Review+Swatches - Estee Lauder Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick
In continuing to dissect ESTEE LAUDER’s The Metallics New Pure Color Collection, we come to the lips with their Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick with Chrome Metal Effect ($25 @ bergdorfgoodman.com).
What it is: A hybrid of vividly rich color and brilliant metallic shine meet in six NEW Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipsticks. Exclusive True Vision™ Technology provides rich color that wraps lips in lustrous shine, while a tri-complex of refined metalized gold and silver pearls envelop lips to create an amplified chromatic finish. This high-impact fusion of pigments and pearls create brilliant shades that work across all different skin tones, while the moisture-rich formula keeps lips feeling soft and conditioned all day.
My take: I tried out two of the colors, Glow Fuchsia (on the left in the photo) and Mirrored Orchid (on the right in the photo), and these do seem to have a metallic effect to them obtained with the gold and silver complex in each color. So what is this complex? “Cluster of up to 12 different shaped pearls cast diamond-like reflections and intense chromatic color,” and I have to agree on the chromatic color. Gazing at the color swatches I did on my arm, I thought one could only obtain this effect with nail polishes. Well EL has proven that wrong.
And they also claim that each of these six shades will look great on all skintones because the pearls are also able to neutralize liptones. Just wow.
Now as far as the formula, know that this is a regular lipstick and not a long-wear one, so while you won’t get hours upon hours of wear, I got an average of 3 hours with these two.
