Review+Swatches - Bare Escentuals The Power Neutrals Collection
BARE ESCENTUALS just came out with a new limited-edition collection called The Power Neutrals. Lips, eyes, face. This one has it all covered and a whole face done with neutral makeup can look so wonderfully polished. So if you need some new staples or want to try something new, they probably have a product in this collection for you.
What it is: This limited-edition collection of seductive neutrals for eyes, lips and cheeks will take you from the boardroom to the bedroom … and beyond.
The collection consists of:
- bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 8.0 ($40)
- bareMinerals READY Color Boost ($29)
- Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Take Charge ($18)
- Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Super Power ($18)
So let’s break down each item after the jump.
I was most interested in the bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 8.0 from this collection because I love eye shadows and I use a lot of neutrals for my base when doing my eye look for the day/eve.
From L to R starting at the top - Boss Lady (shimmer bronze) +Moneymaker (dusty olive) + Schmooze (bronze sheen) + Boardroom (deep chocolate) + Exec (polished slate) + Payday (light granite) + Magnate (nude peach) + Get Ahead (rustic taupe).
These formulas contain what they call a SeaNutritive Mineral Complex, which are sea minerals combined with cold-pressed borage oil, caffeine and cucumber, which together are known for their anti-aging benefits. But do you apply enough to really reap those benefits? Not sure.
Anyway, as far as the performance of the shadows themselves, like all BE ones, I expect a lot from them and know they deliver when it comes to their loose and now their pressed ones. And they don’t let down. Wear alone, like some of the ones with shimmer, or combined with other shades.
Moving onto the next is the bareMinerals READY Color Boost The Adrenaline Rush. It’s made of solid minerals and also contains the above SeaNutritive Mineral Complex and features shades in golden ivory, natural matte pink and matte rosewood. So you can adjust according to the time of day you are using this – lighter during daytime and a little heavier and defined in the eves.
Moving onto the lips is their Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Take Charge. This is described as a nude rose ad seems to be a shade everyone can wear. It’s creamy and has the cute clicker on the site of the tube that opens it for use. I really like how hydrating their Marvelous Moxie lippies are and even though it doesn’t wear for a long time (I only get about 4 hours from these lipsticks and I guess you could say I’ve been ruined by these long-wearing ones, among some other new ones to hit the scene), the color is worth it.
I have to admit, I wasn’t that jazzed by the Marvelous Moxie Lip Gloss in Super Power when I first saw it and swatched it but it’s growing on me for those times when the eyes are the focal point but still want a little sumthin-sumthin on my lips. Described as a sheer-to-medium soft peachy nude, this one seems to top off a neutral look or for when another feature is doing the talking.
