Have You Tried Highlighting & Contouring Yet? This Can Help.
So far in 2014, highlighting and contouring has to be the hottest trend right now and makeup companies are hearing the rumbles and putting out products to make it easy to do just that.
Take this one from one of my favorite lines, IT COSMETICS. Their just released My Sculpted Face contains 6 waterproof powders to be used to contour and sculpt your way to a natural look. I think I first got turned onto it after seeing the Allure magazine’s 2013 Blogger of the Year, Cara Brook from Maskcara and her Hac-ing demonstration. I tried it a few times with different products and just couldn’t seem to find the right mix of colors. Maybe I wasn’t choosing the right shades? Or maybe I just need more practice! Either way, I’m quite fascinated with the whole thing and was excited to try this one from IT.
This palette contains two highlighting shades (the top two) – one is matte white and the other is a shimmer white. The middle colors are both in the tan/brown family and the bottom two shades are the darkest ones.
Now, which ones are best for you and where do you apply them? Well, they do include a picture demo with the palette as you can see in one of the photos but from what I’ve read, doesn’t it depend on your face shape on where you apply these colors? I guess trial and error is the best way to figure out what looks best where when it comes to highlighting and contouring your own face. And there are numerous demos on YouTube that can help. A great tip to remember is that what you want to recede away, use the dark shades, and what you want to bring forth, use the light shades.
Have you tried highlighting and contouring yet? Any tips?
