Glossybox Launches in the USA

Have you heard of Glossybox yet? They just made it available in the US and it’s one of those ways to try beauty products without the big commitment. The service is currently serving 19 countries around the world and for here, membership is $21/month. Upon signing up, you will fill out a questionnaire so they can get a feel for what you like. Each monthly box will contain four or five products and recipients are encouraged to fill out surveys after receiving so their next box can be even more fitting.

Glossybox-inside-pink-box-still-wrappedSo let’s take a look at April 2012’s box I was sent to experience.

  • Basq Cucumber Tea Eye Gel (retails $24)
  • OPI Nail Polish in Kiss Me on My Tulips (retails $8.50)C.O. Bigelow Lavender & Peppermint Shampoo (retails $12 for this 5.2oz)
  • Cargo EyeBronzer (retails $22)
  • Erno Laszlo Hollywood Collection ($125 for these 5 x .5oz packets)
  • Kryolan High Gloss Brilliant Lip Shine in Toffee (retails $18.10)

Glossybox-inside-products-laying-down Glossybox-inside-productsFirst, I really don’t see how the five Erno Laszlo packets equal $125. The sleeve includes 4 tear-off-the-top small packets of 4 different products in the line. Really?? Personally, I hate those small sample packets and rarely try products that come in them. I mean, I can get one of them at any Bloomingdale's counter and really didn't expect to see them in this box.

While I liked the pink nail polish from OPI and the EyeBronzer from Cargo was nice, nothing else in the box really excited me.

The packaging it came in was gorgeous and the actual box that housed them all is a total keeper but in a beauty world with many services like this, I really think they need to step it up with more luxury products (or they should of at least included one full size or deluxe one from Erno instead of the packets as those actually made my grade go down) to have me convinced of future boxes. I’d give this a solid C+. Read more @ glossybox.com.
