Finally, the Longevity of a Beauty Product’s Claim Is True!

We’ve all seen the exaggerations when it comes to the titles of beauty products – “12 Hour Wear…” here, “14 Hour,” there. So what’s in a name? It’s not illegal for them to do this but it is quite misleading. But one has come along from the LANCOME line that speaks the truth. It’s their Artliner 24H Bold Color Precision Eyeliner ($30 @ net-a-porter.com). Now what could that 24H stand for, hmmm? 24…hues? 24…hairs? 24…Hours perhaps? Well I got more than 24 hours of wear out of these … on my arm! That’s right. I was swatching the colors one eve and it didn’t fade or flake off well past the 24-hour mark. I even had two people ask me if the slashes were tattoos!

3 Vastly Different Fall Scents

How do you pick your scent each day (if you don’t have a signature one)? Do you pick by mood? If I spray one on, would I have chosen a different one two hours later? If this is indeed the case, these next three scents would fit your behavior too. Though they seem to be polar opposites, each struck a chord (no pun intended) in me when it was time to choose a scent.

LaVanilla-Pure-Vanilla-Sage-Onyx-Dolce-&-Gabbana-Intense
{mood: strong, present, independent} LAVANILA Pure Vanilla EDP ($42/1oz, $58/1.7oz @ sephora.com) – when you find something that you do well, keep doing it well. I think that should be the mantra of the Lavanilla line; they have a formula for what they put out and don’t stray too far from it with the new scents. This one combines Madagascar vanilla, Freesia, Patchouli, Heliotrope and Tonka Bean, for a scent that has staying power and will all day.

{mood: enigmatic, ladylike, stylish} SAGE Onyx ($45/1/8th oz roll-on @ thesagelifestyle.com) – this one seems to have the staying power of an ox! And it should with so many base notes in it like vanilla, amber, and musk. The oakmoss, tobacco and black coconut give this one an air of mystery and I like that the scent doesn’t seem to change much throughout the course of the day. This is probably because this one only contains pure essential oils and no alcohol, water or other chemicals. Wanna learn more about Ms. Sage Machado (yes a real person is behind this line!), click on over to Beauty Bender blog and read a cool Q&A they conducted with her.

{mood: mysterious, feminine, unique} DOLCE & GABBANA Pour Femme Intense EDP ($79/.8oz, $93/1.6oz, $112/3.3oz @ sephora.com) – though the brand’s fragrances are known for being anything but light, this is one of the more enjoyable ones they’ve put out in the past few years. With notes of Raspberry, Green Mandarin, Neroli, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Tuberose, Musk and Sandalwood, you get a dab of sweetness on a bed of pure seduction. Do you dare?

So what are you wearing this season? Do tell in the comments!

Review+Swatches - MAC Divine Night: Holiday Colour Collection

Every year I look forward to the offerings from the MAC COSMETICS line and they do seem to up themselves in areas. Those areas would be the accessories like the makeup palettes and cosmetic bags. More on those at a later date. What I did get my paws on now are 3 of the items from the Divine Night Collection.

What it is: What happens at night stays there. MAC captures the moment when flashing lights illuminate a flair for finery and limitless luxury that can only be described as divine. Gorgeous colours in rich finishes inspire an evening on the scene and to be seen. Enjoy yourself – past midnight, the darkness keeps the secrets.

So let’s look closer at these and some swatches!

Probably the Only CC Cream You Ever Need to Try!

Are you buying in to the whole BB/CC cream madness that has cropped up in the past year+? Even though I’m not a big fan of them, I’m glad I came across this one. This is a CC (color correcting or color control cream) cream and is made for those looking to get rid of redness or sallowness and this one has some added benefits than your average CC cream.

Cover-FX-CC-Cream

COVER FX CC Cream Time Release Tinted Treatment SPF 30 ($45/1oz @ dermstore.com) is tinted, as the name states, and also contains anti-aging ingredients that are released for 8 hours in a time-release fashion. Not even sure how you can get a cream to do that! This one also has a built-in primer and nice high sunscreen of SPF30.

The only negative I can find with this one is the smell. While it’s not that strong and doesn’t last long at all, I do notice a chemical smell when I’m applying it to my face. Kinda like self-tanner.

Available in 9 shades. Not sure which one you would be? Try their wicked cool shade conversion chart here

More Buzz Coming Our Way from Japan with Taut

Taut-Gold-Standard-Collagen-Mask
Taut-Gold-Standard-Collagen-Mask-packs
Now that temps are dropping, I’ve brought out the humidifier and I’ve upped my face mask … consumption, so to speak. The other new-to-me brand from Japan to cross my beauty path is this TAUT. The products are manufactured in Japan and right now they have three that make up the line so let’s investigate two of them.

This first one was created by the creator of the SK-II Facial Treatment Masks, which are a cult favorite, os it’s already got some fairy dust sprinkled on it from that alone. Introducing their Gold Standard Collagen Mask ($50/5 masks). These masks are one of those cloth ones that look really spooky to anyone looking at you but do wonders for the skin. It contains a blend of super anti-aging ingredients like hydrolyzed collagen, Squalene, Hyaluronic acid and antioxidants.

While I’m not too wild about the parabens and preservatives in these, the pluses of this one seems to outweigh the minuses. Just 10-minutes, 2 to 3 times a week, and your skin will get through the upcoming chilly weather.

The other product they have in the line is one that works on beauty from the inside out. The Premium Collagen Replenishment Formula ($110/8 bottles) is an 80 calorie hydrolyzed collagen shot, which contains 13 grams in every 1.7oz serving. From what I have learned about these drinkable beauty supplements, this is a lot. So instead of apply your age-defying ingredients to your skin, you’re drinking them. Two Japanese Beauty Brands that Are Buzzing Right Now!

Seems that I can’t pick up a magazine these days without reading about Asian products coming stateside and here are two that are made in Japan (remember the song Big in Japan? Well here’s the video. Great song!)

OK, let’s get back to the beauty and visit with this HADA LABO line. This brand seems to be at the top of ever beauty editor’s list these days and they just launch their US website here under the name Hada Labo Tokyo. From what I can gather, this line is huge in Japan and is growing worldwide with the claim that a bottle of their Replenishing Hydrator is sold every two second. So of course with all this coming at me, I was super curious!

We’ve all heard of hyaluronic acid when it comes to keeping skin hydrated and this brand has been able to patent a blend of super hyaluronic acid that's inside their products to help your skin stay smoother longer.

Hada-Labo-Tokyo-Skin-Plumping-Gel-Cream
The one I tried was their Skin Plumping Gel Cream ($24.99/1.76oz @ walgreens.com) and as the name states, it’s a gel cream, which I love. And this has that super concentrated hyaluronic acid that plumps up skin with long lasting moisture. I’ve been using this at night and with the exception of one big zit on my cheek, my skins been looking better and reacting nicely to this one. It’s not greasy at all and doesn’t have a smell to it. Two really important factors when it comes to a face cream.

So what’s the other brand from Japan that has people buzzing? Stay tuned!
