Why Hide Pink Rosa Under Your Arms?

Dove-Clear-Tone-Anti-Perspirant-Deodorant-in-Pink-Rosa
I’m kind of hard to please when it comes to deodorant, or at least I thought I was. I first tried DOVE Clear Tone Deodorant/Antiperspirant when it first came out in 2011 and I’m a fan. These Clear Tones were made to reduce red or dark marks under the arms and they just came out with a new scent, Pink Rosa! It combines floral and fruity and smells sooo good. Ok, Dove, I think you need to package this scent up in a perfume soon as I could totally see wearing this one as such. $3.97-$6.25/2.6oz @ target.comamazon.com

Review+Swatches - Fall Colors with Votre Vu Lipstick and Lip Liner

Line lips before? Line lips after? There doesn’t seem to be one clear answer to this conundrum. I’ve always lined before applying lipstick and feel I get a better defined lip this way instead of using it afterward. How do you use your lip liner?

Anyway, I’ve been pretty drawn to fall colors this month and dark vampy colors are really making the scene or rather my lips these days. A duo that is dark enough but not too young for me is from the French Accents collection from VOTRE VU. It’s their French Kiss Moisture Riche Lipstick in Margaux ($23) and the Drawmatic Lip Liner in Sizzle ($21).

The lipstick is one of those looks-darker-in-the-tube-than-on-the-lips dark berry shade and feels so nicely on lips! Using plant waxes and vitamin E, this one goes on smooth and has a hint of vanilla mint to briefly dazzle the nose. To get the smoothest application, make sure your lips are exfoliated and that they are not peeling or chapped as a shade this dark won’t look as good.

I paired this one with the Sizzle liner is a dark chocolate that goes on smoothly and contains avocado oil to nourish and really keeps color in place and curbs feathering, which I need!

Admiring my lips in the mirror wearing these both, I almost feel like they are not vampy enough but maybe at my age that’s a good thing; I get my fix by looking at it in the tube but then get the real world look when I apply it. Thanks for keeping in check, VV! Both @ votrevu.com

The Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter Cleanser

The-Organic-Pharmacy-Carrot-Butter-Cleanser-main
I’m a big fan of the UK’s THE ORGANIC PHARMACY brand and I was able to get my hands on their Carrot Butter Cleanser ($69/2.5oz @ barneys.com). It’s unlike your typical face cleanser in that it is super thick kinda like a hair wax that you warm up in your hands before rubbing it on. It’s great at removing all traces of makeup and the day’s dirt and grime and I found it best when using their Organic Muslin Cloth to wipe it all off. Just be sure not to apply too much of the cleanser or you will get a slight waxy residue leftover on your skin.

Let’s look at some major ingredients and anti-oxidants inside. Just wow!

It did take me a minute to get used to the non-foamingness of something like this balm but since I grew up using Ponds Cold Cream, it hasn’t been too hard.

The only one I could do without is lavender in it. I’ve just grown to dislike it quite a bit over the years and can smell it when there is even a hint of it in anything. But, this one is worth the torture as my skin feels soooo nice after using this to cleanse and I pretty much don’t feel like I need a moisturizer afterward.

The Strangest Looking Mascara Contraption You'll Ever See!

When it comes to combing out lashes after applying a few coats of mascara, I am a fan of the metal combs, not the plastic combs. This one from Perfect Lash Comb, which is in my Hall of Fame, or this recently discovered one from the ROYAL & LANGNICKEL line, called the Silk Brow/Lash Groom ($9.99 @ royalbrushstore.com) are two good ones to consider.

And this Mega Effects Mascara ($8.49 @ amazon.com) from AVON kind of uses the same kind of idea for applying their mascara. Using the bristles like one of these above combs, you comb in the mascara for an even and clump-free application. When I first saw this in a magazine, I didn’t see the correlation between the metal comb and mascara, but after getting it in my hands, it’s pretty obvious that this way works, and it works, well … click after the jump to see!

Review+Swatches - Pixi Beauty Crayon Combo Duo Pencil

Pixi-Beauty-Softly-Smoky-Crayon-Combo-out-of-box
PIXI BEAUTY
just put out some new products for fall and right now I’m digging on their Crayon Combo ($16 @ target.com) in Softly Smoky. One side is a deep matte chocolate brown for the liner and on the other thicker side of the pencil is a glowing medium bronze that is used to define. And the dark liner can also be used on the waterline as it’s waterproof. I didn’t find it performed as well as this one but the dark brown is a nice alternative to harsher black.

And don’t forget to pick up their Dual Sharpener for only $6. How many times do you need to sharpen one of your many width pencils and not have the right sharpener.

Clinique Adds Some CC to Their SP

File this next one under, if your face can dream it up, CLINIQUE’s new Superprimer Face Primers can handle it. The brand just came out with 6 new oil-free ones that are made just for perking your skin up to be its best.

Clinique-superprimer-main
They are:

Universal Face Primer (no color), Colour Corrects Dullness, Colour Corrects Redness, Colour Corrects Sallowness, Colour Corrects Discolourations, Colour Corrects Dullness in Deeper Skins.

I’ve been alternating between the one made for Dullness and Sallowness. Not only does it create a nice canvas for my foundation to go onto but it seemed to lessen the dullness my skin has been experiencing lately. Did it make it go away? Not quite but it helped my skin look a little more vibrant than it's been.

I bet these kind of correction primers will become quite mainstream like tinted moisturizers have.

Is this something up your alley? $27/1oz @ ulta.comsephora.com

Review+Swatches - Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil

I kinda feel like lip liners have become the nylons of the makeup world. I mean, how often do you use one? Or rather, maybe I should ask myself that question? I have always had an issue with feathering and lip bleeding from most lippies but I do forget to use a lip liner unless I am trying out a super-rich red or a Lip Tar. Then I seem to know better.

So my fall resolution is this:

WEAR.
LIP.
LINER/PENCIL.
WHENEVER.
WEARING.
A.
LIPPIE.

Ok!! Got it now.

So what better makeup brand to make this resolution with then URBAN DECAY and their 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencils ($19 @ ulta.comurbandecay.com).

Do you have one eye that always seems to come out better when you put on makeup? For me, my right eye is always easier. I’m right-handed so maybe that has something to do with it? Anyway, speaking of eyes, the TARTE COSMETICS line just came out with two new items for eyes as part of their Fall 2013 CollectionLights, Camera, Flashes! Agraria - A New Way to Scent a Room

Agraria-TasselAire-Perfumed-Tassel-+-one-refresher-oil-in-Mediterranean-Jasmine-2
I love coming across a totally unique product, especially when it falls into the category of something I’ve never seen before. From the AGRARIA line comes a beautiful way to scent a room. The product is called TasselAire and it is a perfumed tassel that can be hung on a doorknob, a curtain tieback, really anywhere, and no one will be the wiser.

The secret to this scenter is the “carrot,” as they call it, under all the pieces of tassel. Just add several drops of your chosen scent that comes with it to the carrot piece of fabric and you’re good to go for a few more weeks. Choose from 9 scents like Lemon Verbena, Balsam and the one shown here, Mediterranean Jasmine, which smells so good, I could wear it. $35 @ saks.com.

And I know it’s only September but this would make a really nice holiday hostess gift, dontcha think?
