

3. INSTYLER Rotating Hot Iron Hair Straightener ($99.95 @ target.com) – It’s funny when you find yourself nesting or juggling a lot of different tools how you forget about favorites, which this one certainly is!

4. CROC Turboion Croc Titanium Wet to Dry Flat Iron 1 ½” ($154.19 @ croc.com) – this is still my favorite hair straightener and does the job better than any other one I’ve tried. Need you know more?

5. GOLD N HOT Professional Ceramic Deep Waver ($39.99 @ amazon.com) – this ceramic-plated iron gives deeper waves than this one and I would definitely recommend using a setting spray with it so the waves last in your hair.

Review+Swatches - Jane Iredale Mystikol Powdered Eyeliner/Highlighter

Liquid eyeliners and pencil liners are fine but a lot of times but more times than not I find myself looking around my makeup table for a smudge brush to soften the look, especially for a daytime look. This JANE IREDALE Mystikol Powdered Eyeliner/Highlighter ($20 @ nordstrom.com) is a nice one to not only apply color but virtually eliminates the second step of blending it in.

Review+Swatches - NARS Matte Multiple in Laos

NARS-Matte-Multiple-in-Laos-main
NARS-Matte-Multiple-in-Laos-main
Lotta buzz around the Matte Multiple from NARS and I got my hands on the rosy coral of Laos! It’s funny that they call this a matte multiple. I mean, aren’t all the multiples matte? Who has ever seen or put out a shiny blush?

Anyway, this one can be used wet or dry and I guess what sets these apart from the other Multiples, besides the shades, is that they have updated the formulas. Each is still very versatile and can be used on lips and cheeks.

NARS-Matte-Multiple-in-Laos-swatch

This rosy coral called Laos shown here seems really versatile and will look beautiful on many different skin tones and it left a light stain on my skin, which I loved. $29 @ sephora.comnordstrom.com narscosmetics.com.

Are these multiples on your must-have list this season?
