The Latest in Brows from Michelle Phan and Hourglass Cosmetics
I love brow products! Pencils, powders, especially something like this where the artist comes out in me! So what’s the latest to come out? Below are two for the pencil lover in you that you may want to check out.
I bet she never thought in a million years that she’d have her own makeup line! That’s right, YouTube phenom MICHELLE PHAN just came out with her own full line of makeup recently and I tried out two shades of her Em Cosmetics Arched Defining Brow Liner shown here in Caramel and Medium Brown. These follow the trend of the super slim brow pencil and while that does nothing for me, the formula does. It’s quite hard, which is great so you don’t apply too much but don’t twist out too much or it will break off as you’re applying. I did that twice! The photo here is of about 10 strokes of each color. Available in 5 shades for $19 @ emcosmetics.com.
The other newbie to the beauty world is HOURGLASS COSMETICS’ Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil shown here in Soft Brunette. This one is an all-in-one brow pencil – powder, pencil and wax in one! And the shape of the color is in a triangle and allowed for fuller strokes but did take some getting used to. This pencil is also on the harder side, so I couldn’t overdo it. Available in 3 shades for $32 @ sephora.com.
So which one would I pick if I had to choose only one? Each had their pluses - while the HG (Hourglass) one lasted on my brows longer than the MP ones, I found I was able to get the look of individual hairs better with the MP ones. On the other hand, when I was in a hurry on a few of the mornings, the HG one was better built for getting some brows quickly. But the MP one costs significantly less than the HG. But on yet another other hand, the HG is a 3-in-1! Ok, you have the facts, you decide which is better suited for your taste!

Hi Phyrra - the hard formula makes the pencil in that case (Hourglass)!
