Review+Swatches - OCC Modern Craft Lip Tars

OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS just came out with their Modern Craft Fall Colour 2013 Collection and as far as the Lip Tars ($18 @ revolve.com) in this collection go, they are highlighting all three textures! Metallic, Matte and Stained Gloss.

So which are my favorites and which would I pass on? Click after the pic to see!

Metallic

(left) Role Play – intense metallic red, (right) Black Metal Dahlia – deeply blackened red w/burgundy pearl

These are my favorite duo of the bunch. The formulas are really pigmented and so gorgeous on the lips. As I’ve mentioned before when it comes to Lip Tars, if you are prone to bleeding around the lips, use a lip primer to keep it in place.

Matte

I liked Anita but it may be a little too dark for me though I liked the texture and the drydown of the matteness of them. The previously mentioned Black Metal Dahlia is also dark but has the metallic finish that I feel makes that kind of dark more wearable.

And the Sebastian? With the right outfit, I think it could look really nice.

Stained-gloss

These were my least favorite of the bunch. They were too … thin and lip glossy as you can see from the swatches. They say these are inspired by lighting gels and stained glass, so they are the easiest to wear of the bunch and while it might be great for some people, I expect wow and amazing when I experience a Lip Tar. And I didn’t see these leave any kind of stain behind, unfortunately, but maybe I just need to try one that is a darker shade.

Btw, if you are really into Lip Tars, you'll be into this tutorial on how to turn a Lip Tar into a lip pencil here! I've got to try this soon.
