Review: Somme Institute Boost

Somme-Institute-Boost-2For some reason my skin has been freaking out lately with blemishes and I have not been able to pinpoint what it is that’s causing it. Diet? Using my Clarisonic too much? Anyway, I was waiting to it to calm for a minute so I could try this SOMME INSTITUTE Boost Gentle Warming Mask but hey, why wait? This one could actually help, duh! This is one of those warming masks, which sometimes give me the creeps but it doesn’t get too warm like some I have tried in the past. Like all of their products, this one is infused with their patented MDT5 (Molecular Dispersion Technology), which is a complex of 5 highly engineered vitamins (A, B3, B5, C and E) and proteins to really smooth out skin. And I love that it also contains natural pumpkin enzymes, to help clear out dead skin on the surface. And I read in their materials that the warming is due to the Zeolite, which is a natural mineral the opens the pores enabling the Kaolin to absorb oil, dirt etc and free radicals can’t survive it. So it’s like a skin crime fighter!

The verdict? I’ve used it 3 times now and while I’m not usually big on using face masks, I really do like this one not only because you only leave it on for 5 minutes but also for what it leaves behind afterward, which seems to be calm skin and a feeling of a neutral pH, not dry and tight. And the fact that it has major anti-aging ingredients? Major double, or rather, triple duty benefits. Big recommendation. $40/3oz @ dermstore.combloomingdales.com.

Review: Miracle Skin Transformer Body SPF20

Miracle-Skin-Transformer-Body-SPF-20Yes, we make sure the tone on our face is even but what about our skin like the legs and arms? They too can sometimes use some color evenness. Enter MIRACLE SKIN TRANSFORMER Body SPF20 and this ain’t your average body product. Not only does it contains some major good-for-skin ingredients like jojoba oil, amino acids and Hyaluronic acids among others, but it also contains an M3 Complex to help tone and make the skin look flawless. Think of it as a foundation for your body that contains those blurring particles that diminish imperfections.

It comes in three different shades: Sheer Enhancer, Glow Enhancer and Bronze Enhancer. My legs are totally addicted to the Glow Enhancer right now and I never leave home without it on! $34/3.38oz @ ulta.com.

Minerals Mate Improves Mineral Makeup ... Again

I love an improvement on an existing product and that’s exactly what MINERALS MATE has done – made improvements to their already useful product. As we all know, mineral makeup powders can be messy and we generally use the cap the product comes in to get it on the brush. So MM has tried to harness the problem by not only creating a palette to lay the powders in but now safely store them until the next use. That’s right – they now come with caps so you can cap what you have not used for the next use. They also seems to weigh less then the original one I tried, so kudos to that too!

Ioma Gel Performance Slimming and Contouring Gel

Ioma-Gel-Performance-SlimI’m pretty skeptical when it comes to those firming body lotions. I mean, all that work of slathering it on and most of the time I think the results last like an hour, if at all. Well because I was really curious about this newest one on the market from the French brand, IOMA’s, new Body Pro Line, I made the 6-week commitment to try it out.

What it is: Gel Performance Slim Slimming and Contouring Gel

Cost: $115/4.9oz only @ saksfifthavenue.combeautyformoi.com.

My take: I rubbed some of this on the backs of both of my thighs morning and night and did it every day and it really did seem to lessen some of the dimples in that area, and for totally more than one hour. This one uses the latest in biotechnology and plant extracts to not only firm but improve drainage and tone the area. I was pretty surprised, to say the least.

So is it worth the steep price tag? We all have our areas we spend the dollars on to improve and if this is your area, this would be a good one for you to try for yourself.
